25.01.2022 New blog is up A message for the busiest minds Ive heard people say meditation is not for everyone and I have to disagree on that. Trust me when I tell you that meditation IS your bridge to peace and quiet. I am speaking to the busy minds, the busiest minds, I am speaking to the judgemental and critical thoughts, I am speaking to the corporate minds, and especially the creative minds, I am speaking to the curious minds and the minds ...that are craving some space, some silence, some clarity. Meditation is literally your bridge to your most natural state - of peace. To sit in stillness in your own space, inside yourself is terrifying for some. I get that, and it took me 34 years to open my mind enough to see the epic productivity in stillness. Want to know how and why you should access your own natural state of peace? Read the remainder of this article by @kelly.dalby over on the blog. See more
25.01.2022 Monday Musings this week are bought to you @kelly.dalby I wanted to share this short video with you this morning because the experience filled me with such joy. The water this morning was incredible. Instantly calming, instantly bringing me from my mind to my heart. Instantly bringing out my child like curiosity and joy. I take this time every single day. It’s not always the ocean though, some days if I am pushed for time I wander around in my own front garden, taking intere...st in new growth, the tiny insects, observing how the light hits different parts of the yard. Sometimes I head to the bush for a walk. There is so much to learn from the natural world, but aside from this...it shares with us instantly its therapeutic nurturance. I invite you to ponder where it is in the natural world that soothes you, inspires you, anchors you, or...thrashes you about when necessary (the rough ocean is perfect for this at times). I truly hope you give yourself this time to meander, to take interest in the natural world because we are in relationship with this world, and it will ALWAYS always always support us. You know what else is deeply beautiful about this place...you can be sure you will always feel that deep, unquestionable sense of belonging when you are here. Isn’t that very though just like a comforting hug? Happy Monday everyone, and may you find that special place this week. Kelly x
24.01.2022 This week's Monday Musings is bought to you by Eric Schwarz Yoga ahead of his 'Yin, Yang and Yoga Nidra' workshop this Saturday. "One of my favourite outcomes from a regular yoga practice is feeling connected to and at home in my own body. I've experienced long stretches of time where I have felt this way, and I've also felt periods of disconnection. There is a saying in Buddhism, "It's real but not true." This means there is a strong belief, usually a limiting one, that fee...ls so visceral to us we can't imagine another way of being or seeing. I often see this with students who are stressed, tired, and burnt out - they accept this as all there is and there is no other outcome. Or perhaps they think they can address this down the road, once they've completed the never-ending to do list. But there are practices we can all take to look after ourselves, which shift the reality of what is really possible, so it further aligns with one simple truth: peace is possible in any moment, and it's possible for you, too. I have designed this two-hour class to further align with this truth. In my decade plus of experience with yoga, these three practices, particularly in combination, are a potent approach to calming the nervous system, discharging stress, and creating an overall sense of peace and wellbeing. And because I believe this work is so important, I am inviting you to bring a friend along for free. Spaces are limited, so please enrol today." We hope to see you on Saturday! Get your ticket through the event below.

24.01.2022 A special spring workshop at Myall with @ericschwarzyoga This two-hour workshop harmoniously and intelligently combines three distinct yoga traditions, so you get the best of all three in one delicious experience. Yin and Yang are Taosit concepts that describe the two qualities present in everything in the universe. While Yin is lunar, passive, and internal, Yang is solar, dynamic, and external. Yin/Yang Yoga combines the benefits of both... Yin and Yang Yoga. In Yin, we passively hold yoga postures to open connective tissue and increase flexibility, reduce stress, and stimulate the meridians. This is then followed by the strong Yang practice of standing postures to increase stamina, tone, and circulation. The cherry on top of this practice is Yoga Nidra. Often translated as Yogic Sleep, Nidra is a guided relaxation technique that induces total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. About Eric Eric is an American Yoga Teacher and a life coach living in Western Australia. His teaching style is engaging, empowering and creative, embracing the full potential of body, mind and spirit. In 2016, he was voted best yoga instructor in Washington, DC in 2016. 20.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago I shared my Monday musing on the power of our breath, how if we let it flow naturally long and deep and harmoniously then it will bring calm and joy to our body, mind and spirit. So following on from that and from a query this week from one of our Myall members, I’d like to share with you a breath practise that will help you to develop that naturally long and deep, harmonious breath not only as the foundation of your yoga practise but also for your ever...y day off the mat. The query from our member was this how, in our yoga practise do we co-ordinate mula bandha (pelvic floor root lock) with our ujjayi (yoga) breath? My response to our member was this - The simple approach I try and take for myself and also aim to guide through the yoga classes I teach is to not force your breath but rather let it flow as naturally as possible, at the same time not force your root lock or pelvic floor engagement but rather keep it subtle. As you know the activity in your core (at your very base, pelvic floor) and your long, deep nostril breath practise (diaphragmatic breathing), is not only important for your yogi breath and your yoga practise but also for your posture and spinal health throughout your day. Here’s an interesting article and breath practise for you to try at home, in the meantime I’d continue to encourage not to force it, just try and let your breath flow naturally and harmoniously and it will soon become your normal breath practise and pelvic floor engagement" not only on the mat but throughout your busy day https://www.yogauonline.com//core-connection-relationship- I hope that makes sense without getting too philosophical about it! Have a beautiful day Emma x

19.01.2022 Monday Musing this week is bought to you by Emma, on the power and symphony of the breath. I love the quote Our body is the instrument our breath plays from Lorin Roche’s book Radiance Sutras. I was recommended this book during my Yoga Teacher training with InYoga with Rod and Nicole, in 2017 and refer to it often to help inspire the yoga" I share at Myall today. If you think about it, it rings true when we are stressed, anxious, depressed we breathe shallow and fast a...nd we feel that tension, that angst, that heaviness in our bodyyou can almost hear the resulting screeching sound of the out of tune instrument that is reflected in our body. Yet when we are feeling peaceful, at ease in our heart and in our mind, our breath flows more deeply, more rhythmically and we also feel that in our body, we are able to move more easeful and with balance.you can see and hear in your minds eye the harmonious melody that is played by the instrument that is our body. Cause or effect? Is it our peaceful mind and positive thoughts that allows our breath to flow more harmoniously and hence our body to feel balanced and easeful? Or is it possible that whatever our state of mind, that by slowing down and deepening our breath, by our conscious and mindful breath practise, that we can bring peace and calm to our mind that flows naturally to our body, allowing us to move more harmoniously through our busy day. We have provided a breathing practice for you to try in the second photo. Feel free to save it so that you can repeat it whenever you need.

16.01.2022 Monday Musings by @kelly.dalby In previous seasons over the years I have taken my Monday morning practice (known as my Monday Morning Date with Myself) outside, most often to the coast and have preferred to keep my own company, but things look a little different now. I have settled into a new season that begun as an invitation to join a friend in her class to something that feels perfectly aligned for me, and perfect for right now. I rol...l out of bed, I wander into the next room, I light multiple candles, set aside a cushion for my kitties that will without doubt end up beside me in my practice, and I move with guidance, but in self exploration with Emma and the Myall community. I love that this virtual offering has allowed me to expand my own own yoga practice for myself once again without travel and therefore time as a cost. I could have written about a number of things today for my Monday Musing, but this is my current truth, this is my current Monday morning practice, so this is my inspiration right now in this moment. It is also something that I may need to adapt, something without rigidity, something for myself, by myself, but among the virtual community of others. It is from this place of connection, anchoring and self respect that I better step out into my day to support others and I am beyond grateful for that first invitation and the circumstances that led us to this new beginning and an online offering that has made this possible. When I begin my week with this gesture, I feel more inclined to meet the following hours and days from this same place of self respect and self care. From this cosy and content place in me, I honour the cosy and content place in you and hope you will treat yourself to the circumstances and experiences that take you there - often. Have a beautiful week. See more
16.01.2022 Following the latest directive from the West Australian Government, it has been announced that as of Saturday masks will no longer need to be worn in our studio. While this news is encouraging, we will keep maintaining the highest level of safety and hygiene, and encourage everyone that comes, to enjoy the studio and keep a safe practice. This can be done by checking in with the WA SAFE APP, rescheduling if you have been unwell, or in contact with anyone who has been unwell ...or at any of the exposure sights in Perth. We understand that many in our community may still be working from home, so we do encourage you to practice with us via live streaming in the comfort of your own space. We are grateful that our therapeutic treatments have been running as normal and invite you to book in with our massage therapist via the Myall App, Mindbody or by calling the studio. Thank you all for your continued patience, and support during this time and we honour each of you for maintaining your own practices throughout this uncertainty. Your Myall Family

It may be a shorter practice, a walk outside if you can’t make it to class, a short meditation, or even 5 minutes alone with a cup of tea. Keep nourishing your body, creating space for your mind, and honouring what you need. See you on the mat or in our virtual studio soon and if you hadn’t seen our generous festive season incentive yet, we are gifting a 45 minute massage for every 10 in studio classes attended for our Ignite Members. 16.01.2022 Wow what a week that was! Today as I reflect on our 5 day Cape to Cape hiking and yoga retreat that we shared with 20 lucky retreat guests I note that it is the culmination of 6 months of preparation with Gene from Cape to Cape Explorer Tours What a pleasure it has been working with Gene and his team, including Nic from Surfpoint Resort during that time to create and deliver what I believe was an exceptional rejuvenating experience for our guests. We enjoyed 3 days of perfec...t sunny spring weather, hiking and immersing ourselves in the nature of the great Southwest coast of WA as well as daily morning flow yoga and restorative yoga in the afternoon. Our Gnarabup Yoga Studio just a 5 minute walk away from our accommodation, both conveniently located just a 5 minute walk away from Gnarabup beach and the WHITE ELEPHANT CAFE As well as our hiking and yoga experience we enjoyed a day of wine tasting and lunch at Olio Bello so in terms of our promise for yoga, hiking and bliss I think we can safely say we delivered. The Cape to Cape hiking team led by Gene are a wonderful passionate group and our accommodation at Surf Point Resort managed by Nic, a bright casual space that included common areas for our retreat guests to gather socially in a group or individually for quiet time. What I loved about my very first conversation by phone with Gene on the 25th May and every communication since whether by phone, by email and then last week in person when I finally had the pleasure to meet him, was that his passion, his enthusiasm is palpable - nothing ever too much of a problem, everything such a pleasure for him to share - his favourite walks he selected for us, his love of surfing and his home town of Gnarabup, his love of the delicious locally sourced produce and food that we enjoyed for our meals breakfast lunch and dinner amply catered. My lasting impression, final words of advice Gene shared as we said our goodbyes at the end of 5 days spent in his company, was his encouragement that no matter how busy we might be, or how challenging things might become, to always find joy every day whether by doing something you love or spending time with loved ones. You can register interest now for the next Cape to Cape retreats in February and May 2021

14.01.2022 Monday Musing this week is bought to you by Emma, with another favourite pose and it’s place in her journey. Crow Pose (Bakasana in Sanskrit) is another yoga pose that brings back a fond memory and a particular song for that matter. I've always said that what I like about yoga is that it is a practise not a competition or an event, yoga is for every body.... That said, crow pose is a yoga pose that came to me by way of a competition! In October 2017, I was at a 2-week intensive yoga teacher training at @Inyoga with Nicole and Rod in Sydney with a wonderful exuberant group of young, fit, healthy yoga teacher trainees. One of the yoga teacher trainees Louis was teaching a drill for Crow pose preparation and we had to repeat this drill time and again. For a bit of fun and extra inspiration, Louis challenged us to a competition to see who could stay in crow pose the longest. Naturally thinking that I wasn't young enough, strong enough, flexible enough, courageous enough, I decided at first I wasn't going to participate, not even for fun But then something inspired me to give it a go, a baby step, a tiny toe tap, and so I did, it was fun, and after a while I managed my first crow pose! Interestingly the song I relate to this pose, is one that Lewis played during that teacher training - grandmothersphere by East Forest, the particular line being I didn’t transcend my ego, we became partners, we became team mates I hope this musing gives you that extra inspiration to try something, even just a little baby step out of your comfort zone today. Crow Pose strengthens the wrist, forearms, and abdomen while stretching your upper back. It improves balance and core strength. Mastering Crow builds your yoga confidence and opens the door to many more poses involving arm balance.

13.01.2022 Monday Musings this week by @tomleithead who shares his advice for anyone wanting to begin exploring the practice of yoga. I think it is really important to remember that it is called a yoga practice not a yoga perfect, there is no such thing as the perfect way to do a pose but there is the perfect way to do a pose for your body. Our bodies are so different and each yoga pose will look different in another persons body, so dont be hard on yourself for not going a...s deep into a pose or being as flexible as the person next to you. If you are patient, keep showing up and maintain a regular practice, you will begin to notice changes in your body over time. Yoga has taught me to be patient, I enjoyed yoga when I started because it was challenging for my inflexible body and I had to be patient as I slowly gained more and more mobility over time. This patience I have shown myself has flowed on to having more patience and understanding with the people in my life. You can practice with Tom Thursdays at noon in a heated Vinyasa class and Fridays at noon to Rest and Restore. See more
12.01.2022 Our latest blog is ready for you. Feeling well isn’t accidental A regular wellbeing practice doesn’t create itself. A regular wellbeing practice requires us to respect that all aspects of us require some nurturing and attention and creatively prioritise the inclusion of them into our days. This is both critical and very interesting and you can read all about it in our blog written by @kelly.dalby Check it out here https://www.myallwellbeing.com/feeling-well-isnt-accidental/
12.01.2022 We just loved our home away from home during our 5 day escape - an immersion into the breathtaking nature and surrounds of Gnarabup and the Cape to Cape thank you Nic and team for your warm and welcome hospitality, we look forward to our next time staying with you
11.01.2022 Monday Musings this week are bought to you by Emma. We all have favourite songs that bring back memories, good and bad, of a particular moment or event in our past and whenever we hear that song we are transported back in our mind to that time. I have the same experience with particular yoga poses. Across the next 4 weeks Im going to share my 4 favourite yoga poses/sequences, the reasons why and the memories that they trigger for me.... My experience with yoga is only relatively short, my first foray into an 8-week beginners course at 8 Limbs Yoga in Leederville with my good friend Lisa was in 2002 and in 2009, I found yoga as a means of therapy for recovery after a total hip replacement surgery. If only I had of experienced yoga before then I might not have needed that surgery at such a young tender age. This week Im reflecting on my memories that are triggered when I practise Vajrasana (otherwise fondly known in the western world as kneeling or in Japan as seiza posture.) Casting my mind back to my first experience of this pose was not so comfy! I was living in Japan in the 1980s and was invited to attend my first Japanese tea ceremony! And kneeling, otherwise known as seiza is the posture required in these very formal ceremonies and in fact also in traditional daily life in Japan. So I have not so fond memories of pins and needles in my legs after just 30 seconds kneeling! Believe it or not this is currently my favourite yoga pose. I practise it every morning and up to 3 times a day as I kneel in front of our studio laptop setting up for our live stream classes. I kneel there for up to 5 or 8 minutes at a time and can honestly say this pose is now (after 3 months of daily practise) very comfortable for me. Like anything we do, including any yoga pose, they become easier with practise, over time. Vajrasana is one of the easiest yoga poses to perform knees bent, legs are folded under you, the soles of your feet faced upward, with your buttocks on top. I love the way this pose really stretches out all the leg muscles. Interestingly it helps facilitate digestion, relieve constipation, strengthens the legs and also supports weight loss.
11.01.2022 A few words from our teacher @kelly.dalby on why she shows up to class with @fenrd Tiny movements but many of them create such isolated heat, and instantly you are reminded why you got out of bed to show up for yourself today. To feel committed to yourself... To feel strong in those moments of discomfort To meet your body and move your body and walk away feeling accomplished Ferns precise instruction amplifies the sensation, her joyful encouragement sees your through to the final moment that I sometimes seems far too far away Warm, moved, and ready for the day This is why I show up at 7am to move with Fern, even if it is via zoom and from the comfort of my own home. 08.01.2022 Enjoy this piece written for International Yoga Day 2020 This International Yoga Day I honour the unity of the practice. ... A tradition and practice that is all inclusive A practice that invites you to come as you are To bring all of you A practice that reminds us in its scriptures and teachings of non-attachment. Non-attachment to how you believe you need to arrive, and how your practice should unfold or be A practice that strongly urges you to soften A practice that insists upon meeting yourself with compassion A practice that encourages exploration Encourages universal perspective A practice that reflects our behaviours, our choices and our tendencies right back to us A practice that requires you us to leave our judgements at the door and bring our self respect, curiosity and truth onto our mat and into our space and all for what? So that we can radiate that pure, whole and complete essence of ours out into the world The perfect, most accurate representation of nature which is the most perfect role model of human behaviour. 07.01.2022 The first Monday Musing for 2021 has been thoughtfully and heartyfully written by Emma As I reflect on the year that has been and my intentions for the year to come, there is nothing clearer to me than the immense importance of connection, care and community to maintaining optimal holistic wellbeing (ie. physical, mental and emotional). During the past 12 months especially but also since we opened the doors of Myall Yoga & Wellbeing studio in Perth CBD, it has been a real cha...llenge for me juggling priorities, maintaining balance, nurturing relationships and at the same time finding time for self-care. With that said, I was interested to learn about Dunbars number where researchers have shown that there are only so many close relationships you can handle at any one time. Researchers theorise the closer, and more complex, the relationship, the fewer people you can handle on that level. In fact the number of very close relationships that our brains can handle is five. This is called the Dunbar number and it includes family members, too. Your mum, dad, your child, a sibling and maybe one or two close friends are the people you interact with pretty much daily, or at least weekly. This makes sense because there are literally only so many hours in the day to interact with other people, so our time available for nurturing relationships is limited. The next level of friends expands to about 15. These are less close, but still considerably close relationships, which includes the friends and family we see one to two times a month. Then you can have about 50 people in your ‘active network’ - the less close friends you have ‘drinks’ with every three months. And the maximum capacity your brain can handle is 150 acquaintances. These are the people you’d place in the 'I’d recognise at a house party’ category. People can move up and down these relationship levels as time goes by and as we go through different life stages. We may float in and out of each other’s lives depending on how similar or different our life stages are (and that’s OK!). So my wishes are for 2021 being a year filled with abundant and unconditional love, joy, kindness and compassion for all, our inner circle, our close relationships, our active network and beyond. May we accept with grace that which we cannot change and acknowledge with gratitude the opportunities to make small changes and the ripple effect that has on those around us, our family, our community, our environment. Would love you to #feel and #belong with me at Myall Yoga & Wellbeing Studio as we maintain connection and care with our ever growing and supportive community.
07.01.2022 This International Mental Health Day we at Myall have both an invitation and a blessing for you. We invite you to reframe your ownMental Health as something to nourish, to take care of in a preventative nature, to place as much importance on this aspect of yourself as you would any other area of your life, your physical health, your relationships, your career. It is our hope that you feel love, know you belong here, and become even more deeply connected with your natural st...ate of peace and happiness than ever before. Mental health is a serious matter, and one we aim to support through the practices, programs, treatments and corporate wellness and community we offer at Myall.
07.01.2022 We cannot outsource our self care. We can outsource our cooking, our cleaning, the maintenance and servicing of our car, even the babysitting, caring of, and teaching our children but not this. No one is going to make our good choices for us or even decide what is a good choice looks like for us...this responsibility is ours and ours alone. 06.01.2022 Monday Musings this week are bought to you by Emma, from her happy place. I asked her what she loved the most about island living and how she might bring aspects of this lifestyle back into her days. Just a 30 minute ferry ride away is a small slice of paradise where there is time to chill and appreciate the simple things in life, the extra sensory delight of the sun rise, the blue sky, the warm sun, the fresh air, the cool ocean water, the sunset and the clear night sky.... Appreciating with gratitude the smooth running of the services provided and especially the efforts and enthusiasm of friendly staff. Embracing the good vibes of families, friends, couples, singles, adults and children alike mingling, playing, exchanging smiles and joyful greetings. Taking time to rest, restore, reground, rebalance and reflect on how this makes me feel in my mind, my body, my heart in this precious moment. With overwhelming gratitude and renewed enthusiasm for the Myall purpose, my pledge for 2021 is to practice all of the above daily and in doing so continue to inspire care and connection for self and for community. I look forward to seeing you back on the mat with me in studio this Saturday 12 noon and meanwhile wish you all a happy new year, may 2021 be filled with love, joy, creativity and abundance for everyone
06.01.2022 We are one week into our 30 Day Challenge, and have some beautiful feedback to share with you from a young woman who has stepped forward to join us for the challenge. We met @_danielle.adams while offering classes and workshops down at @studyperth She says I can't believe the strength I feel in my mind & body after just one week, it feels weird calling it a challenge because it's actually been a remedy to all of my uni stress. I am especially loving the lunchtime classes, b...ecause taking the time out to connect with myself gives me the clarity to make the most of the rest of the day in the library! It’s been a real game changer and I’m so grateful We love to hear about the journey of our community, and love to know that your practice is supporting the other areas of your life. Thank you for joining us this month Danielle! Have a beautiful Sunday everyone and see you on the mat this week! Photo @sabinealbers
05.01.2022 How lucky we are to live alongside this incredible coastline! What are you grateful for today? 05.01.2022 We asked Mikaela to share her thoughts on her own personal practice and why yoga is an important part of her life... "Yoga is my checkpoint. A place I come back to that tells me whats happening in my subconscious mind. If I arrive on the mat, and my mind chatter is negative, impatient, or scattered, I know that I might need a few extra hours of sleep, a good journaling session, or that it might be time to let something go. It keeps my body and mind ready f...or service, and creates a buffer that allows me to be a bit more lighthearted and enjoy life that little bit extra." Mikaela also shared the poses that challenge her and how they became an important teacher... "The pose my body least likes is any intense arm balance as I have an old wrist injury so it can act up after one too many crow poses or chaturangas. Im thankful for these poses because they taught me an important lesson on ego. I used to push through every vinyasa cue to keep up with the class and on multiple occasions ended up not being able to practice for weeks. Ive learned to skip chaturangas and take modifications where I need to depending on how my wrists and shoulders are feeling that day. Its taught me a lot about paying attention to whats happening in my body at every stage of the pose, knowing when to pull back, and about being compassionate and non-judgemental with myself during the practice and beyond." You can join Mikaela Tuesdays 5.15pm for a Heated Vinyasa and to Rise & Shine 7am Thursdays, both available in studio and via live streaming See more
05.01.2022 From the depths of our heart to the depths of yours, please know this... We are so grateful for you, our community. As though we had been training for this very period in time.... 04.01.2022 We are this excited about the challenge buzz around the studio! We kicked off our 30 Day Challenge on Monday and classes have been delightfully full! 04.01.2022 Monday musings this week are bought to you by Emma and might just motivate you to dedicate yourself to something that intentionally starts your day as you wish to go on. Getting up at the crack of dawn, especially on a Monday and especially during the winter months can be tough - its dark and cold outside and it takes a whole lot of extra willpower! I remember this challenge clearly from my days working in corporate, and I still experience it now when my a...larm goes off at 5.30am and I commando roll out of bed. What I can say for sure, without doubt and without exception when I arrive at the early morning class (or in our case at the studio our 7:00 AM yoga or mat Pilates class) its well worth it. After class, I feel so much more alive and ready to embrace my Monday morning and the week ahead. Ive missed the peak hour traffic, Im raring to go with all that extra energy and vitality that I know for sure comes from starting my day moving and breathing my body whether its my yoga practise or mat Pilates, or a brisk walk outside. It sets me on the right path, with the right mindset and Id love for you to join me and experience that feeling of being ready to go. And in case our warm cosy studio is not enough of a treat for your body and mind and spirit first thing in the morning, a bonus that we will offer you as an extra bit of an incentive for joining us in studio at 7:00 AM from Monday to Friday during winter (for yoga on Monday and Wednesday with me and with Mikaela on Thursday, for mat Pilates with Fern on Tuesday and Friday) is a complimentary coffee expertly brewed just for you by Laurence and his team at Community Coffee Co, our new neighbours at 55 St Georges Terrace. 02.01.2022 With little over one week until our cape to cape hike and yoga retreat, to say we’re excited is an understatement
02.01.2022 Monday Musing this week is bought to you by Emma, with another favourite pose and its place in her journey. Crow Pose (Bakasana in Sanskrit) is another yoga pose that brings back a fond memory and a particular song for that matter. Ive always said that what I like about yoga is that it is a practise not a competition or an event, yoga is for every body.... Naturally thinking that I wasnt young enough, strong enough, flexible enough, courageous enough, I decided at first I wasnt going to participate, not even for fun But then something inspired me to give it a go, a baby step, a tiny toe tap, and so I did, it was fun, and after a while I managed my first crow pose! Interestingly the song I relate to this pose, is one that Lewis played during that teacher training - grandmothersphere by East Forest, the particular line being I didnt transcend my ego, we became partners, we became team mates I hope this musing gives you that extra inspiration to try something, even just a little baby step out of your comfort zone today. Crow Pose strengthens the wrist, forearms, and abdomen while stretching your upper back. It improves balance and core strength. Mastering Crow builds your yoga confidence and opens the door to many more poses involving arm balance.
01.01.2022 Do you have 5 minutes on this Monday? An invitation to ponder over your practice and what it brings you at this stage of your journey. When is you favourite time to practice right now? We all reach for our practice for different reasons, and at different times in our life it will provide something else for us...inspiration, groundedness, creativity, a quieter space for the mind, a sense of belonging.... What is your practice offering you lately? Have a beautiful Monday and we look forward to sharing a practice with you this week.
01.01.2022 What an adventure this will be
01.01.2022 This weeks Musing is by Kelly Dalby - Holistic Health Coaching I write this musing inspired by a conversation I had with Emma a few weeks back on outsourcing our choices, and particularly handing over responsibility to a teacher to push us. We attend classes to be guided, this much is true, but if we know ourselves better than anyone else, we know our own tendencies to pull back when opportunity may be present to hold on, to be strong, and to access and develop the parts of o...urselves that feel really empowered. In yin yoga we talk often about letting go, about giving ourselves permission to change our mind, or to exit a shape completely and for me, in a vinyasa class my tendency is to want to take that child’s pose instead of a flow whether I need it or not. We must continue to ask ourselves what it is we need and what we truly want and take the moment by moment responsibly that exists as a result of that awareness. If I need to nurture myself during a practice I will look out for the moments that support that If I want to develop strength in my body, within certain poses or within myself it is my responsibility to be present enough to spot those opportunities within a class or within my practice and attempt to dial it up myself with compassion. Often I suprise myself and realise I was stronger than I thought! We can show up to class for a teachers insight, their creativity, their experience, their presence, and their sequencing, but with us we must bring our own gathered wisdom regarding ourselves, our awareness, our intent, our own experience and our self responsibility to honour ourselves within that practice including our present desires and known tendencies. A relationship exists between teacher and student but a relationship also exists within ourselves with ourselves and this relationship we hold with ourselves governs every single thing we do. A little something to carry into your next practice with you. Have a beautiful week everyone.
