20.01.2022 As many of you may know, we had a fire on our South hill last Nov. It started on the neighbour's property from a downed power line. We have been doing some cleanup there in recent days and cutting some of the dead Wandoo trees for firewood. But we used a large diameter tree to make this log seat at a nice lookout place. And then picked up rocks to start another Ovoo (rock mound). It is a beautiful view from there. And if you walk to the South West corner of the property you c...an even see the Perth skyline! Thanks to Dutch backpacker, Maarten, for his help on this and other projects. Nice weather this last week but we need rain to get the creeks flowing. See more

19.01.2022 A great inspiration: https://www.findhorn.org/aboutus/vision/

17.01.2022 Been doing a bit of burning ahead of the restricted fire period coming up in another week or so. Weather has slid back into wintery rain but the temps are creeping up and the days getting longer. Hopefully some more fine weather next week to do some more burning and other preparations for summer

16.01.2022 Came across this Echidna today at the farm. One often sees their diggings but they are rarely seen. And shy too as I couldn't get him to poke his head out! Such neat little creatures.

16.01.2022 Trying to burn some dead pine branches in between rain showers. Nearly done with this one but maybe another 4 or more to go in this area to south of first dam on eastern branch of Myara Brook (or 11th hole on Frisbee Golf Course for those who know it). Am not a big fan of pines anyway but I would like to know why so many hv died in recent years? Old age or water or fungi or ??? There was also a big loss of Wandoo and Marri trees a few years back, and then one year maybe 15 years back where all the Tree Ferns along Waterfall Creek died. The Wandoo and Marri have come back but not the ferns unfortunately. But if any of you enjoy a bonfire then you are most welcome to come and help. Have only another month or so until the restricted burn period starts so now is good ... but especially after a few dry days!!

15.01.2022 Good day friends of Myaravale. Has been some beautiful weather this Autumn but we need some good rains for the dams before long. Some stunning sunsets. At the suggestion of friends who have visited and/or worked at other rural farms/retreats around the world, we intend starting an open work/fun day on the first Saturday of each month. So the first day would be Sat 4th June. People are welcome to come on Friday night or Sat morning, and to leave on Sat late afternoon, or to ...stay over and leave some time on Sunday. There are always many jobs around the place - planting, weeding in the veggie garden; picking and pruning in the orchards; fertilising; general cleanup and burning; cutting and storing firewood; construction; fence repairs and new fencing work; developing and/or enhancing some bush paths; and lots of others. And at the end of the day we can hopefully get in some fun activities such as Disc (frisbee) Golf, Horseshoes; Darts or just sitting around the outside fire watching the sunset and enjoying a beer or two!! We will provide some basic food and drinks but hope people will also contribute with their own preferences. There are beds in shed etc for early arrivals, and always a couch or two. Or otherwise bring a tent!! Kids are always welcome but you will need to keep an eye on them around dams and slippery rocky slopes. Looking forward to seeing you all at some time if and when you can make it. Best regards, Tom Myaravale - Eco Farm & Retreat (in the making!) See more

15.01.2022 Have lots of Lemonades (sweet edible lemons) to sell if you know of anyone interested. We would normally sell at markets for$4-5 per netting bag full which works out at approx 50c each. If someone is wanting quantities or to sell wholesale then we can further discuss price. Those helping out around the farm (such as this weekend's busy bee / open day) are welcome to help themselves to a bag or so for free!! The Subi Markets were a good outlet for many years but it is a lot of effort and extra cost and hassle for the small returns. Much happier to sell direct from farm. Have again put some free samples out for cyclists on the Mundabiddi bike trail. Had some positive feedback about that initiative last year!! Cheers for now :))

14.01.2022 Jetty repair completed. Huge thanks to Gideon for 3 days of hard work and also to Thyda who helped this morning.

13.01.2022 Spring is in the air!! Bobtails, wildflowers and now the Peacocks are trying to mesmerise the Peahens!!

13.01.2022 Yeah .... Big waterfall just started early this morning!! Checked yday and the dam upstream was still filling. Always so fresh and energising. Still waiting for stream out of the East that flows into top dams that we irrigate from to start flowing soon. Last year it didn't start until mid Aug and then only flowed for 6wks. Certainly it is looking a much better start this winter.

07.01.2022 The first of my much awaited Italia grape vines reaches the top of the grape arbor! Yeah ... bring on the grapes soon. Meanwhile I have planted some beans n other veggies in the Berry Garden to accompany the Blueberries which are now producing in small quantities. Yumm
