22.01.2022 We suggest listening to this insightful podcast focused on the Minister for Aged Care and the issues in the aged care industry. We agree that the government needs to listen to the expert advice available for them and call on help and insight where they need it. #agedcare #australianagedcare #elderly #homecare #7ampodcast

21.01.2022 As aged care coordinators, we understand that the key to determining the solution for every individual client’s needs is not a uniform process. For example, one client of ours suffered a stroke and moved into a facility to receive appropriate care. When he moved in, he was very shy and didn’t speak to anyone until one day, a stray cat came into the facility and walked straight over to the client, who immediately perked up. Over time, we saw him open up in the presence of this cat, who would sit with him and play. We discovered the same client responded well to music. Through this, we saw the importance of observing clients to see what will work best for them, rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all approach.
20.01.2022 Aged Care Tip - Approved Home Care does NOT mean Allocated Home Care. When you apply for a Home Care package, you may receive a letter letting you know your package has been approved. However this doesnt mean you have been allocated one. Your package may be approved but you may be down the bottom of a list of 120,000 people who have also been approved for home care. ... Contact an aged care consultant to help you understand your home care options.
20.01.2022 Today we want to share a special story we received from our partner organisation Menarock LIFEs Willowbrae Home. Alf is a 98-year-old WW2 veteran. Some of our team joined Alf to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VP day on Saturday 15th August. Normally, Alf would be at the RSL having lunch, a Carlton draft and catching up with family and friends on this very important day. ... Due to COVID restrictions, this could not happen. Alf wore his suit, medals, army hat with his battalion banner and Australian flag! He stood as did we to the National Anthem. We joined Alf wearing uniforms too! Our PPE! At Menarock enriching the lives of others, being part of their journey when in our care we consider a privilege and an honour. Thank you, Alf, for your service to Australia Thank you for the peace we enjoy today because of your contributions Thank you for being such a good sport with your smile, ready wit and your shining personality! You looked very dapper in your uniform
20.01.2022 We were reminiscing the other day about one of our clients a very mentally sharp, former solicitor who had severe Parkinson’s. He entered care as his wife was running a business from home and could not care for him. We soon found out he was passionate about books when he started running the library in the facility. It was great to see him in his element, making phone calls and organising the books staying engaged through his activity.
20.01.2022 We know that the biggest priority for those with loved ones in care is assuring that their family members are safe and receiving a quality service. This article provides a two-minute snapshot of how government spent taxes on care and where improvements were made over the last financial year.
19.01.2022 At My Care Path, we are dedicated to providing suitable options that cater to our clients’ needs. Thank you Allan, for your positive feedback, we are happy we were able to help!
18.01.2022 We are excited to see this development in our industry. The $563 million boost will make a tremendous impact in developing the aged care workforce. Most importantly, involved in this scheme is a payment that is designed to stop aged care workers moving between facilities. Our industry needs to join together to move through the difficulties we are facing. #alliedhealth #healthcare #development #health #agedcare #publichealth
18.01.2022 Aged Care Tip - don't make promises you can't keep. It's easy to make promises such as 'I'll always look after you' to an ageing parent, however we often make these promises when our parent is healthy. Once their situation changes and their physical and cognitive health is in serious decline or their doctor informs them it would be unsafe for them to live at home independently, you have to reassess the situation and adjust those past promises if your loved one's health is at risk.

17.01.2022 Just because we grow older does not mean don’t want to continue living! Quality research into what is working in aged care is critical to ensure we continue to improve our industry. High-quality care is essential in every aged care home in Australia, alongside ensuring we fulfil a high quality of life for all residents. #agedcare
17.01.2022 There is a common belief in our society that the elderly prefer to remain in their own home rather than live in aged care. While this is an understandable presumption, and choosing to stay within your own home as you age is a genuine and legitimate choice, its not always the best option when our health declines and everyday activities become almost impossible. www.mycarepath.com.au/dont-rule-out-aged-care-it-could-be-/

16.01.2022 Michael Pascoe highlights the complex decisions our clients face when deciding whether to move their loved ones to aged care or to care for them at home. It is crucial to understand that different care options carry associated costs, and its important to consider this in advance to ensure good care and high quality of life. 16.01.2022 What a lovely way to give back to those in the community who are less fortunate over Christmas!
15.01.2022 We are overwhelmed with gratitude from this wonderful feedback. It is extremely important to us to get to know our clients and we are equally saddened saying goodbye!
14.01.2022 My Care Path supports a meaningful and substantiative change to the industry based on the findings and recommendations within the Aged Care Royal Commission. We believe Mr Keatings proposed actions, which could safeguard the housing security of older Australians while still providing them with a high standard of care, is an interesting approach, however, not something that we should jump into without due consideration. Currently, there are a variety of options available to assist people to pay for their care and remain secure in their home and we dont believe that many people will be comfortable accepting care when they know they are creating debt for future generations.
14.01.2022 I am a passionate believer that aged care is about choice. Ageing is a natural part of life and we hope that we will all see our parents reach their senior years. However, with the ageing process comes the need for aged care. For many of us, a role reversal happens where we begin to give our elderly parents the care they often gave us while we grew up. This is often an emotionally overwhelming time but then you need to dive into what is often an unfamiliar world with plenty of jargon RADs, DAPs, Level 1 home care package (HCP), additional service fees etc. www.mycarepath.com.au/paying-more-for-aged-care-might-save/
12.01.2022 What a wonderful way to keep the mind active, get fresh air and socialise all at once! Keeping residents engaged and active is crucial in keeping them healthy and happy.

10.01.2022 The prospect of loved ones not receiving the care they deserve due to inadequate staffing is heartbreaking. After the evident issues identified in the aged care sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, we support the introduction of legislated minimum staff ratios.
10.01.2022 Aged Care Tip - Making an aged care complaint. There are wonderful aged care homes and carers out there, but sometimes we worry about what happens if we suspect something isnt right? 04.01.2022 Aged Care Tip - is your ageing parent happier at home? Many of us assume the elderly are happier at home but this may not always be the case. Depending on the persons physical and cognitive health and social networks, home can sometimes be a lonely place. Rather than constantly fighting to keep mum or dad at home, ask yourself if they may be happier in an aged care home where their nursing needs are taken care of 24/7? ... Generally if an elderly person needs 24/7 nursing care and lacks regular social interaction, an aged care home can be a happier place to be. Call My CarePath on 1300 755 702 or visit www.mycarepath.com.au if you need help finding aged care for your loved one.

01.01.2022 Scott Morrison has this morning signalled the need for further restrictions to protect those living in aged care homes around the country against the COVID-19 (...Coronavirus) outbreak. There is a strong possibility that access to aged care homes across the country could be heavily restricted in the next 24 hours. If you have a loved one in aged care, today could be the last day to visit for at least a couple of weeks. The Prime Minster spoke to Sky News Australia this morning, saying that the government considered restricting visitation to aged care facilities, with advice expected to be given to the national cabinet tomorrow. www.agedcareonline.com.au//Australian-Prime-Minister-Issue
