19.01.2022 My thoughts on SLIM & I (PG) Directed by Kriv Stenders, this highly entertaining feature length documentary takes an in depth look at country music legend Sli...m Dusty, as seen through the eyes of his wife and tour manager Joy McKean, a talented singer and songwriter in her own right, who along with sister Heather (who is quite the character) had already achieved fame prior to meeting Slim. Stenders has done an awesome job in telling their story. He makes use of a wide variety of archival footage, including family home movies, together with a fair chunk from the 1984 production The Slim Dusty Movie. There are also extensive interviews with Joy and children Anne and David Kirkpatrick. Singers Paul Kelly, Keith Urban, Missy Higgins, Troy Cassar-Daley and Kasey and Bill Chambers also talk about how Slim and Joy influenced them and perform some great covers of the duo’s music. It’s currently screening at the cinemas around the country(except Victoria). I thoroughly recommend it. My rating 8-10 Heres the trailer : https://youtu.be/ZgA8DMzjzlk
