25.01.2022 How are you Shorty? Recovered from the storm? We hope you are okay. Before we call it a week, I have to give a shout out to my amazing staff. We were one of the 10,000 or so still affected by power outages on Tuesday morning but, because of them, we still managed to serve our community in the wake of the storm.... Loren our new pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager Lauren, Tracy and Tara each went above and beyond to make sure My CP weathered the storm literally! And, Dad, the Generator you bought me a few years ago from ALDI sure came in handy! How you turned up at the pharmacy at 8 am Loren, even after a full-on 24 hours was incredible. Lauren and Tracy, no power at home and your own storm mess to contend with wow. Tara, you didn’t skip a beat and we were one staff member down! I am so grateful to each of you for your super hard work and your abilities to serve our community with a smile even while dodging generator power leads! So thankful for your commitment to our pharmacy, our team and our community. Have a great weekend everyone. John.

22.01.2022 How well do you know your bones? Every day our body breaks down old bone and puts new bone in its place. If we don’t eat right and don’t get enough of the right kinds of exercise, our bones can become weak and even break. This Healthy Bones Action Week we are giving a shout out to the 3 simple things we can do for stronger bones. ... Eat a well-balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D Calcium Rich Foods = Dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt), green leafy vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale), beans/legumes, nuts/almonds. Good sources of vitamin D = egg yolks, fish, liver, and milk with vitamin D. Some people may need nutritional supplements to get enough calcium and vitamin D. Get safe sunshine The Cancer Council tells us ‘for most people, adequate vitamin D levels are reached through regular incidental exposure to the sun. During summer, most people maintain adequate vitamin D levels just by spending a few minutes outdoors on most days of the week’. And plenty of physical activity Like muscles, bones become stronger with exercise. The best exercises for healthy bones are strength-building and weight-bearing, like walking, climbing stairs, lifting weights, and dancing. It’s never too late to take care of your bones. Lucky for me - we have Sue, an expert podiatrist, in the pharmacy every Monday and Saturday, so I visited her clinic for assessment and advice. ... Turns out I have a natural deformity that is causing my foot pain. Sue made me a temporary device, giving me instant relief and gave me practical advice about changing my shoes. I have a family history of leg swelling so she also gave me a circulation review and conducted a doppler and pulse assessment of my foot. Needless to say, I am impressed!
