23.01.2022 Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated or confusing. It seems daunting when you’re always second guessing yourself and your choices (That’s what I constantly did) That’s why I’ve partnered up with Fitden to put out solid (and free) content so that you’re second guessing yourself a little bit less. ... 20.01.2022 You may have heard the saying there is no such thing as being too busy. I can’t agree more with this statement. I recently attended a webinar where one of the speakers said these words of wisdom: Saying you’re too busy is the adult equivalent of the dog ate my homework. A lot of us, myself included (in the past) like to use the excuse of being too busy when I turn an invitation down or have to cancel an appointment.... Truth is, we commit to what’s important to us. And there’s no shame in that. Often we’re just afraid to be ridiculed for what we prioritise so we use the excuse of busy-ness as a get out of jail card. Sometimes we feel like we just have too much on our plate, and that makes us feel too busy. Usually the solution is to create systems and habits that allow you to automate your behaviours so that you get to spend time on other things. That’s what I do (and have done) with my clients; not give them a meal plan that takes away even more time. The next time you feel like saying you’re too busy for something, ask yourself questions: - Is this a priority right now? - If it is, can I use habits to free up time for this? Or can this be turned into a habit itself? Talk is cheap. It’s your actions that reflect your priorities. Just something for you to ponder over the holidays. 07.01.2022 I’ve always wondered why we reserve specific foods for specific times. Like cereal for breakfast. Apple crumble for dessert. Smashed avo for brunch* In terms of nutrition por health, it doesn’t really matter when we have what.... Of course its different when we talk about timing meals for exercise or competitions, where the meal composition matters. Otherwise, whether you have that lasagne first thing in the morning or after dinner is not going to make you fatter, leaner, more healthy or less healthy. Once we remove any preconceptions we have on what food we should be eating according to the time, we open up a world of options for mealtimes. More options mean more opportunities for us to get in nutritious meals based on our schedules and lifestyles. Struggle with getting enough protein? Having a steak for breakfast could be your jam I say this, but my only agenda is to normalise #frenchtoastfordinner #healthylifestyle #mealprep #mealplan #nutrition #dietitiansofinstagram #fitness #crossfit #macros *You might want to go easy on these if you’re looking to get into the property market
04.01.2022 If you asked me what is the ONE thing that will positively impact your goals, I would say its sleep. Whether you’re wanting to lose fat, gain muscle, lift bigger weights, run that extra mile or even just feel like a normal human being again, getting enough sleep is crucial. Sleep is when the body and mind resets and regenerates. It primes the body to support whatever goal you’re after.... It even helps you retain information or skills learnt during the day. Sacrifice sleep, and you’ve basically studied or practiced for little or nothing(I regret the all nighters I pulled in uni, would’ve been top of the class otherwise ). Quantity and quality are both important. Aim for 7-9 hours every night (Competitive athletes potentially need up to 10). Try to get the room pitch black and minimise fluids before bed, so you don’t wake up to pee. Avoid caffeine 6-8 hours before your bedtime and see if that helps you sleep better. Bear in mind that some sodas contain caffeine. Invest in the best mattress and pillows you can afford. There is no rest for the miserly(and wicked). Sleep well my children Post in the comments if you have any questions about sleep! #sleep #recovery #nutrition #nutritioncoach #nutritiontips #fatloss #musclegain #performance #fitness
