24.01.2022 Did you know that you can easily create your own beeswax food wrap? This is a great alternative to using plastics! Check the full recipe below! INGREDIENTS cup beeswax 2 tablespoons pine resin... 1 tablespoon jojoba oil 4 squares of 100% cotton muslin fabric EQUIPMENT small saucepan glass pyrex measuring cup parchment paper baking sheet 1 wide paintbrush clothes drying rack Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 225F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 2. Melt the pine resin in a double boiler over medium heat. It takes a while for the resin to fully melt, but once it does add the beeswax. 3. Stir using a wooden or bamboo stick until the resin and wax are completely melted together. Then slowly drizzle in the jojoba oil. Turn the heat to low to keep it all melted. 4. Place one square of muslin on the parchment and use the paintbrush to brush it all over with the beeswax mixture. 5. Place the baking sheet in the oven just long enough to fully melt the beeswax. It should only take a couple of minutes. Take it out of the oven and spread the beeswax around again with the paintbrush, so that the whole muslin cloth is coated evenly. Then take another square of muslin and lay it on top of the first square to blot up the extra wax. Flip the two squares over so that the blotting square is now on the bottom. 6. Return the baking sheet to the oven briefly, just long enough to liquefy the wax. Remove from the oven, and hang the first piece of beeswax coated muslin on a clothes drying rack to dry. 7. Use the paintbrush to spread the wax on the blotting square, which is now your working square, and repeat the whole process again. Once they are all dry, they are ready to use! 24.01.2022 One of the better-known health benefits of honey is that it is able to help treat sore throats. Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, honey not only soothes throats but can also kill certain bacteria that causes the infection. Drop a bee emoji if you love honey as a natural remedy!

23.01.2022 One of the beautiful parts of beekeeping is watching the birth of larvae, or a "ba-bee" (baby! )! What do you think?

23.01.2022 While gathering pollen, the honey bee also pollinates flowers as she accidentally carries pollen from flower to flower. When a pollen grain combines with a flower egg cell inside the flower, a seed begins to grow. Bees pollinate many crop plantsplants that give us food like oranges, apples, and watermelons. Drop a if you think bees are fascinating! Share or tag someone!

23.01.2022 How are you all keeping up, friends? We hope everyone is safe and healthy! Happy Friday!

20.01.2022 BEE FACT: Although all bees need pollen at some stage in their lives, not all bees gather it. Male bees do not collect pollen, and have no pollen baskets (corbicula) with which to transport it from flowers to the nest or hive. Did you know about this? Tell us what you think!

20.01.2022 #BeeFacts The queen bee has control over whether she lays male or female eggs. If she uses stored sperm to fertilize the egg, the larva that hatches is female. If the egg is left unfertilized, the larva that hatches is male. In other words, female bees inherit genes from their mothers and their fathers while male bees inherit only genes from their mothers. Fertilized eggs hatch into female bees (the worker), while unfertilized ones become male honey bees or drones.... Drop a and tag someone who loves bees!

18.01.2022 Heres one way to attract bees to your garden Bees will be drawn to flowers that are in clumps of one metre or more. So if you can, plant your bee-attracting plants in clumps around your garden. Want to keep your garden simple? Lavender and borage are popular with bees and tend to grow to 1m+. Bees require pollen all year round, which means they need flowers. So to nurture them, youll want to have at least a few plants that flower in each season. Head to your local nursery and pick out a couple of varieties for each season.

According to one study, it can also relieve coughs more effectively than over-the-counter medicines that contain dextromethorphan (DM), a cough suppressant. 04.01.2022 Aussie and proudly local! Did you know that our honey products are Australian Certified Organic? Read more! Organic Honey means the honey was produced from a bee farm that follows the strict standards of Organic Beekeeping. Specifically, it means that bees get the nectar from flowers that were not sprayed with chemicals and that the bees were not given antibiotics.... Here in Australia, organic farming certification is issued by the Australian Certified Organic (ACO), and we are proud to say that My Dads Honey is one of the few local producers that are officially certified by ACO that adhere to the Organic Beekeeping and Honey Production Guidelines. If youre looking to buy raw and organic honey and ensure its high quality and authenticity, always look for the Australian Certified Organic logo (with its certificate number) found in its bottle label or packaging. 03.01.2022 Did you know that honey has antibacterial and antifungal properties? Research has shown that raw honey can kill unwanted bacteria and fungus. It naturally contains hydrogen peroxide, an antiseptic. Its effectiveness as an antibacterial or antifungal varies depending on the honey, but it’s clearly more than a folk remedy for these kinds of infections.

03.01.2022 FACT: Beeswax never goes bad itself, the same with honey. However overtime with use, the protective wax coating on your beeswax wrap will be worn away. When your Beeswax Wrap has reached the end of its life, you can dig a hole in your backyard and bury it unlike plastic, it will return to the earth without a trace.

02.01.2022 Raw Honey VS Commercial Honey VS Organic Honey The main difference about Raw Honey VS Commercial Honey or Supermarket Honey is that Commercial Honey has been processed in a high-temperature heat. These are mostly pasteurized - that is heated at 70 degrees Celsius or more, followed by rapid cooling. This is done to make the honey easier to handle when packing. When heated, honey becomes more fluid, thus it is easier to filter and bottle. In addition, filtering makes it loo...k cleaner and smoother in texture as it removes pollen and other impurities. But pasteurization does not only change the texture and taste of honey but also affects its nutritional value. Raw Honey is not filtered, it is likely to contain particles from the beehive including pieces of pollen, honeycomb, beeswax, and even broken parts of a bee (wings, leg, etc). Raw honey is only strained thus it looks cloudy compared to the clear appearance of filtered commercial honey. On the other hand, Organic Honey means the honey was produced from a bee farm that follows the strict standards of Organic Beekeeping. Specifically, it means that bees get the nectar from flowers that were not sprayed with chemicals and that the bees were not given antibiotics. Here in Australia, organic farming certification is issued by the Australian Certified Organic (ACO). Read our blog to learn more https://www.mydadshoney.com.au/bl/what-is-raw-organic-honey
