23.01.2022 In the current COVID-19 environment, the government and health experts have advised the community get the flu vaccine as soon as it is available through their G...P to help reduce the strain on our healthcare system. Members of the community have been advised to get their age appropriate vaccine as soon as these are available. For those aged 65 years and over, the government has recommended they get the age-specific, influenza vaccine. The RACGP has strongly advised everyone to call ahead with their GP before booking in to get their flu vaccinations to make sure the right vaccine is available as the supply dates vary across states and regions. We thank GPs , their healthcare teams and all health professionals in addition to a number of other essential services who are working on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic. #weappreciateyou

21.01.2022 Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day The day aims to focus global attention on the problem of physical, emotional, and financial abuse of elders. It also seeks to understand the challenges and opportunities presented by an ageing population, and brings together senior citizens, and their caregivers, national and local government, academics, and the private sector to exchange ideas about how best to reduce incidents of violence towards elders, increase reporting of such abuse, and to develop elder friendly policies. Be aware and be prepared to speak up against any abuse.
