19.01.2022 MY Film Reflection Series: Ngu Ghulling Bulmba 'I'm going home' This film is a series of films produced by the Mandingalbay Yidinji People over the years and is a reflection of our journey... where we have come from as a people... where we are going as a people... and our shared vision for the future. "We as a Mandingalbay structure [people] have really come forward since the 70s, when I was a kid. My Dad, brother Vincent Mundraby and the Uncles and Aunts... obviously unde...r the Bjelke Petersen era that in itself speaks for itself in the political arena... honestly under the Bjelke Petersen era I didn't think they would make it... but here we are today and that speaks volumes and that is one thing as an elder... I am proud of". Lance Mundraby, Mandingalbay Elder. "I want my mob to be learning these things, keep it in their head and keep on going with learning and creating what they are going to do and don't ever give up". Helen Bulmer, Mandingalbay Elder. "I would like to see our young mob in jobs trained up and skilled to run their own country... that's what I would like to see. I'd like to see our young ones trained as rangers... and back on our own country and that is where our young ones should be" June Mundraby, Mandingalbay Elder. "At the end of the day there is going to be a lot of a challenges along the way... internally with our own mob but also externally. The biggest factor that we can achieve... the most important thing we can achieve is that ensuring country is there for the future generations. If it's not there for the future generations then we haven't done our job now and we have let down the old people in the past with continuing that journey. Whilst we are here in this generation it is most important that we ensure that there is a future and with that future there is a package for investment... and so that we are not struggling like we are now and if we can achieve that I think the spirits will be happy". Dewayne Mundraby, Mandingalbay Traditional Owner. Disclaimer: Please be aware that this film contains images, voices and names of deceased persons, which may cause sadness or distress.
