25.01.2022 Lets not compare ourselves to what others have achieved or are doing, for we have no idea of their journey or process to get there. This quote reminded me of something that happened a few weeks ago. I started running for the first time in 6 years. Running... something I thought would be absolutely impossible for me to ever do again without considerable pain. Sure it was only for 5 minutes on the first day, but I was running!! As I ran up-hill past a woman standing by the s...idewalk she called out "Wow Im Impressed, I wish I could run but theres no way I could!". I turned around and saw that she had a sad look on her face. When she looked at me she saw me as a "runner". She has no idea that this was my first run in 6 years, after years of pain and training I can now run very short distances, but she looked at me as if my running was symbolic of her inability to do so. I know that for years when I saw someone doing something I couldnt do, it would trigger sadness, anger and frustration within me. But how do I know that the person surfing or kayaking hadnt overcome huge obstacles to get to where they were just like I had? We look at the body of a model and wish we had the same toned stomach and small arms, but how do we know that she didnt go through something tough to get to where she is? You really dont know unless you know. This was a huge lesson for me as I was for once on the other side of this situation. Trying to be something that is outside of our capabilities is not fair on our mind or spirit. Accepting where we are in this moment and moving forward is all we can do. I will no longer wish I was anything else other than what I am, because I cannot be anything else. We can only be ourselves and that is a beautiful thing.

23.01.2022 Yes. Yes. Yes. Who needed to read this right now?? Getting through means you are brave! It doesn't matter if you aren't dealing as well as you'd hoped. Simply surviving and breathing means you are winning. It's okay. ... Things can change - but for now just keep breathing until it passes. See more
22.01.2022 Right here and now is the only moment that exists. There is no past. There is no future. There is only now.
21.01.2022 ...and my goodness how good does the sun feel? The simplest of of things. Not just its warmth, but the miracle that is the sun. The smell of a small flower, the sound of the water lapping up on the shore, the little birds in the trees- I hear it all now. I love it all and I appreciate it all. I am thankful that my painful experiences have brought me to experience nature in a new way with a new awareness. I know that these changes are all a part of growing through traumatic experiences, and I am so grateful for this growth.
21.01.2022 I wrote an article which has been published by SBS Australia!! My article is about my personal experience and journey with Endometriosis. You can read it at: https://www.sbs.com.au//endometriosis-battle-how-i-got-on- ... What an incredible opportunity to have my voice heard and to be that voice for so many other women that have similar stories to mine! Beyond grateful for the wonderful crew at Insight with SBS for allowing me to tell my story and portraying it exactly how I wanted it to be. Let me know what you think
20.01.2022 We all know that having appreciation for the small things in life is great, BUT did you know that it can be helpful with pain!? If we notice the little tiny things that bring us joy in life, this creates a more positive energy around us. Less stress = possible lower pain. Pain can make it very difficult to make future plans and think forward, so focusing on what is right in front of you is so important for feeling at peace and comfort with where you are right now. Being hap...py with what we have instead of always looking for the next thing can lead to becoming constantly unsatisfied in life. So how can we see the small things and appreciate them? Here are a few ways: 1. Track the good things that happen for you. In a journal, your phone or on small pieces of paper. Look at them when you're not feeling very well, or at the end of each year. 2. Thank people for the small things they do for you. 3. Compliment someone in a meaningful and genuine way. 4. Appreciate YOURSELF in small ways. YOU are worthy of love and affection so show it to yourself! 5. Practice mindfulness. When you practice this, it allows you to notice the little miracles in life happening around you. <3

17.01.2022 Some ways to increase serotonin levels! Let's go through some of them: - Food: You can’t directly get serotonin from food, but you can get tryptophan, an amino acid that’s converted to serotonin in your brain. Tryptophan is found primarily in high-protein foods, including turkey and salmon! - Exercise: Exercising triggers the release of tryptophan into your blood. Tryptophan increases the brain chemical serotonin! - Daylight: Spending time in the sunshine appears to help in...crease serotonin levels. - Supplements: Some dietary supplements may help to jumpstart the production and release of serotonin by increasing tryptophan in the body. 14.01.2022 Life has sadly taught us to believe that our periods are gross and not to be talked about. We don't talk about periods. We hide pads and tampons discreetly when going to the bathroom and we also hide our pain. I went to an all girls school and even then, we hid our tampons! Why!? For us women that suffer with Endometriosis, we deal with an unimaginable amount of pain - and not just monthly. Spreading the word about Endo helps spread the word about periods and how it's not n...ormal to have excruciating period pain! I love this artwork by @selfcarexpress because it reminds us all of this. The more we talk about periods and menstrual cycles, the more we can re-shape how the world sees periods. It's time to be the change we want to see!

04.01.2022 Just as Frida Kahlo said, we can endure much more than we think we can. Painful experiences, as painful and tormenting as they are, allow us to see what we can truly get through. We see the world differently now, through eyes of compassion, understanding and empathy. The painful experiences allow us to grow in a direction that we would never had grown unless we had been through them. ... It allows us to appreciate and rejoice in the smaller things in life, and really see progress even if it is being able to walk 5mins more that day without pain. We all need a reminder to not be so hard on ourselves, and instead look back at how far weve come. Even if it doesnt feel like weve come far, we need to simply acknowledge that we are surviving it in the best way we can manage. Even in our wildest dreams, Im sure most of us wouldnt believe that we would be still standing after all we have been through, yet somehow we are. Beneath the exhaustion, anxiety and feeling like we simply cant go on, we have an underlying strength and determination that gets us through it one way or another. Never ever ever underestimate your strength, and never forget the bad times youve gotten through because we have survived 100% of them so far. We are in this together Emilia My Endo Care
