24.01.2022 Sun dial remodel Old, hydrophobic, root riddled, rocky soil under rotting bromeliads. Half a day spent breaking up what was worth saving before shovelling 5 large wheelbarrows of soil full of organic matter (the star of the show from @melindamarysol - comfrey tea). ... Planted out with wonderfully high quality herbs from Mudbrick Cottage Herb Farm. Herbs you don’t see just anywhere such a blue lagoon, Huntington carpet and golden rain rosemary; perennial coriander, Anderson’s Gold thyme, giant red mustard, Brazilian spinach, curry plant, wild rocket, endive salad king and more! Nicely watered in. I’ll keep an eye on them but try hold off on giving them much water for a fortnight...the theory being holding off hydration encourages roots to go out in search of water which in turn really establishes a strong foundation.
23.01.2022 Pulled off another wedding...been a minute! Photos when I come back to the land of the living
23.01.2022 Protect those gardens QLD!
21.01.2022 It’s not all success though. When planning out the garden I didn’t factor corn in...but it was brought home one day so had to try fit them. The only spot didn’t get nearly enough sun...so here they are...barely 30cm high with the tiniest cobs I’ve ever seen! Don’t have much hope for their flavour but figure the chooks will probably still eat them. Bless. Kinda cute really.
21.01.2022 Finished recoating this deck. Full sand back, patch and 3 coats of water based deck stain. Get to yours before it’s too hot to cure.
20.01.2022 Helped my mum out in the garden while she was on a brief and swell deserved holiday. I always get nervous when I make unilateral decisions. Haha
20.01.2022 It’s been an honour checking over these girls daily. Everything wants a bite. I get it...they are enticing!
20.01.2022 It's not often I see blooms growing and not only not know what they are...but have never seen them before in my life. I had two in one day today and they are equally lovely.
20.01.2022 Ummmm. There’s an alien in the garden.
18.01.2022 Ahhhh. These zinnias are continuing to slay with their colour show.

15.01.2022 Know the difference... I've had this question a few times in the past couple of weeks: lady bugs vs. asian lady beetles one is good; one is bad!!! https://www.facebook.com/diplyfacts/videos/10155675464431028/

12.01.2022 Helping the ladies prep for the day of love. Come see Roxy Stock (best name) and the ladies at Vintage Flower if you know what’s good for you.
12.01.2022 Lovely photo of the first Borago officinalis (borage) flowers that I sprinkled around way back at Autumns end. ‘Ingesting Borage can make some people feel a rush of adrenaline as if they put on armor. Energetically, Borage allows us to hold boundaries with others. It allows us to fill up our own cup first before others, especially for those with Kapha energy who tend to give more than they take. Lastly, Borage can be paired with Oats to nourish a depleted nervous system, and accompanied by the ally of Rose to feed an exhausted heart. This holds to be a strong pairing especially if a person has just experienced trauma with the passing of a baby, trouble with the womb or menstrual cycles. Being an herb of Jupiter, it brings hope and optimism through times of tunnel vision.’
11.01.2022 Sexy cucumbers. You know it.
11.01.2022 I've put the kettle on. After the rain last weekend, Euphorbia drummondii aka caustic weed, has taken off in my nursery area and in the pavement in front of my ...home. The sticky latex sap is toxic and highly irritating to skin, causing skin to become photosensitive to sunlight - and burning. Even when this common weed is dried and dead your skin may react on contact. Never, ever wipe sweat from your face when working on this or any other species of Euphorbia. Wearing gloves is advisable, especially for nursery workers who often have regular or extended exposure to caustic weed sap: it is also a known carcinogen. While 15% of all plant species may be threatened with extinction, this little native is unlikely to disappear. Boiling water kills this plant and most of its seed. And the results are instant :-)

07.01.2022 An interesting look at an alternative to growing orchids. I always cringe when I see their roots all squished and sad.
