23.01.2022 What an awesome bunch of staff at Family Doctors Plus Windsor! Dr Maria Boulton and Dr Fiona Raciti have developed such a positive and encouraging team. Had a great arvo with these guys. Thanks for choosing My First Aid Course for your annual refresher!

23.01.2022 Update on all First Aid Training through My First Aid Course Hi to all of our awesome facebook followers :) On the 19/3/20 The Australian Resuscitation Council recommended that all First Aid (and CPR) Training be postponed till the Covid-19 Pandemic has abated & expert opinion is there is no longer any risk to those involved in such courses. ... The First Aid reference committee (IRC) then left the door open by stating that RTOs (and partners of such) perform a risk assessment when deciding to continue providing First Aid (and CPR) training or not. After careful consideration and even though we would like to carry on training for the safety of our clients and our trainers MFAC decided to cease all training and closed all of our public and group courses going forward from Saturday the 21/3/20. We appreciate this has put some of our clients in a difficult situation as some of you require it for your jobs. Please accept our sincere apologies but we have made this decision for the broader protection of our clients and the community. At this stage we are unsure regarding when we will return to training. We can say though as soon as we are given the green light we will begin again. Meanwhile keep an eye on our posts as we will update this status as soon as we are able. Stay safe and look after your families. Please take the directions the Government provides and we will look forward to seeing you all again soon. Yours sincerely, Mal Thompson My First Aid Course

22.01.2022 Had a great day with Spiders Boxing ClubCaboolture on Saturday the 14th of July. What a great crew! Some cool video here of some very junior CPR! What an amazing Lady Kylie Burford is. One heck of a Club President! Organised the training, prepared the food, taught her Daughter CPR and opened up the venue. Just another day for Kylie who works tirelessly for her community, her family and this awesome club! And does she ever stop smiling!! ps. Note the Manly supporter being rolled into the recovery position below. Ouch!! I am a Manly supporter too but this year I think we went into arrest!

Remember we sell legit snake bite bandages which are far better than just a compression bandage. We also sell Survival First Aid kits which all have a proper snake bite bandage in each kit

16.01.2022 This took place in a Noosa Gym last October. This Lady is now calling for AEDs to be legislated across the Country. 500 cardiac arrests per week in Australia but not many are captured on video. https://www.msn.com//watch-gym-staff-save-woma/ar-BBTEVDC

09.01.2022 Should I use tweezers to remove tics? Never actually. Freeze them and they simply fall off. So much more to learn about bites and stings. If youve never done a First Aid Course be sure and do one soon whilst our Sping Sale is on at My First Aid Course Deagon. http://www.sbs.com.au//how-tick-bite-could-make-you-allerg

08.01.2022 The weather has warmed and the rain arrived so we are well into snake season. As such we have stocked up on the very clever smart bandages that stretch from a rectangle into a square when applied correctly to a casualty as part of pressure immobilisation treatment. If you have done one of our courses recently you will have seen and used them. Add 2 for $20 each to your first aid kit and be prepared for venomous snakes, funnel web spiders, cone shells and blue ringed octopus. Contact us via Facebook or email orders through to [email protected] Read the following article for the latest info on snake bites. https://www.flyingdoctor.org.au//flying-doctor-issues-new/

07.01.2022 Its that time of year again when Irukandji make their way down the Qld (and now Northern NSW) Coast. Many will be either going or already on holidays so this may be a very important read. Many who have done our courses have asked about whats appropriate to use for Marine (Tropical) Stingers so here is the Science behind what to use and do if you are stung by one of these tiny but oh so painful jellyfish. Note that Lisa (below is an Irukandji researcher) and this is her op...inion based on her research. Note that at MFAC we have always taught that the application of Vinegar is the first response as per the ARC guidelines. For those of you interested in more detailed information on the use of VINEGAR versus HOT WATER for the treatment of jellyfish in the Irukandji or Box Jellyfish family, please read below. Key points: * Different Jellyfish have different first responses * Use VINEGAR as a first response for Irukandji, Box Jellyfish, Morbakka. * NEVER use hot water, as it makes the situation worse. * Doesnt matter where you are, if you believe its one of the above use VINEGAR. * Call 000 and seek urgent medical help.

06.01.2022 Would you know what to do if this situation went pear shaped? Talk about a close call!! At My First Aid Course we train in all major bites and stings as well as sell legit Snake bite bandages and kits.

05.01.2022 Bystander CPR saved David’s life. So thankful for all those who renew their CPR yearly and refresh their skills. Please share this video in the hope that many other average Aussies will take up the challenge to learn this life saving skill.

03.01.2022 Such a sad story this one: http://mobile.abc.net.au//tasmanian-toddler-choke/9499166

02.01.2022 AED units are in huge need in our community but there is still no Government legislation to ensure we have them. Cardiac arrest is by far the biggest killer of Australians. My friend Anne lost her husband to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest like so many. Can you take a minute and read and sign her petition? Thanks so much, Mal Thompson

01.01.2022 Had a great/fun day first aid training at Trevena Glen Farm with Katie and Lindsay and their team on the 3/9/18. Wow if you have kids and they like farm animals dont miss out on visiting their farm in Mt Samson just west of Warner. They also do horse riding lessons each week if youd like your child to learn to ride. Amazing staff, amazing place. Highly recommended!! All photos used with permission from the staff.
