As a result, menarche a girl’s first period can be a disconcerting experience for many girls. But parents, mentors, and friends of Mighty Girls can turn this milestone of womanhood into a much more positive and empowering experience. 03.01.2022 A Mighty Girl Pick of the Day: "Mothering and Daughtering: Keeping Your Bond Strong Through the Teenage Years" by Eliza and Sil Reynolds. Many mothers assume th...at their relationship with their daughters will become strained in the teenage years. But what if mothers and daughters work together to make the teen years a time of closeness? This book offers two breakthrough guides in one: one for mothers, teaching them how to create a safe space for their daughters as they move into adulthood; and one for daughters, encouraging them to consider their mother their closest ally as they test out their independence. This insightful guide treats the mother/daughter relationship as a developing partnership, as a daughter moves from a dependent tween to a confident young adult setting out on her own. The authors provide more complex techniques for the moms, drawn from Sil Reynolds’ clinical experience, while the advice to daughters features age-appropriate suggestions for balancing the need for independence with a positive relationship with mom. Highly recommended for parents of tweens and teens and for girls ages 13 and up.
