25.01.2022 A look into a GP's Day - ps I'm not 30 but hey we can't have it all :) A huge thankyou to the My GP Family who always make me feel like being a GP is the most amazing, fulfilling and gratifying career i could have ever asked for : Dr Casey "I am happy to be the frontline in the governments war with coronavirus but I am being sent out there with no armour, no weapons and no leadership. I am 30 years old, a fully qualified GP, presumably diligent, passionate about primary car...e and still at the early stages of my career. For the first time in a long, long time I question my choice to become a doctor. I am burnt out. Some days I feel like I sacrifice my time, sanity and energy into looking after other people. But who will look after me?"

They might need to simply talk with you or they may need to talk with their GP who can definitely provide assistance. Look for these signs, because when we are struggling we may not be able to recognise them in ourselves.

18.01.2022 For those wondering about Telehealth bulk billed consults - please see below. Unfortunately these are quite restrictive and wont cover the general public wanting to get advice about their fever, cough or sore throat. We are running low on masks and soon we will , like other practices be unable to see any patients with flu like symptoms to protect both staff and vulnerable patients in the waiting room. Please call our reception and we can decide on the phone what we will do next to ensure your health care needs are covered. We can do most things over the phone already. Our inspirational Dr Russell DCunha is heading home to be with his family after a wonderful 18 months, as COVID continues to have major impacts on our docs hearts. We really wish you the best and we are so glad you know you will always have a home with MY GP. We will have two new doctors joining us next week to continue caring for Dr Russells patients but we certainly will miss his genuine zest for patients and life! Medicare data reveals on average nearly eight out of every 10 visits to the doctor were provided with no outof-pocket cost. In normal circumstances, My GP Tamworth does not bulk-bill - but the outbreak of COVID-19 brought with it skyrocketing telehealth consultations which doctor Casey Sullivan said almost doubled patient numbers. " The community-minded GP's in the region hav...e increased bulk-billing telehealth services during the pandemic," she said. "This however meant your usual GP would have doubled the number of patients they treated each day from approximately 30 to 60 to cover the cost of running the practice. "We certainly saw burnout and fatigue among our medical colleagues." The bulk-billing rate in the New England was 78.4 per cent for the 2019 to 2020 period, benefits in the country reached $24.7 billion. Dr Sullivan said she decided to offer telehealth because she was concerned about patients who had lost their jobs during the pandemic and had financial stress. "It also reduced the number of sick patients having to leave home to be treated, which greatly assisted in reducing the spread of COVID and influenza this year. "We would like to see the government approve mixed telehealth and physical appointments so we can continue treating patients from home and reducing the spread of illness." Dr Henderson is a recipient of the Order of Australia Medal and said he was humbled and excited to receive the award. He also said the patience of his family - his wife Jenny and children Alex, Anna and Jack - contributed to his success Dr Henderson previously worked in Barraba and Manilla for the past 38... years, was the director of Barwon Division of a General Practice from 2000 to 2006 and provided health checks at AgQuip between 2000 and 2008. Dr Henderson is also the adjunct lecturer, Faculty of The Professions, School of Rural Medicine, University of New England and conjoint lecturer, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle. 07.01.2022 If you have a non Covid 19 (corona virus) related medical need we can still do telephone consults. This will be a private fee and no medicare rebate meaning it will cost $81 which we can charge over the phone. You may not wish to attend practices while you are well to avoid others who may be sick and this is an option. Please discuss with our friendly receptionist.
