25.01.2022 As we approach Spring and peak pollen season , conditions such as hay fever and asthma can be mistaken for COVID-19 symptoms. It is important to understand the differences and to get control of your symptoms ahead of the season. Most people will know what their regular symptoms are but it is good to note the main difference: Viral symptoms are progressive and worsen quickly Allergies are reactive to the environment and tend to come and go... If you are unsure of your symptoms, consult with one of our GP's and get tested for COVID-19.

23.01.2022 On the eleventh day of Christmas, Myhealth said to me... Don’t Give Yourself A Christmas Stuffing! Christmas is all about getting together with loved ones to eat, drink and be merry. On this day we tend to enjoy the Christmas feast that has been made for us, but the next day everyone feels the aftermath of overeating; bloated and exhausted with a slight bit of guilt. ... This Christmas be aware of choosing healthier options, avoid snacking on the Christmas chocolates, watch your portion sizes and as tempting as the last slice of cake can be, leave it alone. New Year resolutions are around the corner, let's get started now! - Nurse Monisha and Peta, Myhealth Liverpool

17.01.2022 On the seventh day of Christmas, Myhealth said to me... Don't Forget Your Regular GP Appointment! A doctor you have built a relationship with is likely to better understand your needs, and recognize when something may change in your mental or physical health. Continuity of care with the same doctor can assist when a difficult or uncomfortable conversation is needed, if you feel it is someone you can trust. ... Having a regular doctor ensures a comprehensive understanding of your current health and family history and work towards preventative care. Your regular GP is more likely to pick up on symptoms that may seem simple but could indicate a more serious concern. - Nurse Samantha, Myhealth Forest Lake

17.01.2022 #WeRememberThem In Flanders fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow... Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. John McCrae (18721918)

14.01.2022 Are you getting enough quality sleep? Here are a few tips for a better sleep:... Keep a regular sleeping pattern - go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day Get the required amount of sleep - the average is 8 hours for adults but you may need more or less Relax before you go to bed - find your zen and turn off the TV, all devices and your mind to wind down Limit or avoid Alcohol, Caffeine and Cigarettes - alcohol may make you feel sleepy but will produce a poorer sleep If you continue to have trouble sleeping or always wake up tired, book an appointment with your doctor.

04.01.2022 Jeans for Genes Day #jeansforgenesau Sadly, 1 in 20 children are born with a birth defect or genetic disease. Genetic diseases are caused by errors in our DNA, the instructions for making ‘us’. DNA is the source of information for all the cells in our body, telling them what to do every second of every day. When something goes wrong with those instructions, it means some part of our body doesn’t function properly, leading to a life-threatening genetic disease like cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, metabolic disorders or even cancer. The best way to treat or cure many of these conditions is to correct the problem at the source, to correct the DNA. That’s what gene therapy does.
