16.01.2022 Such an important reminder in these time! Have you considered that your chronic tiredness, brain fog, and irritability might actually be trying to help you? Trying to tell you something very important?... Nope, not that you should 'just try harder'. Rather, that what is being asked of us (and the planet) is UNSUSTAINABLE and can absolutely result in feelings of burnout. Your inner critic may tell you that you are the only employee/parent/student/human struggling with this right now, that you are the only one who 'just can't cut it' or 'can't keep up', but please know that feelings of burn-out are actually widespread and growing. Millions of us are financially unable to take even a day to rest, experience symptoms of anxiety just in opening our email, or feel that the magic has gone out of our lives. And we suffer, silently, believing we are alone as the narratives around us try to 'normalize' even this. But what if our bodies are telling us what our minds REFUSE to accept: that our productivityfocused lifestyles are exhausting. In this narrative, allowing ourselves to prioritize recovering and healing practices has become vital. In healing, we stand in solidarity with the earth, our fellow humans, and the future we are brave enough to believe can still be. A future rooted in kindness and connection Please sleep until you are rested. Carve out time to honor how you experience sacredness. Set boundaries - with yourself, others, and society. Reconnect to your heart. Drink water. Every. Single. Day. You are not unproductive, lazy, or 'a failure'; you are a human at the frontlines, the bridge between the destruction we have created, and the transformation that calls us. Burn-out is real. Take care of yourself. We need you. The future needs you.

07.01.2022 Did you know that poor posture could have an impact on shoulder injuries? Forward rolled shoulders are a common trend that could have a great impact on the way our bodies should function, especially our shoulders. Carrying forward our shoulders can lead to a decrease in the motions we are able to perform. This is due to a muscle imbalance occurring when our shoulders are rolled forward. The muscles surrounding the shoulder begin to lengthen and/or shorten to compensate for the action occurring. This posture can also have an adverse effect on our entire body from causing forward head carriage to increasing the natural curvature present in our spine.

01.01.2022 #humpdaystudy Spinal Curves, Posture and Stress... Healthy curvatures can be found within the spine. When looking from a side on view you should naturally have a S shape to your spine. This curvature aids in supporting our spine during weight bearing activities, providing protection to our spinal cord and increasing health, wellness and overall body function. Posture can be a major factor influencing these healthy curvatures. Stress and our emotional responses can often infl...uence our posture and the way we hold our body’s. In 2015, 74 participants were randomly assigned to either a slumped or upright seated posture. In their allocated posture they completed a series of tasks. This resulted in those allocated with upright posture reporting reported a high self esteem, more arousal, better mood and lower fear" in comparison to those in a slumped position, who reported "more negative emotion words, first person singular pronouns, affective process words, sadness words, and fewer positive emotion words and total words during the speech." For the rest of this week, we encourage you to try sitting upright and see if it can affect your mood.
