25.01.2022 As we approach Spring and peak pollen season , conditions such as hay fever and asthma can be mistaken for COVID-19 symptoms. It is important to understand the differences and to get control of your symptoms ahead of the season. Most people will know what their regular symptoms are but it is good to note the main difference: Viral symptoms are progressive and worsen quickly Allergies are reactive to the environment and tend to come and go... If you are unsure of your symptoms, consult with one of our GP's and get tested for COVID-19.
25.01.2022 On the seventh day of Christmas, Myhealth said to me... Don't Forget Your Regular GP Appointment! A doctor you have built a relationship with is likely to better understand your needs, and recognize when something may change in your mental or physical health. Continuity of care with the same doctor can assist when a difficult or uncomfortable conversation is needed, if you feel it is someone you can trust. ... Having a regular doctor ensures a comprehensive understanding of your current health and family history and work towards preventative care. Your regular GP is more likely to pick up on symptoms that may seem simple but could indicate a more serious concern. - Nurse Samantha, Myhealth Forest Lake
23.01.2022 From the Chevron to the Handlebar, we support whatever Mo you grow! Movember is an opportunity for men to learn and talk about their health and take action when needed. Here are the top 5 things men need to know, and do according to Movember Australia. 1 Spend time with people who make you feel good. Stay connected. Your mates are important and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check in and make time.... 2 Talk, more. You don’t need to be an expert and you don’t have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening and giving your time can be life-saving. 3 Know the numbers. At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it’s right for you to have a PSA test. If you are of African or Caribbean descent or have a father or brother with prostate cancer, you should be having this conversation at 45. Know your numbers, know your risk, talk to your doctor. 4 Know thy nuts. Simple. Get to know what’s normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn’t feel right. 5 Move, more. Add more activity to your day. Do more of what makes you feel good. Get involved or donate: https://au.movember.com/
23.01.2022 If ever there was a more important time to ask "RUK?", it is right now. A conversation could change a life. If you, or someone you know is having a hard time, our GPs are here to listen and help. #RUOKDay
23.01.2022 Very important!

22.01.2022 #WeRememberThem In Flanders fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow... Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. John McCrae (18721918)
22.01.2022 This week is National Asthma Week (1-7) and as Spring begins so too does the season for asthma. Symptoms are usually a minor inconvenience but you should still book in to see your GP for an asthma review or if you think you may require treatment. ***Asthma symptoms can be confused for COVID-19 symptoms. Please be aware of what your regular symptoms are or consult a GP and get tested.***

20.01.2022 FUN FACT FRIDAY As Halloween approaches we thought it fitting to leave you with a spooky fun fact. We are born with 300 bones but by the time we reach adulthood these bones have fused together to form just 206 bones. Spooky! ... #FunFactFriday

17.01.2022 With just 4 weeks left until Summer , you may be starting to think about how to lose those extra kilos before the festive season. Something to consider would be lowering your carbohydrate intake. Over the past few years, there has been more and more research backing up claims that lowering your carbs can play a big role in weight loss. 16.01.2022 Have you ever heard of brain or cognitive training? As we get older, we tend to use our brains less as everyday tasks become familiar and we fall into a thoughtless routine. Think of your brain like your muscles; if you don't use it, you lose it! Studies have shown that older adults who found creative outlets like painting and other art forms improved several aspects of memory like recalling instructions and processing speed.... There are plenty of fun and interesting ways to keep your brain active and training. Whatever activity you choose, make sure it is new and challenging to you! Learn a complex skill game like chess Read a new book Visit a place you've never been before Learn to play a musical instrument Try new foods Join an activity like sport or dance Try a new art or craft Learn a language Download a brain training app
16.01.2022 On the twelfth day of Christmas, Myhealth said to me... Smile, Even If We Can't See It! This is a time to enjoy yourself, smile, be happy and spend time doing the things you want to do. But it is also important to remember that while we are enjoying ourselves and socialising, we need to continue being COVID safe. Try organising an outdoor venue for larger groups where you can stay 1.5m from people you don't live with regularly and maintain good hygiene practices like washing... or sanitizing your hands between tasks. And if you start to feel unwell or develop symptoms, pop on a mask, go get tested and seek further medical advice from your GP. Santa and his troops will be doing their bit to keep us all safe too! - Myhealth
