25.01.2022 My big year one boy!! So proud of this boy! He has bounced back from his sickness faster than I imagined and he is full of confidence in his new uniform and classroom!

25.01.2022 Please join me in lighting a candle for Willow and post a photo on this post. So sorry you had to go through that horrific torture. May you rest in Heaven with no more pain or hurt or suffering. If only we had known ... #hernameiswillow #T21community

24.01.2022 Getting some much needed vitamin D after 5 days in hospital! It may look like just watering the garden but while I watched Iziah do this I thought wow it’s so much more than that! He is getting vitamin D, being out in nature is proven to do all kinds of wonderful things for our brain, our emotional and mental health (which I could see straight away as his attitude changed automatically and he was chatting to himself happily) plus pulling the trigger on the hose takes a lot of fine motor strength in his fingers which will help with his writing which he will be doing lots of at school next week!

24.01.2022 Yay for icy poles! Getting better and better! Still not eating much, no breakfast but icy poles for the win! Oxygen still too low when he sleeps, and he still needs to have the oxygen mask at night so we are in for one more night (hopefully the last one!)

24.01.2022 New video of Iziah! It’s been a while since Iziah has been in a video, since it’s Down syndrome awareness month I thought I should post a little more to show how awesome people with Down syndrome are! For all Iziah’s fans that haven’t had a chance to have a conversation or meet him in person hope you enjoy getting to know Iziah and a few of his favourite things ... #downsyndromeawarenessmonth #theluckyfew

21.01.2022 Ahhh just rewatched this video of Iziah when he was 4! Cutest sweetest boy! Amazing to see how far his speech has come but also blown away by how clever he was at just 4years old! Watch this space will be doing another little interview video with him soon and posting it!

20.01.2022 Yay home time!!

16.01.2022 Just to keep friends and family updated, after over a week of fighting a sickness Iziah went into hospital yesterday, they are still yet to confirm what he has but treating it as bacterial pneumonia, he is on IV antibiotics and oxygen when he sleeps but thankfully he does seem a bit better today, even seeing a little bit of his cheeky, funny side again that I have missed for over a week! So grateful for our wonderful hospital system and medical staff and so grateful to see Iziah slowly improving. Tobin Hopper has been the most amazing dad staying with him overnight and battling all night to get him to keep the oxygen mask on. Thanks to all the support and help and messages.

16.01.2022 After 8 weeks off Iziah and Tate are back to school today! Iziah was soooo excited and he rode his bike all the way to school! I have a feeling he will be very tired tonight!

13.01.2022 So many more smiles today! It was a long day at the hospital but so relieved to have a diagnosis and see that cheeky smile back! Iziah has mycoplasma pneumonia (bacterial) and has been treated with antibiotics which are starting to kick in! His oxygen levels are still too low when he is sleeping so he has to stay at least another night but hoping he can be home in the few days.

11.01.2022 Yesterday was the Step up for Down syndrome walk and it was the first year Iziah managed to walk the entire distance! Big achievement and such a fun morning! It’s always heart warming to all be together as a community

09.01.2022 Happy world Down syndrome day!!! We made this video for Iziah’s class yesterday as the whole School celebrated lots of socks day for world Down syndrome day. ... Unfortunately Iziah wasn’t at school so we made this video, and his class sent us a video back! It filled my heart with such joy to see the whole School community wearing their socks and supporting world Down syndrome day! The teacher played a game where everyone put their feet in the middle of the circle to answer yes!! as the teacher asked questions like is Iziah our friend? is Iziah smart? can we help Iziah if he needs help? a whole class of cheerleaders, cheering for him, loving him and supporting him! Wow it made me all teary eyed! So blessed!

07.01.2022 Highly recommend you watch this amazing documentary and share it! Julia did an incredible job, she is so amazing!! (I had the privilege of meeting her at our local Down syndrome playgroup a few years ago) Education is power let’s hope more and more people come to realise the value of people with Down syndrome!

07.01.2022 Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in a long time! It’s been extra busy in this household with home schooling and having three little ones needing me all day! But it has been fun and we have actually, quite surprisingly, really enjoyed this time of slowing down, less schedules, less therapy, less rushing and hustling, more family time, more stories on the couch, more laughter, more cuddles, more hide and seeks and dance parties, more bush walks and home made cookies, more ...painting and more connectedness with each other. There has of course still been times where my patience has been stretched but I feel that’s just parenting in general with three tiny humans! Overall, I’m feeling grateful and my heart is full as I tuck my little ones in at the end of the day and they tell me how much fun they had! For now we will play it safe and stay t home a little extra, I know Iziah will Love to be back at school With his friends, I’m just grateful he has a best friend in his little brother Tate

02.01.2022 Such a great day visiting Iziah today! And so grateful to Tobes doing the night shifts! Iziah had much more energy today, he was allowed out of his room for a little walk down the corridor if he wore his duck mask! So funny watching him pretending to be a duck and say quack quack to everyone he walked past! Thanks to my mum Britta Momsen for being a duck with him and cheering him up with lots of fun games. ... It’s so good to see him getting back to his usual self more and more (although he is still exhausted and his oxygen levels are still pretty low). He gave me the biggest hugs and biggest smiles today and was laughing so much doing his physio blowing party poppers with Tobin (best dad ever just saying!). Feeling so grateful that we will be home soon, always puts things in perspective staying at a children’s hospital with so many children so unwell. Count our blessings everyday.
