19.01.2022 Here at My Local Vet, we use and recommend Bravecto. Especially this tick season, it is important to keep your fur babies up to date on their preventatives. Our go-to for fleas, ticks and especially the Deadly Paralysis Tick, is BRAVECTO!! For dogs, the Spot On works best. This product covers your pooch for fleas and ticks for up to SIX MONTHS! There is also the option of a 3 Monthly Chew, which works better for those fur-kids that just cant stay out of the family pool!... For cats, there is a Spot On that provides your little fluff ball cover for fleas and ticks for up to THREE MONTHS! Stop on by the clinic, get your fur-baby flea and tick free, by using the very effective and easy to give Bravecto! 15.01.2022 STORM WARNING TODAY!! Please make sure your pets are: Safe: keep them indoors during storms, bot avoid the bathroom! Pipes make everything outside echo louder!! ... Cozy: make their space, crate or bedding nice and warm with an extra blanket and a hot water bottle. It also helps to make them a bit of a Den or fort. This is to block out some of the lighting flashes. Distracted: Play classical music or a movie before and during a storm. This helps drown out the sound of the thunder. Activities like Kongs full of food, a favourite toy and cuddles from you go a long way to helping calm your fur-baby down. REMEMBER ~ Stay calm yourselves! If you are worried and anxious, your fur-babies will pick up on this and make it more scary for them. P.S: Dr Cam Day has an excellent resource available for keeping your pets calm during thunderstorms. See below for more information: https://petbehaviour.com.au/nine-steps-to-calm-your-dog-in/

09.01.2022 After surviving three days of team building in the wilds of Girraween National Park we’re back on deck and better for it! We learned how to use a map & compass, we went completely off trail (on purpose ), we carried 2 litres of Premium Tawny Port for 30kms and we almost burned the wrong map in order to light a fire! It was an invigorating experience that has definitely drawn us closer together as a team but it also showed us just how incredibly cohesive we already are!... Thanks for having us nature. We love and respect you deeply. Thanks to all our clients for your understanding whilst we were unavailable. We hope this experience together will help us to serve you and our patients better. Here are some highlights

08.01.2022 In this video Dr Rachel explains how to remove a paralysis tick from your pet. Remember, prevention is better than cure so if your pets aren't already protected by Bravecto AU then you need to get some today! Also, be aware that even if you remove a paralysis tick from your pet they will still require treatment to neutralise the toxin if they are showing any signs of envenomation. These signs can be subtle so it's best to have your pet examined by an trained professional.

03.01.2022 What are WE doing this long weekend? Team building in the wilderness! Check out the sunset from Bald Rock in Girraween National Park!
