26.01.2022 PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: This evening at 7pm, January 25, Mylor CFS Brigade will be sounding our station siren continuously for one minute followed by a minutes silence. This is as a mark of respect and condolence for the tragic loss of Louise Hincks from Happy Valley CFS during the Callendale/Lucindale bushfires.... If you can spare two minutes tonight at 7pm, please stop what you are doing and listen to the siren and take a minute to remember our fallen colleague. Many other brigades around the state will be doing the same. We pass on all our thoughts to her family and others affected by this tragedy. The sounding of the siren does not signify any threat to the community. Thank you for your support.
25.01.2022 Spot the difference between these two fire appliances that Mylor CFS has had over the years... The first photo shows a Bedford TK and was delivered to us in 1970. It held 2040 litres, went through the Ash Wednesday Fires and left us 16 years later in 1986. The second photo shows Mylor CFS’ newest appliance to date, having arrived in March this year. It holds 3000 litres and has many upgrades compared to our older appliances, including better safety systems for our firefig...hters. We think it’s safe to say our fire trucks have come a long way! 23.01.2022 Thank to you Cibo Stirling for your generosity and support.
23.01.2022 This time last year our firefighters were working shift after shift at the Cudlee Creek Fire. They continued working tirelessly on this fire, the Kangaroo Island Ravine Fire and many more well into the New Year. We couldn’t be more proud of the super-human efforts made by volunteer firefighters during this time
22.01.2022 A well prepared home during bushfire season is easier to defend and safer for the whole community so why risk it? Prepare now. Cut long grass and tidy up around your property. #bebushfireready #5minbushfireplan
22.01.2022 Total fire ban declared for tomorrow, 15th November. Remember, if you have had a fire today it must be totally extinguished by midnight tonight.
22.01.2022 Happy New Year! 2020 was a big year and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our volunteers and community!
22.01.2022 If you need information on the local fires please see the CFS website or contact the bushfire hotline on 1800 362 361 (TTY 133 677). They have access to much more information than the local brigades. This will help us concentrate on the job of managing our current operations at this busy time. Thank you for your understanding.
20.01.2022 A very generous gesture from our neighbours.
18.01.2022 It’s been one year. We are very proud of our member and the Upper Sturt CFS members who were on this crew.
16.01.2022 A New Year’s #FirefighterFriday profile! Meet Don Position in Mylor CFS:... Lieutenant, Hand smacker of trainee drivers who leave a hand on the gear stick, volunteer for almost all strike teams, try to get everyone else to do the hard work because I’m the oldest active firefighter in the brigade! Job/career: Retiree What made you want to join? Shifted to Mylor in 1984 just after the Ash Wednesday Fires and thought there was a need within the community to join. And I was young, fit and enthusiastic (those were the days!) What do you love most about being a volunteer? Working together towards common goals, meeting and getting to know a range of people, helping others, finding plenty of drinking mates! What do you do when you’re not volunteering? I played a lot of football and cricket (I have captained premiership sides in both). I have life membership of Mylor cricket, netball and oval committee. Have five grandchildren and like to be involved with them. I'm an enthusiastic tree feller, splitter of firewood and obviously I try to help and please my wife of fifty years!

10.01.2022 How’s your cleaning up going?
10.01.2022 Have you wondered what happens to all of the felled trees from the Cudlee Creek Bushfire? Here are some examples: 1) Hollow wood was relocated into the fire sca...r as shelter for native fauna (with Kersbrook Landcare Group). 2) Coarse woody debris was relocated into restoration sites where it will break down and encourage insects and birds for restoration of conservation areas. 3) Nearly 170 trailer loads of wood were collected by fire-affected community members who will store it for household burning in winter 2021. . It's all part of our district's recovery. https://engage.ahc.sa.gov.au/bushfire-recovery See more

06.01.2022 Total Fire Bans have been declared for Thursday 19 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe Yorke Penin...sula - Severe Murraylands - Severe Upper South East - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au See more

06.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. This year has been extra hard for so many which is why it is more important than ever to ask those around you if they are ok. Emergency workers, both volunteer and paid have contributed to their communities considerably, not just through COVID-19 but through the bushfires Australia wide before the pandemic. Please check in with an emergency worker, as well as their family and ask if they’re OK #rutripleok #ruokeveryday
05.01.2022 A little overview of what’s involved in becoming a CFS Volunteer! There is plenty more a volunteer can do than just responding operationaly on the truck. Have a read below! One difference to note is that Mylor CFS only takes cadets from the age of 14 years and older.
04.01.2022 Fire Danger Ratings are an indicator of how dangerous a bushfire could be if it did occur. It is not a predictor of how likely a bushfire is to occur. Do you know what the different ratings mean?
04.01.2022 Yesterday a crew from Mylor CFS including a member from Bradbury CFS helped DEW conduct the prescribed burn off of Stock Road. This is good training for our firefighters as it prepares them for the upcoming fire season!
03.01.2022 Then the rains arrived....
03.01.2022 With more winter weather on the way this weekend, it’s always worth being prepared just in case. If you’re planning on heading out while it’s raining, be extra ...cautious. If you see floodwater, don’t drive, ride, walk or play in ityou don’t know how deep the water might be or what could be hidden in there. Stay safe. Our volunteers are here if you need us, so if the rain outside becomes rain inside, give us a call on 132 500. If it’s a life-threatening emergency, call Triple Zero (000). For more tips, visit our website. https://www.ses.sa.gov.au/site/flood.jsp

03.01.2022 The Fire Danger Season has finally come to a close. This marks the end of a season that will be remembered by many for a long time to come. Members from Mylor CFS attended most of the significant fires within SA and many in NSW, putting in countless hours away from their loved ones, even when the fires came close to home within the Adelaide Hills. What we have experienced will have a lasting impact on us, but coming out of the other side of these events we have also gained comradery, new friendships and overwhelming support from the communities around us. Being a volunteer firefighter is one of the most rewarding jobs.
02.01.2022 A Christmas #FirefighterFriday! Meet Anna Position in Mylor CFS:... Lieutenant Job/Career: Senior Project Firefighter for National Parks What made you want to join? I joined when I was 11 as a cadet after my older brother had joined. Like with most siblings I was keen to get in on whatever my brother was up to. I haven’t looked back since! What do you love most about being a volunteer? It’s highly motivating when you get to see first hand the positive impact you have within the community. When you get to do this with a team of people that are like family it becomes even more special. What do you do when you’re not volunteering? When I get time between work, I like to catch up with friends, keep fit and enjoy creating paintings and pottery.

01.01.2022 The beginning of the prescribed burning season has arrived! Smoke that you might see could very likely be from National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia conducting controlled burns where they aim to reduce the threat of bushfires and improve biodiversity for our native plants and animals. Find out the amount of preparation that goes into a burn in this video. More information on where the burns will be conducted can be found here: http://tiny.cc/UpcomingPrescribedBurns

18.12.2021 Obituary for Louise Hincks: Louise Hincks joined the CFS as a volunteer at the Eden Hills Brigade on 27 July 1994 before transferring to Region 1 Operations on ...12 November 2008. Between December 2008 and 2019, Louise took a break from volunteering whilst studying, using her skills to go on and support fellow emergency services workers through the Stress Prevention and Management program. A loved and respected member of the Happy Valley Brigade, Louise held the positions of Brigade Finance Officer and Senior Firefighter. A passionate volunteer firefighter, there was nothing that Louise would not do to help someone. Yesterday, tragically, Louise lost her life on the fireground, doing something she loved. Louise was a much loved member of the CFS and will always be in the hearts of the CFS family. Statement from Louise’s family: Louise was a loving wife, mum, daughter, aunty, sister and caring CFS volunteer. She spent a lifetime devoted to the community and the Country Fire Service, which she loved. We are devastated at her loss. We sincerely thank every volunteer from the Country Fire Service who is currently on the ground, and particular the Happy Valley / Eden Hills brigades. Thank you to the community for their outpouring of love, support and for respecting our family privacy at this time.
09.12.2021 Tragically a CFS firefighter was killed yesterday and another injured at the Coles bushfire in the states South East. It is a sobering reminder of the dangerous environment that firefighters go into even with the great safety equipment and vehicles we have today. Our CFS family is strong and we will support each other through this loss. Our sincere condolences go out to the family of our lost firefighter who will be struggling at this time and our best wishes for the recovery of the injured firefighter. Join us in supporting our CFS community during this heart breaking time
