This is an all-ages virtual ride and global movement to empower women and girls in need to break down barriers with bikes. In rural developing... countries, distance, inequity and early marriage stand between young girls and their futures. With bicycles, there is a way forward. Bicycles help them confront these obstacles, take control of their futures, and create their own paths. 14.01.2022 Athlete Update 15 : Very interesting update from Olympian @madelineheiner What’s new Mads ?? I travelled to NSW for a one week trip at the end of June. Within days, COVID cases in Melbourne escalated, borders closed and the city went into lockdown. I decided to stay at my childhood home in Kiama, NSW, for what is now 9 weeks and counting.... I'm lucky to be able to continue my regular work in pharmacy consulting, as well as coaching my Run2PB athletes (both remotely). The resilence and positivity of my runners, many who are in Melbourne in Stage 4 lockdowns, continues to inspire me. While I would love to be running on my favourite trails around home, my body has had other ideas. While acquiring a stubborn 'dancers injury' in my ankle has tested my resolve, I've been focusing on rehab and recovery. Some additional weekend work in community pharmacies is helping me to achieve one of my goals for 2020, to build a new home for a family in a village in The Gambia, West Africa. I've visited Kunkujang village for the past decade and am proud to build a compound that will provide for 10 people who are so precious to me... Building in a rural village in West Africa is slow but we are around half way there I'm eager to be back running soon and keep making the most of the opportunities that 2020 brings.
