24.01.2022 Scott Morrison (ScoMo) How are you, sir? R U OK? You can't be having it any easier. You have the supreme bad luck of having everything you do and say scrutinised, if not by the opposition (and sometimes party-mates, hey?), then by activists like us #strandedAussies. Sometimes, in fighting for something, we get myopic and think that the only concerns people have to act on are ours. I've never had any political ambitions, not because I can't do the work, but because my sensibil...ities are easily shattered. Random internet comments of other Aussies, for example, telling Aussies abroad that it's just right that we're unable to come home because we sat on our bum for months, are something I take as a personal attack. We just have to wonder how that line of thinking started. So here I am telling you that you're doing a good job, sir. I don't have to know what goes on behind the scenes, but Australia is going strong at the moment and that's all I need to know for now. There is a reason that you're in the position you are in when the pandemic hit. It's because you're the best person for the job. Everyone, I think, is doing his or her best under the circumstances. Not everyone is going to be happy about the decisions made. Frightened Aussies at home would want the borders closed off indefinitely and #strandedAussies want them opened so we can come home, so whatever decision you make is guaranteed to piss one of us off. (What are the chances it won't be our side you piss off? #removethecap maybe? Hahaha.) I'm going to stop now as this already feels like drunk social media posting! I don't drink but when I get to Australia--no, as soon as I finish quarantine--I'm going to celebrate with wine and steak. Now, I'm off to drunk dial my airline because--yippee!--the flight cap has increased and I'd have to buy that lottery ticket. Wish me luck, PM! Oh, and also, #removethecap kthanksbye.

23.01.2022 This pandemic has taught many lessons. It's a shared experience among almost every nation that surprisingly hasn't brought all of us together. Instead of working together, countries shut each other out. Taking it even a step further, although not officially banning citizens and PRs from entering, Australia has managed to come up with COVID-19 measures that effectively does that, resulting in approximately 100k #strandedAussies all over the world. We're presumed to be intentio...nal carriers of the virus and as such, we deserve the hardships we're experiencing in struggling to return. Here's hoping that compassion and common sense prevail over fear-mongering and politicking and the worthy and obvious solution to #removethecap emerge soon. reposted from @newyorkermag on Instagram

20.01.2022 WORLD GRATITUDE DAY I also offer appreciation for the people who do something to help the person being comforted. May all who are in the position to offer assistance do so. Thanks to our great leaders for being a great mate to #strandedAussies! I know you'll find it in your hearts to #removethecap soon! ... Reposted from @ruokday on Instagram Today is World Gratitude Day and we're saying thank you to those who comforted us, offered a shoulder to lean on, checked in with us and listened when we needed it most. Who are you grateful to?

20.01.2022 I'd love to finally visit Fremantle Prison when I get back. Hopefully, that's soon. When Australia started the hotel quarantine system for international arrivals, news bits started coming out of people complaining about the room condition and food. At that time, nobody had to pay, so the obvious reaction of many people (including me, embarrassingly) was that these people were whinging unnecessarily. I started reading about people's hotel experience (not from the news but soci...al media sites) after I got bumped from my flight and the government decided to make people pay for the mandatory quarantine. The main concerns were lack of outdoor time and bad food. In short, prison-like. (Personally, I would take it. Heck, I would agree to pay to quarantine in a tent, even if it means peeing and pooping in the bushes. ) After the brouhaha raised about this system to justify having a flight cap, you'd think they'd at least make sure the conditions are topnotch, and take into consideration that the people quarantining aren't criminals. It's time to be kinder to #strandedAussies, to be more flexible about the quarantine system, and to #removethecap. Reposted from @visitfremantle on Instagram View from the top of Fremantle Prison. It seems unbelievable this prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and used as a place of incarceration for 136 years, before being decommissioned as an operating maximum security gaol in 1991. Visitors can step inside and do time with Fremantle Prison’s experienced guides on a range of fascinating tours. Visit our website to find out more. 19.01.2022 There are ways to address and manage this challenge. If the PM needs help, he only has to pick the brain of Aussies overseas. We are experts in various fields and can no doubt put together a workable solution in no time. Ask for help, if you need to. Bottom line: The solution is for the PM to #removethecap, not just increase it. 19.01.2022 What welcome news! I must say I'm loving the cautious flexibility of South Australian leaders. I believe that this news will be a huge help for #strandedAussies too. Easing of restrictions gives us a glimpse of a future where we have leaders who value compassion and common sense enough to decide to #removethecap. Thank you for the preview, South Australia. (Also, for Australian visa queries , please visit RPS Migration South Australia. )... Reposted from Steven Marshall From this Thursday, the border restriction with New South Wales will be lifted. This means people entering South Australia from New South Wales will no longer need to quarantine for 14 days. I sincerely thank South Australians for their cooperation as we continue to ease restrictions. Rest assured that the health and safety of South Australians remains our priority. #SouthAustralia #Adelaide #COVID19 #stopthespread #safeandstrong

18.01.2022 In my despair, I keep forgetting the people who are also suffering from the effects of the pandemic: those who had and have the virus; those who lost their lives, loved ones, jobs; the front-liners who risk their health for service; everyone who is making a contribution towards getting us through the pandemic. Activism can give people a myopic view of things. There are times when I think that our cause is the only thing that matters. I celebrate everyone todaythe lovers and ...the haters, the selfless and the selfish, the brave and the frightened. Whatever we’re doing and not doing, we are worthy. I celebrate the state of Victoria who has gone through so much. You are all worthy. I still believe that the Australian government can do so much more to ease the burden of #strandedAussies but I say thank you for getting 2,000 more per week home. Someday, perhaps, our goal to #removethecap will be realised. @cityofmelbourne for @jmoliva.photography

16.01.2022 This is our Australia now, a group of bureaucrats separated by party affiliation. Individuals who don't know what the others are doing. This embarrassment is much bigger than the problem of #strandedAussies. It's a problem of either character or intellect or both. It's never too late to acknowledge mistakes (and arrive at the very smart solution to #removethecap). You are all much better than the narrowminded measures you have put in place. We believe in you.

14.01.2022 A little Sunday positive Note from the Universe: "You remember that the thoughts you choose to focus on, from this day forward, will become the things and events of the rest of your life, no matter what anyone else says, no matter how scary things may seem to be." I offer today's #notefromtheuniverse to the #strandedAussies everywhere who are struggling to find light in the circumstances. May we find inner strength as we urge leaders to #removethecap.

11.01.2022 See, this is what I've always known about Aussies. We're creative and can come up with technological solutions to many problems. Locking people baselessly suspected of being carriers of the coronavirus up is not just NOT creative, it's monstrously primeval. The modern world is teeming with other possibilities. Our leaders need only visit social media sites and compile a list of suggestions coming from regular people on how to manage quarantine. Common sense, not high-brow spe...cialty education, is the most useful tool for this. The only real solution for #strandedAussies is to #removethecap. 08.01.2022 What a wonderful view! Vast expanses like this prove that Australia has the space to let international arrivals self-isolate. Why not in a campervan? The COVID-19 mobile app that allows for contract tracing was developed quite quickly. A similar thing can be created to monitor those allowed to self-isolate. This isn't for everyone, of course, but allowing other quarantine options relieves the hotel quarantine system, which paves the way for all #strandedAussies to come home.... It's a widespread problem that so far has not been addressed fully. The weekly cap may go up to 10,000 per week, but if the situation with airlines isn't managed, it would still be like lining up to buy a lottery ticket because the prize money has gone up a bit. The best solution, as it has been since July, is to #removethecap. Reposted from @australiasnorthwest ROOM WITH A VIEW Credit: @luv_its_you

08.01.2022 I received this hope-inducing email from Western Australia's G2G support team: "Dear G2G PASS holder, If you are considering entering WA after the 28th of September and are subject to a Quarantine Direction we encourage you to download the G2G Now mobile application ahead of your travel. This is an opt in app that allows you to prove you are staying at your registered suitable premises during your quarantine period. The app does this by having you take a photo every time a ch...eck in request is sent to you by WA Police. The App also affords you the opportunity to provide a daily health update and register that you have undertaken your 11 day Covid test. Use of the app confirms you are working with the WA Police Force and WA Health to monitor your quarantine and Health symptoms." While I know that this app is likely meant for domestic travellers, it bodes well for #strandedAussies, too, because it's a step towards possible quarantining at home for international arrivals who test negative, and then, removing the flight cap. Now, we just need for it to be successful. Good luck with this app, Mark McGowan and team! #removethecap
