25.01.2022 Our combined voices are being heard. Until 30 March when this takes effect, we have a high capacity for private Telehealth appointments that you can book online anytime with any of the doctors at KWMC. Please don’t delay any health concerns you have, as there is a risk they may worsen in the interim. If you have a Telehealth your doctor will advise whether it is safe for you to come into surgery or need a carpark consultation. The Telehealth fees are as similar to your usual gap amount that we could make it. If you are bringing your child in for a vaccination, please just have one adult accompany them and arrange care for any other siblings they may have. This helps with our social distancing measures and helps limit the number of people in the practice https://www1.racgp.org.au//telehealth-expanded-for-all-pat

25.01.2022 We are extending our opening hours from today! Monday through to Thursday we will be opening from 8am until 6pm and Fridays we will be opening from 7am through to 5pm! Saturdays will remain the same. Bookings available online via our website - www.kedronwavellmedicalcentre.com.au

In a few instances however, some patients will qualify for a bulk-billed telehealth appointment under the newly released item numbers. Patients who may be eligible for bulk-billing include: * Patients aged 70 or over * Patients aged 50 years of age of over and of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Patients * Patients who are pregnant * Parents with a child under 12 months of age * Patients with chronic health conditions * Patients with compromised immune systems * Patients who meet current national criteria for suspected Covid 19 infection

Keep an eye out for any photos of the team and share your pics in the comments for us to see! Don't forget to keep up the social distancing and hand hygiene. ... 15.01.2022 Each year, Dr Marea bakes delicious treats for the nurses and receptionists. From our family to yours, we wish you all a safe and happy festive period with your friends and loved ones.

15.01.2022 To all of our patients, friends and family We again appeal to you to have your say in stopping the construction of a large super clinic style facility at the site of the old Bowling Alley. Somerset Road and Nieppe Street already have significant issues with traffic congestion, and more vehicles means more accidents, parking issues and dangers for students and patients. There are 16 medical centres and 120 GPs within 3km of this site, and we believe there is no need for a lar...ge corporate entity in the area when there are already many family-owned practices doing a great job in caring for the area's residents. We invite you to click through and sign the petition, ready for council to review. https://www.epetitions.brisbane.qld.gov.au/petiti//pid/951

15.01.2022 Have you forgotten any paperwork or scripts in the back to school rush? We understand how busy it is getting everyone organised for the new school year! If you need to renew scripts, action plans, referrals or just get something checked, we have many appointments available today.

From our family to yours, we wish you all a safe and happy festive period with your friends and loved ones.

14.01.2022 Medicare provides funding for Health Assessments for people of various ages and conditions. This is done by creating an overall snapshot of your health. If you are interested or would like further information, please contact Reception on 07 3359 2160 to discuss eligibility and bookings.

13.01.2022 What a fantastic resource created by Children's Health Queensland!

12.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE In our increasing efforts to protect patients and staff, all patients will be triaged when booking, by a nurse on arrival and again by reception at the desk. This means that online bookings have been suspended indefinitely and will recommence when it is safe to do so. ... Our policies and procedures were updated today and everyone who is booked tomorrow (Monday) will have received a text. We will continue to do the same for appointments in following days. We thank each and every one of you for your patience as this will mean it may take longer on the phone, to arrive into the surgery and your doctor may be interrupted if the triage process requires this. The government have revised the criteria for who may be tested for Covid-19 due to decreasing supplies and increasing numbers of people. It may be that you need to self-isolate if you have any respiratory symptoms. Telehealth appointments via video or phone will be available from tomorrow and reception can assist with organising this for you, if appropriate. We hope to see as many people in clinic as we can but anyone with respiratory symptoms will be managed as required. Please reach out to us if you have any questions and ask anyone you know who visits us to like and follow our Facebook page as it will be updated regularly. Thank you again.

09.01.2022 A couple more happy snaps from Kate's mini bridal shower recently. Hi Dr Michael, nurse Georgie and Barry!

09.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE We are experiencing an unprecedented amount of calls into the surgery which is understandable and we hear your frustrations. The doctors are also needing access to outgoing lines to talk with you for the Telehealth consults so what we’d like to offer you is email access to request a callback. For anything urgent please persist with trying to get through on the usual number but for anything else, drop us a short email with your name and contact number a...nd we will call you as soon as we possibly can. The email addresses to use are [email protected] or [email protected] include a short note about how we can help and we’ll do our best to respond when there is a line available. CARPARK CLINICS Commencing tomorrow, the doctors are on a rotation of carpark duty. This means you will be seen by a doctor but possibly not your usual doctor. The team will advise you when booking which doctor is assigned to the carpark at that time. FLU VACCINE Please do not call to ask about flu vaccines. This page will be updated when they become available. At this stage, our best estimate is sometime in the next two weeks. This year, we will have flu vaccine clinics in the carpark by a doctor on rotation at set times in the morning and afternoon. This will help as many people get vaccinated while at the same time minimising your risk of exposure to anything else. The best course of action if you are only mildly unwell is to stay at home and rest. Thank you everyone for understanding. We’ve had some really positive feedback to the measures we’ve taken to protect you and the team.

09.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE Online Telehealth appointments have been expanded to allow all existing patients to book. Unfortunately, we cannot provide this service for new patients. Hotdoc capability will now allow you to book a short or long appointment with your GP. All of the doctors at KWMC are conducting Telehealth appointments. ... If you do NOT meet the Medicare criteria for a bulk-billed Telehealth appointment (always expanding to include more groups so we encourage you read the updated info on Hotdoc) then a standard appointment is $50 and a long appointment is $100. If you do not meet Medicare criteria then this fee is entirely privately funded with no rebate. We have tried to keep fees as low as possible and this is almost the same out of pocket expense you would have if you had attended the surgery. If your doctor has arranged for a script or medical certificate please allow time for the team to get this to you. The telephones are constantly ringing and they are doing their best to be quick with your paperwork. FLU VACCINE UPDATE Many people are enquiring about when these will be available and we are close to starting clinics. Keep monitoring our page for details being released soon. FEEDBACK We are extremely grateful to have received many wonderful comments from you during this pandemic. A special shout out to the family who purchased coffee for the whole team, thank you! It is definitely needed to keep us going! we will be here to help you for as long as we possibly can.

We are pleased to share that we have opened more dedicated flu vaccine clinics on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning the week of 20th April. We have delayed this for as long as we can but unfortunately from tomorrow the surgery will be only open from 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday. At this stage, our Saturday morning remains unchanged. If an in person examination is required, this will be booked at each Doctor's discretion based on their assessment during the Telehealth consult. We thank you for all your support and patience during this difficult time.

This short video helps us learn how we should put on and take off our masks, as well sharing where you can purchase masks. 05.01.2022 IMPORTANT! Please be aware, we are currently experiencing technical issues with our phone and internet. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are endeavouring to have this back online as soon as we can!

05.01.2022 A new public health advisory was issued this afternoon which means more changes for the way we provide a service to you. 1. All patients on site MUST wear a mask. You will now see reception and admin staff in masks. There is a general shortage of all PPE so you will need to source your own mask. We would like to supply these to you but unfortunately there are not enough supplies to do this. 2. There is a limit of one parent accompanying a child patient. ... 3. Everyone will commence their consultation in the carpark before being admitted to the surgery. These measures are to protect everyone and help us stay open to look after you.

04.01.2022 Friendly reminder that on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve we close at 4pm. Now is the time to make last minute appointments and refill prescriptions to get you through the public holiday closing period.

02.01.2022 Our telephone lines are working again but the internet remains unavailable. If you have sent an email, there may be a delay in responding so please telephone reception. Be assured that we are doing everything we can to be fully operational for you. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

01.01.2022 URGENT To all our patients, friends and family, A large super clinic style facility is proposed for the old bowling alley site. The site is zoned residential, so a super clinic is not an appropriate use under these guidelines. When the KWMC building was constructed, it needed to include residential apartments above before it was permitted to proceed. The new health development is potentially open from 7am to 9pm (and possibly 24 hours) and will disrupt nearby residents wit...h the sound of car doors and people talking. Access to the site will be via Nieppe Street only. Can you imagine up to an additional 1000 cars a day entering this small residential street? This will create traffic chaos in an already busy residential street. Here is the link to read more about this development and lodge your opposition: https://pdonline.brisbane.qld.gov.au//Applic/default.aspx The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 8 September 2020. Our heartfelt thanks and support to you as we do our best to retain the neighbourhood appeal for everyone.

01.01.2022 A massive thank you to all our wonderful GPs!

01.01.2022 **We have some rare same-day availability for today. Call us on 3359 2160 to book!** What is Ear Microsuction? This is a procedure where your doctor uses a microscope to look deep within your ear canal. Using a very fine sterile suction device, any wax and debris can be gently removed from your ear. Most people experience no complications from ear microsuction. It is different to the tradition ‘ear syringing’ in a couple of ways; the ear canal is seen through the microscope a...nd there is no water used to ‘flush’ the ears. Unblock your ears quickly, safely and gently with our ear wax microsuction technique performed by a General Practitioner at Kedron Wavell Medical Centre. Appointments available Monday through to Saturday. Call us on 07 3359 2160 to book!
