20.01.2022 Theres a fabulous podcast with Oprah Winfrey interviewing the author, Paulo Coelho. His modern classic, The Alchemist, is constructed around the importance of following your "personal legend," and Oprah asks how he defines that term: "Your personal legend is the reason you are here," he answers. "Its as simple as that. You are here to honor something called the miracle of life. You can fill your days with something that is meaningless, but you know you have a reason for being here. It is the only thing that gives you enthusiasm. And you know when you are betraying your personal legend when you are doing something without enthusiasm."

19.01.2022 We work in the gym to get our bodys in shape, its time to work on our ability to respond and speak to our emotions. Emotional fitness is a muscle that needs practice and attention. Feel better, be better... MensTeam.

18.01.2022 "It is difficult to find happiness within oneself, but it is impossible to find it anywhere else." Arthur Schopenhauer When a celebrated person commits suicide, its always a bit shocking because deep down we may still hold the misguided belief that possessing fame, riches, and access would make us happier. On a more subtle level - 1) it can give us pause to reflect on our own lives and ask the question- what makes us happy? And hopefully we realise its not based in acqu...iring more shit we dont need and looking for outside validation. 2) That we come to conclusions that true happiness lies in feeling our own self-worth and gratitude for what we already have. Not easy to do all the time, but something to come back to in moments of anger, despair and unmet expectations.

15.01.2022 #repost I am replaying a moment, not long after I walked back into my home after experiencing Homelessness for 10days. Id hugged my wife and kids and purposefully turned to look at the back side of our front door. For nine nights and ten days, my mind drifted through varied states of melancholy, deep sadness, gratitude, joy and confusion -to put labels of just a few. I also had moments where I longed for a door, my door...A barricade between me and the world. A place where I... could let my guard down, where I could relax my body and mind. To have some respite from the noise, the projections I felt from strangers and the hardness of our urban environment... concrete, bitumen, alloy and steel are still unforgiving and cold, even if you layer it with cardboard and a blanket. For millions around the world, this is their normal, in Australia were into the hundreds of thousands now... and that number grows everyday. However, I truly feel that doesnt have to be the case. I heard someone ask, how do you eat a blue whale? The answer, one bite at a time. Homelessness can be decimated if we do our bit... and theres a multitude of ways to assist... helping to ease the life of current homeless folk with donations of food, clothes and shelter. Theres prevention of future homelessness by assisting parents and families to raise happy and healthy kids among others. For me, I actively participate in the former, even if its taking the time to talk with someone living on the street- that simple act can be a step to someone feeling value in themselves that kickstarts their action into a better life. The fact is, Ive never experienced feeling so invisible, and when someone did take the time to "see me, the feeling was elevating. I also launched #mensteam to assist men and stimulate heartfelt discussion between men... this leading to happier men who in turn feel valued and ready to pay that feeling forward to their partners, their kids, their families and yup, even strangers in the street. I am hopeful in some way, that MensTeam can assist in the prevention of homelessness. The documentary airs on @sbs_australia August14, 15 and 16. I hope that you can see it.
