23.01.2022 Hi all, We are reaching out via as many pathways as possible. I have posted to the client page and will send a direct email to our clients tomorrow. We recognise that with the change in potential community transmission of COVID in the Brisbane area many mums-to-be are anxious about their birthing plans. We have seen some updates from hospitals in Brisbane about visitor restrictions and wearing of masks in hospital and we recognise some of you may be stressed by this. Our... clients are very welcome to make contact with their midwife to talk this through. Those of you who are not clients, please feel free to message via messanger or to contact our clinic if you want more information or we can support you in any way. At this stage we have not altered our face to face services, or birth care in any way but are of course following public health directives. Thanks Liz See more

This week on our Facebook Live at 12pm on Wednesday 16th December, My Midwives’ Liz Wilkes walks us through a plan for travelling with newborns through to toddlers.

09.01.2022 What is Birthing on Country? An indigenous mother giving birth to her baby on the country of ancestors. When an indigenous woman g...ives birth off country, as often happens with rural and remote birthing women having to travel far to a bigger city or town to birth, the belief is that it breaks the baby’s spiritual connection to the land and in the community, raising emotional, social and spiritual issues for the mother, child and community at large. Birthing on Country provides holistic and culturally appropriate care and is not only concerned with physical outcomes of labour and birth. It deals with socio-cultural and spiritual risk that is not dealt with in the current medical model. All peoples have a right to physical, emotional, mental, cultural and spiritual safe care through pregnancy, birth and beyond. Always Was. Always will be.
