24.01.2022 @mymidwives After great feedback I have decided to put our basic Sept birth info up as well! I wont be doing any more though until next month! Total births 36 3 caesarean birth without labour. 2 caesareans during labour. 1 forcep birth and 1 vacuum birth.... 26 vaginal births. 33 women had their primary midwife and the back up midwife with them if needed as well. 2 women had significant input from the hospital midwives as well as their primary midwife. One woman has her back up midwife with her primary midwife just being their for the birth due to a double up!! Its September after all. #busiestmonth #mymidwivesfamily #birth #midwiferycare See more

24.01.2022 @rheadempsey_birthingwisdom May 5th - International Day of the Midwife . Honouring, Celebrating, Respecting all Midwives today - and adding the touch of yellow to symbolise hope, fresh starts, inspiration and happiness. . Offering some words of love for midwives from the archetypes of birth section in my new book:... The Midwife archetype represents a particular facilitating capacity which supports another through the painful work of bringing forward new life, whether this new life is a baby, or anothers creative expression, or inner growth. This midwife archetype can be evoked both inside and outside of a birthing context. . To midwife. When we use the term as a verb in this way then I feel we are close to the core of the Midwife archetype. To midwife is to guide another through challenging, painful experiences; to see the seeds of potential in another and to enable them to birth this potential into reality. In the birth context, the archetypal form of the midwife surfaces as a yearning for that experienced woman who has the special, secret, sacred knowledge and practical skill to watch over the safety of our babies and ourselves, and to be sensitively available to guide us through the demands of labour and birth. The midwife is a symbolic container, a wise woman, able to stand strong in the midst of our fear and assist us to find our courage; able to hold us as we undertake both the physical challenge of birthing and the transformative journey of initiation into motherhood. . . #IDM2020 #YearofTheNurseAndMidwife

13.01.2022 @mymidwives I have seen a few shares of MGP birth stats recently and thought it is a good way to keep our team accountable. Each month I may do the basics OR may focus on an area of interest for some of you all...... so here goes! Across the three practices we had: 25 births 20 started spontaneously 4 births were induced ... 1 was a caesarean without labour for a transverse lie There were 2 caesareans in labour ( both with a general anaesthetic) There were two vacuum extractions both for fetal distress No forceps And 20 vaginal births including 2 breech births! 24 women were attended by their primary midwife (some needed their back up midwife too) 1 woman had her back up midwife only 15 women were having their first baby Well done mamas and midwives!! #mymidwivesfamily #midwifelife #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #birthoutcomes See more
