25.01.2022 There are lots of views around scans in pregnancy - are they safe? Why have them? When are the best times to have a scan and are they accurate? This week Liz Wilkes Managing Director from My Midwives will breakdown the issues and what your care provider is looking for in this informative topic.

25.01.2022 TWIDDLING This baby has picked up this habit at only 6 months old. Its very difficult to find any literature about the physiological reason for twiddling. A... google search will find you endless threads and blog posts from desperate mothers trying to get their nurslings to quit twiddling. It has been said that twiddling while nursing is a natural mammalian response to encourage a second or even third letdown by the infant while nursing (much like a kitten who kneads her mother or a calf that head-butts the udder of his mom to bring in more milk.) Alternately, the truth about twiddling is that its something that keeps a babys opposite hand and constantly-moving mind busy while their body is required to be still a focus point to allow your nursling to nurse longer, and calmer. If you are one of many mamas who discourage twiddling, what are some things you did to distract your baby from doing it while nursing?

22.01.2022 Toowoomba Mums!!!

22.01.2022 I reckon for all the years I was raising children with my husband it was easier for me to not take responsibility for myself.... I could always resent him for p...rioritising his needs (instead of take a good hard look at how I wasn’t taking responsibility for prioritising my own). I could count on him to take the kids out for adventures on the weekend so I could do the work I didn’t get to during the week (instead of recognising I was trying to do way too much amongst raising small kids or refusing to get more help with them during the week so I could work then and we could spend time together on weekends). I could rope him into the stressful ‘tidy before the cleaners’ each week (instead of being responsible for my own untidy habits). When I was stressed out or tired because I had put too many things on my plate I could direct emotions his way knowing he would understand that I was tired and ‘not myself’. Now, as a solo-parent I realise the lack of responsibility I took for my energy, my happiness, my mental load while I was parenting with my husband. These guys thrive when I’m thriving and although I always ‘knew’ this, I didn’t fully start embodying it until I got shingles at the end of 2017 and it’s all been brought home to me flying solo. I wish I didn’t need these wake up calls - which is why I’m sharing it with you! Take agency over your life and reclaim your power. Where in your life are you not being fully responsible for your own needs? Your own patterns of self-sacrifice? Your habit of saying yes to everything when really you are already over scheduled? It’s not on anyone else to make things better for you - there’s so much you can do for yourself. Claim what you need

16.01.2022 We had a visit from this beautiful little fellow the other day. Just sat on our verandah for a good period of time and I thought he was trying to say something to us. So see below what the meaning of a visit from the beautiful Tawny Frogmouth means:- Spiritual Meaning Reminder of protection from spirit during dark times. Positive outcomes and end of limiting views.... Camouflage and blending with surroundings. Becoming part of nature and a strong relationship with the spirit world. Oneness. Blessings from spirit. Adaptation to different environments. Down to earth energies. Be a silent observer and don't let your presence be too exposed. (observe more speak less). The frogmouth remind us that we are never alone, especially during times when we feel lonely, he tells us that we are part of everything that surrounds us, including the wilderness. This totem also reminds of loyalty and monogamy. Spirit is watching... See more

01.01.2022 You know how we all love the meaning of signs. Apparently if you notice 11:11, it means that you have been kissed by an angel. So we thought we would celebrate our very special 1111 birth. Welcome little Emma and her mum Danielle who must have been kissed by two angels.
