25.01.2022 We all know how great it can be to be surrounded by people with whom we have positive, healthy relationships. How good do we feel when we know we can turn to a whole range of people for their support in adverse situations but also to help celebrate the wonderful things life brings. Research has demonstrated that positive interpersonal relationships can assist in thriving within life through two ways: The first, by enabling the individual to pursue opportunities that en...hance well-being, build resources, and increase a sense of meaning in life. A good example may be that of parents actively encouraging their child to accept an opportunity, be it job, education or otherwise, which truly pushes the boundaries. The second is the provision of positive support within interpersonal relationships serving as a buffer to the negative effects of stress. This is primarily the case when support is provided in a way which is suited to the individuals situation and needs. You might find the above infographic helpful in getting back to the basic needs of cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with others. What are some other tips you find helpful in your own relationships? Leave a comment below. See more

23.01.2022 What a great message! If feel as though you, or someone you know, may benefit from some additional support, please feel free to get in touch with one of our welcoming psychologists at MYND Psychological Consulting. You can call us on (03) 9810 3140, email us at [email protected] o...r visit our website www.myndpsychology.com.au . . Repost @janellesilver Its your heart, its your garden, its your life, its all you and yours. Its up to us to care for and nurture our inner gardens, to weed out what no longer lifts us up or brings us joy. Its up to us to weed out what no longer serves our highest selves and make room for what does. Its up to us to plant and nurture the things we wish to grow! Its up to us to consciously check in with ourselves to see how were really going and what we need BUT just because its all up to us doesnt mean we have to do it alone.. it just means its up to us to ask for and/or accept help!! Every garden is valid and of value, Ive had a tonne of weeds in mine for most my life and it hasnt made me any less worthy (although Ive only recently realised that) it still offered opportunities for growth, love and learning! So dont beat yourself up, weeds will always grow and theyre not bad theyre teachers like everything else in life. Now Im aware of my responsibility and control over my inner garden/life and how I experience both Ive become more empowered and am making little changes and taking little steps everyday (or most days.. Im human after all) to grow the inner garden and life I want, one that makes me feel joyous, supported, safe, fulfilled, grateful, hopeful etc and I created this post as a reminder you get to do that too, if you want! 22.01.2022 Ever since Marie Kondos series aired on Netflix we have been busy finding the things that spark joy and donating those impulse-purchased-worn-once pair of shoes. While using the KonMari method in your physical environment can help your space feel more relaxing and even more perfect for taking mindful moments, this method of decluttering has some similarities to the wonderful practice of meditation. The article linked below will tell you more: https://www.10percenthappier.com//meditation-is-the-marie-

20.01.2022 As we near the last six months of 2019 (where has the year gone?!), this is a great time to look within and self-reflect. Self-reflection can provide an opportunity to celebrate whats been working for you and be honest about any changes youd like to make. You might ask yourself questions like: Am I taking the time for self-care? Are my actions/habits/routines aligned with my intentions?... Whats something I definitely want to create, achieve or experience before the end of this year? See more

15.01.2022 The story: A) You can be inside the story, in which case it controls what you do; and you live out your life seeing the world the way that the story says it is. B) You can look at the story; notice what the story says, and consider how that story is serving you; consider the effects of letting it rule your life; see how its working; and you can also get to see how the world looks when youre outside the story. In this approach, were not debating whether the story is true or false. The story is simply your mind doing its job: trying to make sense of what is happening in your life. We just want to take a look at the story, and see how its working for you and see if its helpful in creating the life you want! Photo credit @obtuse_engel

15.01.2022 Brené Brown (@brenebrown) makes some profound statements about vulnerability. True belonging is the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness True belonging doesnt require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are. 02.01.2022 We all face struggles, big and small, internal and external. Our sense of self influences the meaning we give to life events. Our sense of self can encourage and advocate for us, or it can insult, critique and undermine us. The latter is often referred to as the inner critic. Scroll across for some activities you might use to overcome this inner critic and help you embrace a kind and accepting attitude toward yourself, irrespective of imperfections. This post has been adapted from Kristin Neffs website www.self-compassion.org @ Hawthorn-Melbourne

01.01.2022 While social media can help us feel connected to others, there is a large amount of evidence which shows that social media use is linked with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. If you are wanting to limit the amount of time you spend on social media, keep reading for some tips. Limit when and where you use social media. Holding a phone in front of your face can impact your ability to have in-person interactions. Limiting notifications, committing to not checking your ph...one during mealtimes or when spending time with your family, may all help to connect with others not only in real-time, but in real life. Have detox periods. Scheduling dedicated time away from social media may give you more time to enjoy other parts of your life. Some ideas might be using social media only on weekdays or weekends, or even limiting the time you spend on social media each day. Apple have Screen Time and Google have Digital Wellbeing controls that provide reminders when youre close to exceeding a set amount of time spent on certain apps. Approach social media mindfully. Ask yourself why youre using social media at certain times of the day. Are you reaching for your phone to read important news or is this a mindless habit that youve developed? Each time you open social media, check-in with yourself and ask why am I doing this right now?, and decide whether these habits are in line with your values. Prune. Over time, youve likely accumulated a large network of online friends and profiles you follow. While you might still find some content interesting, consider whether any of the content you see is boring, annoying or irrelevant. You might choose to unfollow or mute certain profiles to give your social media feeds more purpose. We would love to know whether youve tried any of the above tips and what the results were comment below!

01.01.2022 Emotions arent good or bad they just are. Emotions are universal and everyone experiences them.
