21.01.2022 Here's another tip from over at the Seven days of Christmas group! ENJOY CHRISTMAS FOOD Merry Christmas Eve!!!... Today’s the day we put all our tips into action. Now you’ve had a little practice through the week, you’ll be a pro at putting it all together. Be sure to taste every mouthful because the foods we get at Christmas are extra special turkey, cranberry sauce, plum pudding, brandy custard, fresh leg ham, chocolate rum balls, and of course fruit mince pies. Yummmmm! Put your knife and fork, or the food, down between each bite and appreciate all the smells, flavours and gorgeousness of Christmas food! Be present during family meals, appreciate those around you, laugh, talk and be merry! Plus, you know there’s always leftovers which also means no cooking on Boxing Day and you can enjoy all the yumminess all over again #winning!! Let’s recap: 1. Eat slowly 2. Drink in moderation 3. Plan ahead for energy and snacks 4. Get some sleep! 5. Eat before you go to an event 6. Quality over quantity Now you know it is absolutely possible to have your pudding and eat it too without over doing it, kick up your heels and enjoy the food you are eating and the people you are sharing it with. Food is joy, celebration, tradition, family, culture and love! This year, take your time eating, revel in the delicious food and take a moment to enjoy your Christmas meal experience. Keep this in mind: What you do between Christmas and New Year is not as important as what you do between New Year and Christmas! ACTION Put together all the skills, tips and ideas you have learnt this week and have a brilliant Christmas! Share with us all your Christmas snaps! I’d love to see the fun you are all up to and what Christmas looks like for you.

10.01.2022 Hands up if 2021 already has you a little overwhelmed and self-care is just another thing you *hope* you'll get around to Our lives are busy and some days it can feel impossible to get through our should, must, have to do list, let alone take some time for self-care. The truth is that’s exactly what we need for mental, emotional and physical well-being. So how do we find the time when we feel time is already in short supply? Start with 10 minutes....Continue reading

02.01.2022 Here's one of my favourite tips I have shared over at the Seven Days of Christmas Group. We have been learning and implementing some new tips and remembering a few tried and true! Plan ahead How do the Christmas kg’s creep up? By consuming more energy than you burn, simple. So if you are wanting to keep your energy intake balanced, it’s a good idea to make a plan. Knowing what Christmas parties, family events and other celebratory events you have ahead of time will help you... decide what to eat and when. For example, on Dec 22nd, 23rd and 27th, I will have some lighter meals. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies and quality protein. I don’t want to miss out on anything, or feel guilty and not enjoy Christmas deliciousness, so I’ll make space for those foods imma want to eat at Christmas! Work it into the plan. Think of your week collectively as an average. 12.01am doesn’t flick a magic switch in your body that resets your energy allowance for the day after the stroke of midnight! So I suggest counterbalancing high energy intake days like Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with a few lower calorie days either side. If you have been invited out, consider taking along plate of something so you have a go to. Maybe a side salad or fruit salad that you can add to your plate. Put some thought into a meal plan for the week and then follow it. It will also be useful in all the craziness that is the few days before Christmas, to have meals prepped and ready to go so it’s one less thing to think about. Here’s my tips: * Have salad ingredients and quality proteins ready to grab and go. * Grab a roast chicken, boil some eggs, buy some cooked prawns. All excellent, delicious and quick ways to make those lighter meals. * Pack a snack (nuts, protein bar, apple) to keep you fuelled during long shopping trips. Don’t fall into the fast food trap at the foodcourt! ACTION Make a meal plan for the next few days. A rough guide is fine, just make sure you have the components prepped and ready to go. Ask your hosts if you can bring a plate either for appetisers or for a meal. This ensures you have a healthy option available. Do you need any ideas for some lighter meals that are delicious and satisfying? Post your meal plan in the comments to give us all some inspiration!
