14.01.2022 T h o r a c i c mobility These three exercises for thoracic mobility are my absolutely favourite. They are gentle, effective and feel great! I’d say they are entry level movements to help improve mid-back mobility and also help to increase overhead reach. If you are feeling tight in your upper back and/or feel limited in your shoulder movements give them a go! ... Increasing your functional range of motion and improving posture takes time and practice. Set yourself a goal of doing a little bit each week and see if you notice the difference! (Video in next post) It feels a little strange to isolate at first because often we don’t think about what’s going on back there -like when we get something from a cupboard or push ourself up from the floor-... Injuries that occur at the shoulder (and further down the arm) can often be traced back to poor function or a lack of strength in the muscles surrounding the scapula. This can include aches, pains and injuries of rotator cuff, front of shoulder structures and neck. A little bit of scapula love can go a looong way for injury prevention, general posture improvements and feeling confident the body.
