24.01.2022 I am very excited to inform our community that one of Queensland's largest solar farms could be based right here in the Gold Coast's Division 1! While creating... many jobs and boosting the local economy in its time of need, undoubtedly what's most exciting is this solar farm - proposed to be built on Gilberton farmland, west of Jacobs Well - is expected to have have a massive energy generating capacity of more than 33 megawatts. That means an annual CO2 saving equivalent of the power consumed by more than 10,000 homes or almost 27,000 passenger vehicles being taken off the road every year! While this project was given an early tick of approval by Councillors at Planning committee this week, the solar farm still needs to be officially voted on by full Council. I will continue to keep the community updated with any further developments. In the meantime, I was interviewed by the Gold Coast Bulletin this week about the solar farm, so check out this story down here or head over to www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au to read the full article.

16.01.2022 UPPER ORMEAU & TILLYROEN ROAD INTERSECTION BEGINS TONIGHT After some wet weather delays, I'm pleased to inform Division 1 residents we are now seeing so...me real action on the City of Gold Coast's Tillyroen and Upper Ormeau Road intersection upgrade! Please note, from tonight (19th April), night works will take place between 7pm and 5am until 24th April. Contractors will be working through the night to complete works safely and reduce impact on road users. Access will be maintained, however there may be minor delays and disruptions. Please plan ahead to avoid delays or consider an alternative route if travelling through the work zone. Contractors will be working to ensure disruptions are minimised and, where possible, noisy works will be scheduled early in the work period. Once this intersection upgrade is completed, new traffic signals, turning lanes, paths and bikeways will vastly improve safety and access for all road users, while providing wider turning lanes for heavy vehicles and off-road provisions for cyclists and pedestrians. For more information on this important traffic infrastructure project for Division 1 clink this link https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/kingsholme-tillyroen-road-

13.01.2022 *Update* Thank you to all the very generous people who have gifted these bags already for the Care Bag Project by Sweet Dreams and Good Night Wishes.... Its so exciting to see my lounge-room slowly being taken over until delivery date on July 18th. Some of these bags are destined to travel as far north as Cairns and as west as Mount Isa where they are also needed so I am really pushing to get at least 50 bags in total! Some people have contacted me and wanted to donate cash as they unable to find the time to go out and buy the essentials for the care bag. I am more than happy to do the buying on your behalf and provide you with the receipts and photographs of all the items purchased. An average care bag with BASIC essential items (budgeted between Kmart and Big W) would start around $50-$60 depending on availability. I have put together 4 bags already, on behalf of other people. Please comment below or send me a pm if you would like me to do this for you. My girls and I get a lot of satisfaction shopping for other kids and its a good lesson for my girls to learn to budget when spending someone elses money! Alternatively, if you are not in a position to gift an entire care bag (it can be a lot to ask especially in these times) you can always donate some essential items (must be brand new in packaging or with tags attached) to go towards making up care bags. You may have items of clothing (with tags still attached) that your child grew out of before they even got to wear it, have overstocked on toothbrushes (must be still in packaging) or have unopened packets of colouring books and pencils etc, then wed love them! Sometimes we receive items not in the packaging (ie: toothbrush, underwear, socks) and for hygiene reasons, we are unable to use these and need to replace them. So extra essentials are always needed and will be used. These items or care bags can be dropped into the boxes in reception at either LJ Hooker Ormeau or St Joseph's College Coomera, or can be given to me up until 17th July. I will be personally delivering all of these to the Sweet Dreams and Good Night Wishes HQ in Mango Hill on the weekend of July 18th/19th so if any need picking up on my way through, please let me know. Any help is good help!!! Thank You! ESSENTIAL ITEMS Backpack or travel bag One set of pyjamas One set of new clothes Underwear Socks Hairbrush/Hair ties Toothbrush COMFORT ITEM (one or more) Cuddly toy Reading book Colouring books/pens OPTIONAL ITEMS (non essential) Hat Drink bottle Blanket Any other item you think a child might like PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING Food Razor blades Aerosol cans Anything which may leak i.e. shampoo, body wash, bubbles, nail polish etc. Although you may have some pre-loved items in great condition, please do not include these. All items MUST be brand new preferably with tags (but not prices) attached.

11.01.2022 Have you seen the mural lately? This part of the mural shows Private David Wilkie. Dave was born in Cedar Creek and was working on farms in this area when he e...nlisted on 26th January 1916 along with his friends Fred and John Peachey (John is pictured beside Dave on this mural). At the end of 1916 he was sent to the Western Front, but he developed an ear infection after only a month. Without the modern antibiotics of today, the ear infection eventually required an operation and he took over seven months to recover before he could re-join the 31st Battalion in France in August 1917. He was killed in action less than two months later at Polygon Wood, in the Ypres sector of Belgium, on the 26th September 1917. Although Dave has no known grave, his war records suggest that he is buried in the vicinity of Polygon Wood. Daves name is inscribed on the Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium. It was well known in the local community that Dave was sweethearts with local woman Charlotte Miles. Charlotte never married. Keep watching as the other local men who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War 1 are honoured with their murals along the Northern end of Creek Street at Ormeau. See more
