25.01.2022 ‘There is only one way to survive and thrive when faced with circumstances out of our control and for which we are unprepared: adapt.’ Charles F Glassman. As we are all experiencing a massive shift in how we live our lives, our ability to *adapt* to the new normal can affect our experience. Rather than expecting yourself to continue with routine and productivity levels perhaps try and surrender to the grief we are all feeling of our previous existence. Practice kindness and ...accept yourself as you are through ups and down of this new way of living. I have shifted my yoga practice to my lounge room and although I miss my studio, my teachers, people practicing alongside me and the shared energy of the room, I am making do. Although I may get distracted and make a cup of tea half way through and check my phone, text a friend, continue for a bit then give up, I choose to be kind to myself and acknowledge the imperfections of being human. Rather than placing unrealistic expectations on yourself to be productive, please be kind and allow yourself time to adjust to our new normal See more

24.01.2022 Dear my wonderful community, I know these are very unprecedented and scary times and I'm sure all of you have been directly affected in one way or another by the current Covid 19 pandemic. I would like to extend the offer of keeping in touch even if we cannot see each other for a little while.... As many of you know I have made the decision to cease work although there has been mixed messages from government and association, I believe it is the ethical thing to do considering the current rate of transmission, often who are asymptomatic. For those of you with cancelled appointments this week I sincerely apologise as your health and well being is very important to me, however the benefits of treatment were beginning to be outweighed by the possibility of transmission. I hope we can all soon return back to normal but for the time being I wanted to let you know I am opening up a Facebook, Instagram & Linkedin page to keep in touch and share some tips and tricks as an alternative to face to face consults. If you have an acute problem I will be available on Telehealth and you can book online (see booking details below) for a 20 minute consult specific to you to run through options for self treatment/exercises and stretches. Otherwise social media will be a great way to check in with you and see how you're tracking and if there is anything I might be able to help you with please feel free to get in touch even if it is just a chat. Sending virtual hugs and please look after yourselves and each other during this difficult time, Claire, Myotherapist

24.01.2022 Ergonomic/Vertical Mouse Pronation (palm facing down) is a position where the two bones in the forearm are twisted which compresses tendons and can cause carpal tunnel and other neural symptoms when spending long hours at the desk. Having the arm in a thumb up (neutral) position means the bones are straight so the tendons can glide through smoothly without compression.... Vertical mouses (yes that’s the plural for this kind of mouse!) offer a neutral and more ergonomic position and are for sale in clinic

19.01.2022 Hey team! I hope you are keeping well during what has been a very difficult week for everyone. Please know you are never alone and below are a list of support services available to you. The last few days have been very confusing for Myotherapists and many other health practitioners in navigating the new restrictions and how they affect our services. It is our understanding that for the time being face to face appointments must be put on hold unless approved as an endorsed car...e plan for NDIS, TAC, Workcover or DVA. The information has been updated daily, sometimes multiple times a day and seems to be ever evolving but for now as it stands I will need to reschedule upcoming appointments. If you have an upcoming appointment, reception will be in touch with you prior to reschedule. I will be available to help with your aches and pains as much as I can by giving advice, stretches and exercises if you need them. Please get in touch [email protected] I am also happy to refer to other Allied Health practitioners who are able to keep working and give them a run down of your condition prior to seeing them. Finally, I want to say how grateful I am for anyone that has seen me in my new business in the last 2 months, I have been overwhelmed with support and genuinely feel such a strong sense of community Anita Hammond 9585 0616 Offering counselling face to face consults & Telehealth www.comohealthgroup.com.au Dr Meera Aurora 9502 0650 Offering Psychology Telehealth consults with Medicare rebates @loveyourmindpsychology Lifeline Australia 13 11 14 A crisis support service offering short term support at any time for people who are having difficulty coping or staying safe. www.lifeline.org.au Beyond Blue 1800 512 348 Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing Support Service. https://coronavirus.beyondblue.org.au/

12.01.2022 Appreciation post! To my exquisitely talented best friends @saradeane for creating art for my new business and @minkamakes for transforming it into branding and making an ultra fresh website... and to my smart and savvy brother @upwebdave for doing my SEO to get my name out there. It’s taken a villiage but this new chapter has been built with love and passion for what I do - helping people in pain. It’s a strange and confronting time and we may feel like things are on pause but there is always room to grow, lessons to learn and things to be grateful for www.myospace.com.au

11.01.2022 Hey guys! Just a little update: Once again there was much confusion around Sundays announcement, which initially sounded like very good news for our profession however unfortunately we have been left out again Appointments this week have been rescheduled and for now we are keeping appointments for next week and we will be in touch to reschedule after hearing Dan this Sunday if need be. We expect to be back Nov 2nd and online booking is available from that date Thanks a...gain for your patience, as many of you know I am so excited to come back and see you all! Our association have been amazing and are doing all they can. It was great to see an article in The Age this morning bringing more awareness to the work we do. Claire See more

09.01.2022 Hello beautiful community! Once again, there is much confusion around the latest Covid update and so it’s been hard to provide up to date information when it’s always changing. As it stands, I will be unable to open up face to face appointments until 26th October when restrictions on clinical practice ease - unless there is a change by the Government. Our Myotherapy association are working hard to advocate for our profession; please let me know if you would like to help our ...case by writing a testimony on how Myotherapy treatments have helped your physical/mental health and wellbeing to help us open up sooner. I know a lot of you have reached out to me needing hands on care and in frustration with the current rules and trust me, there is nothing more I would rather be doing now than helping you all but for now we might just have to wait a little longer. I have had people reach out with GP referrals and as harsh as it seems, I am unable to treat with a Dr’s referral unless Myotherapy is included on an endorsed care plan by NDIS, TAC, Workcover or DVA. The clinic will be in touch if you have an upcoming appointment that will need to be cancelled for now. Can’t wait to see you all! As always, get in touch if I can help you with anything in the meantime. And finally, I took this photo of our beautiful bay after the latest announcement and it was a timely reminder that although we are all dealing with hard times in Victoria, there is always an oasis of calm if we look, whether it be in nature or a cup of tea on the couch. Find your calm, breathe, ground and find your peaceful place. Claire

05.01.2022 Hello my office workers! Strengthening and stretching for posture tips below:

03.01.2022 Hey team Just a little update from me! I will be continuing to practice with the high level of precautions to keep you safe. Your health is my priority.... What I am doing: taking temperatures prior to treating using hospital grade disinfectant to fully sanitize the room prior to your treatment I will allow ample cleaning time between patients masks will be available for patients How we can all keep safe: Please do not come to the clinic if you have a cough, sore throat, fever or shortness of breath or if anyone in your household has any of these symptoms, if you have been in contact with anyone who is waiting on Covid 19 results or has tested positive to Covid 19. Please use the sanitizer provided upon arrival and arrive right on time to avoid sitting in the waiting room. If you need help but are not comfortable coming in to the clinic, please get in touch and I will advise you on some at home exercises & stretches specific to you. Thank you all for your continuing support and understanding I will be here if you need me. I know there’s a lot of frustration and general low energy this week so please take time for some self care whatever that may mean to you Love & light, Claire

02.01.2022 Dry needling to the forearm is great for overuse injuries and can help keep neural symptoms such as tingling, numbness and lack of grip strength away

02.01.2022 Back in clinic and here for your aches and pains!

02.01.2022 Tingling, numbness or lack of grip strength? Nerves running through to your hands and fingers could be being impinged higher up the chain by tight muscles. Nerves don’t stretch the same as muscles do so it’s important to bring them to their longest point and floss in and out through the impinging muscle

01.01.2022 Are you suffering in pain? I know it’s hard not being able to come in for your regular treatments at the moment. I miss mine too!
