24.01.2022 I hope this is a good timing to announce that I will run ‘Pre-natal Pilates Class’ starting term one 2021. Spot is limited (3 spots left) and will run weekly every 9AM Saturday.... 21.01.2022 This quote is so true. Let me share with you a bit from me. My turning point, wasn’t when I was the no.1 gymnast in my birth country, but when I had my hip dislocated. The injury was so bad that I had to take pain killer every single day for 3 months while I was going to compete in the big competition. And also Kinesio-taping from my physiotherapist to help me continue my daily routine practice 10 hours a day, which due to that my skin irritated so bad, but I can’t quit just ...yet. I can’t walk for a week while I was overseas, 3 weeks before the competition! But I managed, I won! And right after that my recovery journey began. Since I quit the pain killer, I was in agony, the pain was up to the roof! My hip clicked (and still now but waaaayyy better) and thanks to Pilates and all other training that I took, I understand about bodies better. I wouldn’t be here without my injury and my determination to done rehabilitation. Thanks to my injury, I know Pilates that’s been part of my life for almost 13 years now. What’s your story? 12.01.2022 ‘Scoliosis’ Scoliosis is from Greek word Skol means twist and turns... There’s two curve pattern that named based on location and direction of convexity, C curve and S curve. Most people will have slight curves on the spine but will called Scoliosis if it’s greater than 10 degree. And mostly people won’t aware that they have one unless you feel pain. Pilates program helps with scoliosis if it’s under 40 degree, our goals is to support skeleton with core muscles and optimal function of the body. Develop tonic control and support of spine, pelvis and scapula if possible, correct curvature with development of muscular system. I highly recommend doing private session for scoliosis. 11.01.2022 This is my favourite rest position. Bit tricky because it’s looks like child pose on Yoga but we have different focus.... Usually, after we done back exercises, we’ll move the class to do Shell Stretch. The key points is: try to sit on your heels your head doesn’t have to touch the mat Make a C-Curve shape with your spine try to relax your shoulders. Now as you have the position right, try to do 3 deep Pilates breath. inhale thru your nose, try to focus on emphasise the expansion of you back (rib cage) deep exhale thru your purse lips, like you blow a balloon with a straw, long and deep exhale. I usually put my palm behind my clients lower back so I can feel the Multifidus muscle activated as you breath out, engaging the pelvic floor and Transversus Abdominus. That’s how I found out you breath correctly. This tactile cue, not many instructors knows and it took time to be sensitive to feel muscle activation. Yes, even when we stretch and have a little break, we still want you to work on some muscles. That’s just a Pilates way of stretching. 10.01.2022 The last day of 2020, my turning point year! January: I open Pilates Corner for the first time on Middleton Grange. I only think I’ll have 5 client maximum and 2 mat class per week. February: slowly but I started to have more clients and busier on my mat class.... March: I got more clients but Covid-19 hits and I have to shut the door following government regulation and lockdown for 12 weeks. April: I did online class via Zoom. IT things isn’t my favourite but once again I pushed to learn new thing. May & June: I did some course via Zoom with my teacher trainer from Indonesia @lilytouw and learnt more about LINKd program for pain release. Was magical for me as I suffered from SIJ since lockdown. July: back to face to face and I have more clients. Full time on Pilates Corner. Mat class is full and put another 2 on the schedule to follow the demand. August: got nominated for Liverpool Small Business award. Sep - Dec: I have about 8 private clients, 4 duets and 7 mat classes. And work around 20hrs a week. And received my dream machine the V2Max Plus from Merrithew. I’m impressed about how far Pilates Corner has become in a year. It’s way more than I expect it. I wouldn’t say it’s an easy journey, but it’s been fantastic year for me. It teaches me hard about we can’t predict anything, don’t plan too far a head, and be flexible on your option! 07.01.2022 Leaping to weekend mood on One point for jump-board as we can use it for push up jumping! Okay, but seriously, what athlete will be appreciate this kind a push up? Swimmer? Basket baller? Tennis player?... It’s look simple but it works on your core and stability, triceps and lats and gluts. And everything has to be dynamic and in just right amount of power. There is so many sports will appreciate this upper body challenge and yet fun (if your wrist agree). 07.01.2022 I stepped out of my comfort zone, and glad I did it. I had a big family, a maid to look after my kid, a driver to drove me to work, a house that always clean and I never touch kitchen as the food always served as I want. I had a great job, good money, and from sport field, people knows me as I was the number 1 in my team, represent my birth country.... But crazy enough I left all of it to support my husband dream to live in Australia. Glad I have my Stott Pilates Certificate which is International recognised certification that I can bring and continue working as pilates instructor here (fun fact, that’s how I learn my english and I truly appreciate if people tell me my typo) The struggle is real!! 04.01.2022 The Pilates Corner final fit-out (for now at least) is almost finished, with the newest addition of a Merrithew machine arriving hopefully this week. It's currently waiting for delivery from the Casula depot. With the new machine, I'm so happy to be able to introduce an exciting change to Pilates Corner. Starting from Term 3 (12 July 2021), I will be replacing my Mat Pilates Classes with a Semi-Private Group sessions.... What is a Semi-Private Group session? It is a session with a maximum of 4 people using pilates equipments where everyone will have their own program based on their assessment and personal goals. If you're already a current Mat Class client, you will be given priority to join the Semi-Private Group sessions. You won't be required to do an initial assessment prior to joining the Semi-Private Group sessions, but let me know if you would like one. For new clients, you will be required to do an initial assessment prior to joining the Semi-Private Group sessions. Don't worry if you miss out on joining the Semi-Private Group sessions, depending on the level of interest, I may open more sessions in the future. Message me to register your interest. Private and Duet sessions are also still available, and Pre-Natal class will run as usual with a round-robin set up. Please note: - Term 3 will start on Monday, 12 July 2021 and follows the NSW school calendar - 24 hrs cancellation policy applies, and you can have a maximum of 1 make-up class/term. - I will start taking deposits for Term 3 for my current clients between now and end of next week. 02.01.2022 Do you have any weakness? Let me share bit about me. Long a go, I was a gymnast. I can proudly say I’m the best of my team after 17 years of doing it. But there’s a story before my carrier kicks off.... My coach said to me that I was - too fat to be a gymnast - don’t have a talent - better quit because it’s such a waste of time - will never successful in future without gymnastics For a 14 years old me, it’s a lot to take in! Been doing gymnastic since 4 years old to be told such a heartless world from my head coach (at national team) it’s hit me it the guts! I cried, but I kick my self harder right after! I never see my self fat, I’m bit muscly compare of my teammates, so I practice harder and since I have more energy to stay focus on my training compare to teammates, I perform better. I’m not super flexible, so they said I don’t have talent! But I practice twice harder and focus on important things likbalance and power. Don’t give up on yourself! Your weakness is also your strength, your greatest strength with the correct mindset so be-careful of how you talk to your self. We all are human, and it’s normal to have a weakness. And how about now with Pilates? I see people who comes to me acknowledge their weakness and they want to be better. Maybe injury, maybe poor posture, maybe diastasis recti, and that’s a good start! Acknowledge your weakness, with the right mindset and understanding you’ll be stronger than you ever be! And that’s the strength. People can have their meanest thought about you, but don’t let you do that to yourself. Oh and my other weakness is clumsy! I still trying to overcome this, like what happened last Saturday. I posted a story in such a hurry, this time it’s not a typo (like I usually had), I forgot to mute my video and there’s a background of my hubby screaming his lung out to our kids to hurry them off for gymnastic session! He checked the next morning and you can tell he’s not very happy.
