21.01.2022 When sanding wood, everyone knows you sand with the grain. If you dont, youre going to make a right mess of things. Printing is no different to sanding. If you want the best result possible i.e. everything lining up, with a nice smooth finish and without any cracking or curling of the pages, then its imperative that the grain direction is right. 19.01.2022 Common business card mistake #1 SPELLING Spelling mistakes on business cards show a lack of attention to detail which can give a bad first impression for a business. A careful spell check will eliminate these errors. I always find it best to have someone else read over artwork. It is amazing what a second set of eyes will pick up.

19.01.2022 Common business card mistake #3 CONTACT DETAILS It may seem like an obvious point, but some people forget even the most obvious of contact details, such as an email address or telephone number. Referring back to our first point, getting these contact details wrong is even worse.

19.01.2022 Common business card mistake #2 FONT SIZE Your business card should be easy to read without going overboard with fonts that are too fancy, too large, or too small. Fonts are measured in Point Sizes and you will use a variety of sizes on your business card. Try to keep them between 6 & 14 point. Remember there are many ways to make a word stand out without increasing the point size.

17.01.2022 Tip #6 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. Naming your file Please try to include only alphanumeric characters and limit the total length to a maximum of 16 characters. Clear and concise naming will ensure a smooth print process. So to begin with make your file name descriptive, but keep it short and sweet. For example if Acme Company are sending us their business cards they would name the file ACME_BC (JohnW).pdf. Providing a separate file for each person with only the persons name in brackets being changed to reflect whose cards they are.

17.01.2022 Tip #3 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. Internal Bleed It is advisable that there is a minimum of 3mm of internal bleed on all files (5mm on all booklets) that means you need to keep all your important information away from this area.

15.01.2022 I recently had occasion to use My Print Solutions for my new batch of business cards. Terrys service & quick turnaround was excellent, and his price was very competitive. So when it came time to replenish my stocks of service brochures, I naturally went to My Print Solutions first. The brochures were not a straight forward proposition as there was some retrieving of the artwork from the previous printer, and then some editing of typos & re-arranging of text bodies which would have tested anyone. 15.01.2022 Terry Morrison from My Print Solutions, recently organized the printing of some posters for my business. This was a new experience for me, and I wasnt too sure of what I really wanted or expected. Terry very kindly gave me the benefit of his experience in matters where I had none, and I am delighted with the results. I was also very pleased with the communication and follow up provided by Terry, who helped me to stay on top of the job, ensured that the posters were produced in a very short time and delivered as expected. Having experienced Terrys experience and professionalism, I would have no hesitation in recommending Terry for both printing advice and results. 15.01.2022 My comments come from having worked all sides of the printing equation - as a print buyer I was responsible for sourcing vendors, purchasing and maintaining the stock levels of a variety of printed products. As the production manager for both offset and digital printing companies my role among other things was about getting the job done correctly and on time. 14.01.2022 Tip #9 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. Always outline or embed your fonts Outlining or embedding the fonts that you use in your files means we can print them even if we dont have those particular fonts installed on our computers and they will look exactly the way you want them to. Remember you must have a license to embed certain fonts, please dont send fonts on a disc with your print job it is not legal.

13.01.2022 Common Business Card Mistakes A professionally printed business card is one of the first tools of the trade that any business person will reach for when it comes to networking or making new contacts. With that in mind, it is extremely important that your business card presents you in the best possible light. You may be surprised by the four common mistakes people make when designing their business card Spelling, Font size, Contact details & providing information on what the company does.

06.01.2022 Tip #5 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. Page setup Each page in your document should be the exact size you want them to be when printed. If youre designing business cards and you want them to be 90mm x 55mm then make the pages in your document that size. If your job is single sided then you simply supply a one-page pdf. If your job has two pages i.e. a front and a back then supply a two-page pdf file, the first page of your pdf will be the fr...ont page and the second the back page. If you have a job with multiple kinds then you simply supply one pdf for each kind. See more

06.01.2022 Tip #10 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. Get the colours right If your job is CMYK please remember to remove unwanted spot colours or convert them to CMYK. You will also have more control over the final appearance of your print job if you convert all of your images from RGB to CMYK before importing them into your document. Whether you are printing CMYK, spot colours or a combination of both, check each item within the file to make sure the correct colour has been chosen.

02.01.2022 Tip #4 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. What type of file works best? We print from Hi-Res PDF files only. Use the Adobe setting Press Quality to create a high resolution pdf, add trims and bleed (as mentioned in tips 1 & 2) and be sure to imbed your fonts or convert them to outlines (refer tip #9).

02.01.2022 Tip #8 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. Ink coverage The maximum ink coverage possible in the CMYK printing process is 400% - however, if we were to print a file with this amount of ink coverage, the ink would never dry! That is why we recommend the maximum coverage is 300% for coated stocks and 260% for uncoated stocks. This means the colours that you use should contain less than a total of 300% (or 260%) when you add together cyan, magenta, ...yellow and black. Heres a trick: If you are looking for a deep, rich black, the combination for offset printing we recommend is 100% K and 40% C. Please note: this is for areas 30mm square or larger, excluding text. Speaking of text: unless super large black text should only be 100% black and not a CMYK combination. See more

01.01.2022 Tip #2 for setting up your artwork files ready for the printing process. External Bleed We require 3mm of external bleed on all files (5mm on all booklets). Your job is printed on a larger sheet than its finished size and then trimmed to size. External bleed is the area extending past your trim area and allows for a small amount of movement that may occur when your work is being cut to size.
