20.01.2022 Bit of a warmer day today, so the bees are out in force gathering what they can... #bees #savethebees #growsomeforthebees #productivegarden
19.01.2022 What a difference having my strawberries off the ground is making to my harvest. No more slater or slug attack. love having a structure to suspend my hanging baskets from. #organicstrawberries #learnhowtogrowfoodorganiclly #learngardening #howtogrowstrawberries
18.01.2022 First of the spring plantings of Broccoli coming to head- how lucky am I to be able to grow this wonderful vegetable all year long. #learngardening #learnhowtogrowfoodorganiclly #organicbroccoli #broccoli #howtogrowbroccoli
16.01.2022 I am making strawberry coulis out of this mornings harvest. I will pop it in the freezer ready to drizzle over the Christmas day pavlova. #strawberries #strawberrucoulis #learnhowtogrowfoodorganiclly #howtogrowstrawberries #organicstrawberries
16.01.2022 Home grown and dried Chamomille Tea is so much nicer and better for you than any of the commercially produced stuff. It's also super easy to do. Just cut off the flower heads, spread in a single layer on a flat baking tray and dry in the sun for 48 hours. Then package in an airtight container and you're ready to steep!... #chamomille #chamomilletea #chamomilleflower #chamomilleflower
16.01.2022 Get a load of this infestation of aphids on my late Broad Bean crop. Time to pull them out and feed them to the chickens.
13.01.2022 Successful morning out mushroom foraging. Please, don't go foraging for mushrooms if you don't know what you're doing. There are plenty of workshops and courses if you want to give it a go - but if you dont know what the mushroom is, don't eat it. Simple. #mushroom #wildmushrooms #mushroomforaging
12.01.2022 I have planted lots of red lettuce this year, red oakleaf, red coral and red Cos. Combine these with small red sorrel and beetroot leaves and some other green leaf and herbs and you have a truly delicious and nutritious and beautiful looking salad. #growyourownmixedlettuceleaves #learnhowtogrowfoodorganiclly #learngardening #horticulturalworkshops #organiclettuce
12.01.2022 Seed potatoes are going in! While we are lucky enough here in potato country to have wild ones cropping up in all sorts of places, I like to plant a few specific varieties, like Kipfler and Niccola, as they're my absolute favourites and I want to make sure I get enough of a crop. #potatoes #robertsonpotato #potatocountry #robertsonpotatoes #thebigpotato
12.01.2022 A few hot days and the blackberries are ripening quicker than I can pick them. #organicberries #Blackberries #homegrownfruit
11.01.2022 The chamomile is in flower - time to pick and dry so I have a supply all year. #howtogroworganicchamomile #chamomiletea #growyourownchamomiletea
10.01.2022 First of the new season beetroots, roasted and made into a beetroot and feta salad. Yum! #learnhowtogrowfoodorganiclly #beetrootsalad #growingbeetroot #howtogrowbeetroot
09.01.2022 I am picking plenty of blackberries at the moment. What we don’t eat fresh I freeze until I have enough to make jam. Blackberry jam is a bit of a favorite in this family. What jams are you making from your summer harvest? #blackberries #organicberries #homegrownfruit #blackberryjam
09.01.2022 I'm growing pumpkins again this year, and surprise surprise they have taken over and spread. The big leaves offer good shade for the lettuces and keep them from burning in the January sun, so I don't mind too much... #pumpkins #lettuce #january #summergarden #summer #growinginsummer
08.01.2022 Chook yards that have gotten a bit gross in heavy weather, like rains or wind or storms, can always use a good spread of mulch over the muck. This helps ensure that you're looking after the health of your flock, keeping their feet out of the wet or clay, and allows you to put much needed material back into the soil. #chookyard #chookpen #chickens #backyardchooks #backyardchickens
07.01.2022 With my chickens giving me plenty of eggs and the lemon tree laden with fruit, I thought a Lemon meringue Pie should be an the menu today.
06.01.2022 Watch your chooks at this time of year. As the temperature creeps up, they need a bit more care. Make sure they've got a dust bath to toss themselves in. Grow them a tray of wheatgerm or sprouts so they've always go something to snack on. Keep the water up to them and feed a mix of pellets and grain to keep them looking and feeling great. #chooks #chickens #backyardchickens #isabrown #backyardchooks #chookpen

05.01.2022 Bee's love chives almost as much as I do. These are a fantastic edible flower and an easy addition to plenty of dishes for a subtle oniony flavour. #chives #bees #nativebees #flowhive #savethebees #growsomeforthebees
