25.01.2022 BRUSHSTROKES + COLOUR: close up on the magic of painting still life. I will be teaching ‘Discovering Ideas for Painting’ @tresillianartscentre Join me in term 3 for an 8 week course, Tuesdays 9:30-12. See the link in my bio to enroll.

25.01.2022 HEAD IN THE CLOUDS: I might have my feet firmly on the ground and be painting away in my studio today but my head is in the clouds. (A tiny detail of a WIP). I saw the most beautiful skies, last spring when I was on my road trip and the idea for this painting was inspired by views I saw along the way.

25.01.2022 READY for a COFFEE? My lime green mug (swipe) found its new home. I met the lady who purchased this little painting @bayroadpantry6010 last weekend. She said it brings her joy every morning when she looks at it. How nice is that! So if you’re looking for something to bring you joy every morning my hot pink mug is still available @bayroadpantry6010 Claremont. Be quick though because my cafe exhibition with @stephanieboyleart is finishing soon. @ Bay Road Pantry

25.01.2022 SO LOVELY when good friends collect your work. Firstly you know that your artwork has found a good home and secondly you know where your work ‘lives’ so you can see it whenever you visit their home. My glass ‘Ocean Bowl’ positioned in the perfect spot to catch the light, placed together with one of Jan’s beautiful ballet paintings called ‘Rather Be Dancing’. Thank you to Jan & David.

25.01.2022 READING YOU A STORY - WIP - While waiting for paint to dry, I’m writing a fictional story - maybe it’s going to be a book - if it’s any good??? One of my characters visited an artist’s studio. Put your sound on.

24.01.2022 BACK TO FACE TO FACE TEACHING: today - although with masks on there wasn’t much of our faces to actually see. Loved what my students painted in class as they explored still life and complimentary colours. I always hope that they learn as much from me as I learn from them. Discovering Ideas for Painting @tresillianartscentre

24.01.2022 BACK to GLASS: it’s been a while since I’ve been creating with glass but with an exhibition coming up soon, it’s high time I put away the paint brushes to got back into it. Hand cutting circles today and thank goodness I haven’t lost my touch as some of my sheets of glass are now out of production (due to factory closing) and rare as hen’s teeth. No room for error - risky stuff- holding my breath! I especially love this colour and it’s my last sheet!

23.01.2022 WANT to COME + PAINT with ME? Just a few spaces left in my ‘Discover Ideas for Painting’ 8 week course. The students and I had so much fun when we ran this course last term. We experimented with ideas for still life, figurative and landscapes. Come and join us on Tuesdays 9:30-12 at Tresillian Art Centre Nedlands. See the link in at the top of the page which takes you to Tresillian website for more details and to enroll. @tresillianartscentre @ Tresillian Centre

22.01.2022 TEACHING FACE to FACE again @tresillianartscentre Lovely group of students keen to learn and experiment in my Discovering Ideas for Painting course. Colour mixing today with ‘limited palettes’. Always enjoy seeing what they will come up with. Photo 1 is my demo painting and photo 2 WIP by my students. @ Tresillian Centre

22.01.2022 OUT PLEIN AIR PAINTING in Chittering today with a beautiful view. Enjoyed working directly from the landscape and watching the light change throughout the day. @ Chittering, Western Australia, Australia

21.01.2022 SALT LAKE DREAMING: WIP a tiny detail.... with all the under layers down in vigorous and spontaneous brushstrokes. Two palettes (swipe) on the go for this one. View of Lake Kondinin inspired from my road trip last spring. Need to let it dry before I tackle it again tomorrow.

20.01.2022 I am exhibiting in a new contemporary glasswork opening at Stala Contemporary Gallery 12 Cleaver St West Perth on 28 Nov 2-4pm. Hope to see you there.

18.01.2022 ON THE TOOLS TODAY! Creating glass leaves and playing at Mother Nature was going super well until my red machine broke a blade - swipe next photo. BUT miraculously I had a replacement blade and I could hardly believe it! Parts for this machine are rare atm Perhaps you heard me hollering for joy all the way to your place?

18.01.2022 IF YOU’RE WONDERING WHERE I AM - I’m busy at the glass end of my work bench. WIP. Currently inspired by my recent visit to Wave Rock via several salt lakes - including this one Lake Kondinin. I love the subtle colours of these landscapes which I’m replicating with layers of opaque and transparent glass. Ready to go into the kiln tomorrow and here’s hoping the KILN GODS will be behaving themselves! Exhibition @stalacontemporary coming soon. Swipe

17.01.2022 GLASS PROJECT WIP: new work on my studio work bench today. I’m continuing to work with my recurring theme of leaf litter. I just love how our eucalyptus leaves curl and change colour on the ground - little spots of decay with nibbled edges. This piece is waiting for its first firing in my kiln.

17.01.2022 SEA BOWL this is the largest of my new series of landscape bowls. They’re intentionally asymmetrical with soft, loose edges. I just love the colours and seaweed like textures of these layers of transparent glass. See my new series at GLASS HALF FULL exhibition @stalacontemporary opening 28 Nov until 18 Dec.

16.01.2022 HEADING DOWN SOUTH - my painting is all packed up and on its way to Busselton. This week has been full of admin activities. Packing up work for galleries, organizing social media for up coming exhibitions, writing up art floor and price lists, sorting out images and fitting all of the above around my regular teaching gig.

16.01.2022 ONE of my PAINTINGS in it’s FOREVER HOME: Love to see where my artworks end up. I had a lovely message today showing my ‘Red Still Life’ so beautifully hung on this charcoal coloured wall and taking pride of place above the mantle piece. I love how dramatic it looks in this spot against the dark background. Thank you Linda for letting me share this image.

13.01.2022 HANGING @ HOME: I installed this hanging system at home by ArtiTeq. A brilliant way to store my paintings, which allows for easy client viewings and brings colour to my walls. It’s a favourite system among artists and galleries. I bought my system from @gallery.360 and set up several gallery walls like this one. Super easy to rearrange your paintings and install. @ Perth, Western Australia

13.01.2022 BECAUSE YOU WERE CURIOUS: this is the next step of my post from a few days ago. Back in the kiln again after some extreme risk taking and all I can say is that the kiln gods must be crazy and maybe so am I. Extraordinary amount of work goes into making these pieces and it can so easily ALL go to naught.

11.01.2022 FAVOURITE BIT from TODAY: tiny detail of this WIP currently on my easel. I set out on a different path with this painting and it’s been an interesting journey so far. I’ve learnt a lot from my approach to this piece. I’ll be back in the studio again tomorrow to have another go. Maybe our last day of iso?

11.01.2022 Glass Half Full: a new exhibition of contemporary glasswork coming soon to Stala Contemporary Gallery West Perth. Stay tuned for details. @stalacontemporary

11.01.2022 OCEAN DREAMING: looking forward to summer and ocean swimming. (Detail). Multiple layers of paint going down and how I love exploring varieties of paint application. I used every tube of blue I own and then mixed up some more shades of with a dash of some corals and greens. Having fun in the studio waiting for summer

09.01.2022 STUDIO PLAYTIME: having fun today with this WIP and layers of paint. This little detail was inspired by the spring flowers I saw on my morning walk @kingsparkandbotanicgarden looking forward to getting back to it again when it’s dry.

09.01.2022 ON MY EASEL: Can you see where I’m going with this WIP? (Detail) Swipe for the inspo photo. All the fresh colours of spring right there! Just another week to go and we can say goodbye to winter. How fast and slow can one year go??? @ Kings Park and Botanic Garden

08.01.2022 IN MY HAPPY PLACE: one of my students took this photo of me when I was teaching the class about Complementary Colours using one of my own paintings as an example. You can see they had learned something when you look at what’s going on in this photo. Back face to face teaching @tresillianartscentre

06.01.2022 PALETTE DU JOUR: Bright and joyous colours of spring. It seems everyone is painting the Everlastings flowers which are currently in bloom everywhere. Such sweet, showy and delicate paper thin petals usually seen in lots of different shades of pink (but also available in yellow). I’ve painted my in a simplified semi abstract style and this is one of my Wonder Out Yonder works on paper series.

06.01.2022 ASHBY’S BANKSIA: details from today’s painting on my easel and I think it’s now finished. I was aiming for a contemporary approach to this botanical theme. Loose brush strokes and a semi-interpretive colour palette - I learned a lot from this one. Inspired by my early morning walks @kingsparkandbotanicgarden @ Kings Park and Botanic Garden

04.01.2022 CUTTING GLASS CIRCLES: today’s WIP - Close up’s before these pieces go into the kiln for a first fire. I especially love the colour scheme in the first photo - a very different combination - if you’re thinking aerial view of the landscape - then you’re on the right track.

04.01.2022 SUNSET COCKTAILS BALI: Are you missing this place and dreaming of tropical holidays? It could be a while before you’ll be sipping cocktails on the beach at Seminyak. In the meantime enjoy my painting-a memory of great times. Now available for sale and hanging @bayroadpantry6010 in good company with @stephanieboyleart @ Bay Road Pantry

04.01.2022 GLASS HALF FULL promo video of our up coming exhibition of contemporary glasswork @stalacontemporary opening on 28 Nov 2-4 hope to see you there.

02.01.2022 FIRST DAY of SPRING: yay I do love this season-there is such a sense of renewal. All those new bright green leaves bursting out everywhere. Because I was born in this season I always get the feeling of starting something new at this time of the year. It’s also the anticipation of summer coming next and the return of sunny days. Here’s a detail of my Banksia painting which is currently at the framers and soon to be available.

02.01.2022 PLAYING WITH LIGHT TODAY: getting some prep done for my Developing Ideas For Painting class @tresillianartscentre Our new term starts this week and I’m looking forward to working with a new group of students.

02.01.2022 TEACHING TODAY @tresillianartscentre We’re working on landscapes using experimental paint application. This is the BEFORE photo as in BEFORE we made a mess and had the best fun. This class is part of my 8 week course of Discovering Ideas for Painting.

01.01.2022 TRESILLIAN STUDENTS + TUTORS EXHIBITION 2-18 October open daily 10-4pm. I have been tutoring at Tresillian this year and two of my paintings are part of this exhibition. I helped to hang this show yesterday for a couple of hours. Some inspiring work on view and I am excited to be involved. Enrollments for term 4 at Tresillian Art Centre are now open. Join my class Discovering Ideas for Acrylic Painting. (An image by tutor Judy Rogers is featured on the exhibition invitation).

01.01.2022 SALT LAKE DREAMING: WIP: another day another palette and I had two on the go for this one. All the under layers down. Vigorous brushstrokes into wet paint. Waiting for these layers to dry before I tackle it again tomorrow. Inspired by my road trip last spring and views of Lake Kondinin. Swipe for a tiny detail.
