22.01.2022 Sooo happy to hear this! I just wish it was not just for Victoria though. Before Covid, the #1 cause of maternal deaths before and after birth (up to a year) was due to suicide. So can you imagine the numbers now since Covid!?!?? So scary. Especially with the rules of only one support person in the room at a time, and if you have family they live in different states, especially QLD who can’t come around to be there for you to help you out and support you while you recover af...ter birth and or take care if other siblings at home. I really hope they start focusing on these issues more and in other areas. Please I highly recommend reaching out for support, like a postpartum Doula (like me), especially if your a new mum, please plan ahead, research and get your support planned for after bub arrives! It’s a difficult year to become a mum. :) *Postpartum Doulas are trained to provide more than just looking after bub, or other children at home. We can clean, cook, do laundry, dishes, do your shopping or go with you, we can go to appointments, help with newborn care, breastfeeding, or giving you breaks to have a nap or an uninterrupted shower! We are also trained to talk about Postpartum Blues or depression, and even coping through this difficult time with Covid. And with so many services closed because of Covid and Playgroup’s not running too, you can be very lonely to, so simply having another friendly mum come around for a cuppa to talk to, and listen or cry to makes a big difference.
