Would you know what to expect?Or would you know who you can see to get answers and help at this important time in your life? Sadly many women don't, and this can be very scary and overwhelming when she starts to go through these changes. At the start of the year I had a client come to me because of the changes she was seeing in her skin. She was suddenly very dry and felt like she had aged dramatically over t...he space of two months. While going through her consultation and getting her background, ect, I noticed she had ticked that her stress level was extremely high. Long story short, while questioning her about this she disclosed to me that she was really worried and didn't understand what was happening to her. She felt very emotional, had missed her period twice and felt very off. This poor lady had stressed herself out so much and was convinced she was pregnant. I asked her if it could be possible that she was starting to go through menopause. The client told me that it had not crossed her mind, she didn't know what age to expect the changes, or what it would mean for her. After a visit to her GP it was confirmed she had started the change in her life and wasn't pregnant (much to her relief). Iv always believed that menopause is something women are not educated well enough on. There are many different symptoms of menopause and often many of these are over looked and we put them down to 'not feeling well' or 'having an off day'. We learn about womens periods and what to expect when we reach a certain age so that when the time comes we don't feel alone and left in the dark. I firmly believe we should also be more educated on menopause so that women know what to expect, what symptoms to be aware of and what treatment and help is available to help her through this difficult time. I personally really hope to see this come to Australia aswell. So please know that if you are going through this, there is help and treatment available. You are not alone
