18.01.2022 Ever been curious to see what lurks beneath the layers of your skin? We sure have! That's why we love using our Observe machine to carry out in-depth skin analyses on our clients. Pigmentation, sun spots, age spots, vascular damage and redness hidden beneath the skin's surface can all be captured through the digital images taken of your face. These images give us a thorough understanding of our clients' main skin concerns and helps guide us on where to start them on their s...kin journey. It's also pretty cool to use. What are you waiting for? Get in touch to book in your deep skin analysis with our team! myskinandbody.com.au/contact
18.01.2022 It's certainly not a man's world when it comes to skin. Did you know that men produce double the amount of sebum that women do? Meaning their oilier skin is also prone to things like impurities, breakouts, clogged pores, blackheads and acne. Finally! Something for the men to worry about for a change . Because of this extra oil and the fact that men's grooming affects the skin, it's really important for males to take care of their complexion. DMK has a specific range for the boys in our lives - get in touch with us today to find out more!
17.01.2022 Picking out our 'summer scent' is all part of getting our summer wardrobe ready - however be warned, spraying your favourite bottle right before sun exposure can put you at risk of 'Poikiloderma of Civatte'. No, that's not a typo, this mouthful is a skin condition appearing as a reddish-brown discolouration on women's necks and along men's jawlines. Fragrances, even those naturally derived from essential oils, create an inflammation response in our skin. This isn't always v...isible, but combine it with UV exposure and the impact is multiplied, leaving an overload of melanin and pigmentation on our skin. A quick tip is to make sure you're spraying perfume on your clothes instead of your skin. Already spotted Poikiloderma on your skin and getting concerned? Get in touch with us today!
17.01.2022 Sunday plans include: waiting patiently for Daniel Andrews announcement today. Who else can relate? Uncertainty is heavy, isolation is lonely and information can make us feel powerless. This is an unusual time in all of our lives. Something we couldn’t have even imagined. Maybe some day we will be able to say ‘remember when’ but right now we’re in it together. Come on Dan, it’s time to give us our freedom back.
16.01.2022 "I was worried it wasn't working after a few weeks, but wow - this little product is a life saver!" Check out this client's before and after, four months into using Revitison. This is without a doubt the wonder product of the DMK range. Revitison is a Vitamin A based crème that is designed to exfoliate the build-up of dead skin cells as well as regulate and maintain healthy cell renewal. It's versatile formula means it's suitable for acne, pigmentation, ageing, scarring and... stretch marks. Our skin needs time to adapt to vitamin A, therefore we encourage clients to build it up slowly. It's only after a few months that you'll notice the sheer skin changing power of this magic little bottle and trust us - once you do, you'll never look back!
16.01.2022 It’s a word that’s been thrown around more in the last few weeks than ever before. Lots of us are eager for a 'detox' lately, but what does it really mean? Detoxification is a term that refers to the removal of toxins and heavy metals from the body. Toxins are all around us, in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink. There’re many benefits to detoxing as it helps rid the body of these unwanted toxins and can also help you achieve: Clearer skin.... Increased energy. Improvement to digestion and absorption of nutrients with less digestive discomfort; acid reflux, heartburn, bloating, Boosted metabolism. Increased energy. Cellulite reduction. Cravings reduction. Did you know there’s simple things you can do in your OWN KITCHEN to aid this process? Use wooden utensils. Invest in BPA- FREE storage bags. Never heat or cook foods in plastic, as it can release toxins into food. Avoid plastic bottles as they release toxin. Swap out aluminium foil for chlorine free paper when baking, grilling and streaming as heat releases chemicals from the foil. Invest in a water filter.

08.01.2022 Many of us are guilty of wanting that summer glow, but unfortunately the sun's UV rays can be the culprit for skin conditions, one being hyperpigmentation. Also known as age or liver spots - hyperpigmentation occurs in every skin type regardless of race and develops when the skin tissue becomes darker than the surrounding area. Sound familiar? This is something our team of skin experts can treat with IPL pigmentation. IPL works by using powerful flashes of light in short ...blasts. This light creates an energy that penetrates the dermal layers below the skin’s surface and addresses the excess melanin - (which causes the spots in the first place!) . The heat attacks and destroys pigment particles which then rise to the surface and form as scabs. These are nothing to worry about though, they eventually fall off, or are otherwise carried in the lymphatic system where our body rids of them naturally! Get in touch to discuss your IPL journey with us! myskinandbody.com.au/contact/
08.01.2022 Let's face it, we've all had a pimple or a spot rear it's unwanted head at some point in our lives. We tend to just avoid picking them and dismiss them as being 'a breakout'. But this is a broad term for a few different skin concerns. We thought we'd break down the six main types of pimples: Nodules: Hard, tender pimples embedded deeply under the skin. These can be quite painful and hard to treat. If these sound familiar to you, let our team know and we can assist with next ...steps. Pustules: These are often yellow or white bumps with redness at the base of the swelling - salycylic acid can help here if you don't end up picking them first!! Whiteheads: The ones that are most tempting to pick! lol. These are the white spots on the surface of the skin that appear without redness of inflammation. Gentle exfoliation and salycylic acid will help keep these at bay. Blackheads: Occur because the pores are open and the sebum is oxidised. Our team LOVE extracting these fellas! Papules: These guys are tender, often sensitive red and pink bumps on the skin. The key to treating these is reduce inflammation and avoiding harsh ingredients. Cysts: Familiar with the saying "cut off the head of the snake and another will grow in its place"? The same applies to cysts. Do NOT pick them as they may flare up even more. Time and patience is your best bet here, along with DMK's Acu Klear to encourage everything to the surface. Shop it here: myskinandbody.com.au/product/acu-klear/
05.01.2022 Having grown up in Ireland, I certainly didn't have temperatures like we have here in Australia, however when the sun did make a rare appearance, my go to items were always sunglasses and most importantly - sunscreen. Sunny days mean dangerous and harmful rays. Men, children, women and babies from 6 months should be wearing sunscreen. This includes all skin colours. Even if you tan easily, your skin is damaged by sun exposure over a lifetime, whether you tan or burn. Now that summer is almost here and we're used to grabbing the mask, make sure you remember to grab the sunscreen too.
