25.01.2022 What do you think is Mindful Eating? . . Mindful eating is basically being aware. .... As I Dietitian I usually suggest my clients: 1. Enjoy the moment with your loved ones. 2. Be accepting and non judgemental of what you eat. 3. Savour the taste - I believe it all about choosing and loving what you are eating. 4. Lastly listen to your body! Ask yourself if you are satisfied? . . . #mindfulness #lovingfood #satisfying #beaccepting #beaware #mindfuleating See more

17.01.2022 #latergram Easter was so busy at this household with school holidays and ANZAC break. Thank you to @thermobysarah by doing a yum demo! Cant wait for #hotcrossbuns 2020!

17.01.2022 Awesome visual! Which one would you choose? The burrito... considered a healthy option but has more calories than a Big Mac meal! The calories are coming from the wrap bread, rice, beans, cheese, tiny amount of protein and sour cream! It has limited vegetables and protein...not enough for a lunch or a dinner portions ... The salad bowl...still yummy, full of vegetables, protein and carbs from bean! This is what I would go for! Much more balanced. You can hit it with flavour by adding chilli, coriander and an avocado! My Pick - the Salad Bowl When eating out ... think of the bigger picture. And eat like a Rainbow thanks to @collegenutritionist #healthyeating #foodfacts #eattherainbow #saladforthewin

13.01.2022 What do you think? I honestly love this pic > for 3 reasons! . 1. Simply shows that avoiding carbohydrates doesnt make your meal healthy. Personally I find it will only lead to snacking after your meal which would be high in saturated fats, sugar and energy! ... 2. Carbohydrates are a part of a balanced meal 3. Avoiding a food group is not sustainable and honestly not necessary. . Including Protein, Carbohydrates and Vegetables are an important part of healthy eating! 11.01.2022 My latest SBS Punjabi radio interview!

11.01.2022 Today I attended a beautiful breakfast at the Parliament House Sydney hosted by @nutritionaustralia for #nationalnutritionweek2019. We raised awareness about healthy eating and increasing our vegetables intake! A few facts I learnt today: 1. Only 4% of Australia get the recommended 5 serves of vegetables per day - Try for 5 vegetables per day! 2. Between 20-30 years of age is when we put on the most weight in our lifetime 3. Alcohol is a bigger problem than we think! ... So what can we do as Dietitians - raise awareness and advocate for change! Thank you to our lovely politicians for also sharing their stories!

06.01.2022 Our expectations vs reality! . I find start of the year our motivation is the highest and so are the expectation to do everything, but unfortunately sometimes this can be unrealistic. . Being healthy is a long term goal. ... Recipe to success is to have 1. A focus area 2. A Realistic goal And 3. It is important to value the progress you have made. . In my practice My Specialist Dietitian my main point of difference is to allow the clients to have a focus. 03.01.2022 I was in clinic today and there was a theme with all my clients. - Which is the best oil for cooking? What is the best fat to include in my food? . Thanks to the #thesavvydietitian this pictorial is an excellent summary! . The left column has the unsaturated fats - POLY & MONO. These are the better fats, cardio protective, cholesterol lowering, help with mood and hormones. ... . To break down further POLY unsaturated fats can also help improve your good cholesterol and are essential fats for our skin and hair. . MONO unsaturated can help lower risk of chronic disease and Alzheimers Disease. . Unfortunately the column on the right - Saturated Fats are the unhealthy, undesirable fats. Even though the media loves to promote butter, coconut, lard, animal fats. Evidence shows these fats are linked to chronic disease and obesity. . Overall - FAT = FAT!! Good fats should also be consumed in moderation and saturated fats should be limited! . I personally love to cook with sunflower oil! I use olive oil in my salad dressing! And I love avocado on my bread. And like most of you I enjoy my occasional chocolate and butter on my Dhal . Live healthy! Eat everything in moderation . #rdeats #unsaturatedfat #goodfats #loveeating #foodfacts #saturatedfat #oliveoil #avocadotoast #darkchocolate #sunfloweroil See more

02.01.2022 Personally I find the hand to be an excellent tool to help measure out meal portions. Your hand is your personal guide to how much you should be plating at each meal! Carbohydrates- are the size of your fist ... Protein - is your palm size Vegetables- is your full hand or infinity (Australian guidelines suggests 5 serve, where 1 serve is 1 cup salad or 1/2 cup cooked) Fats - size of your thumb Exceeding these portions will result in gradual weight gain however eating the right portion will assist in maintaining/ losing weight. USE YOUR ! Thank you @minorityfitness #useyourhands #knowyourportions #eatingright #foodfacts #dietitian #portioncontrol #mondayfacts #starttheweekright

Low Carb diets linked to Higher rate of Atrial Fibrillation (a-fib) or Heart Rhythm Disorder - read the article in Bio... . .
