15.01.2022 Celebrating Friday 13th today! I love Friday 13th, but just like the superstitions of walking under a ladder, crossing paths with a black cat or breaking a mirror, many people still believe that Friday the 13th is a day that brings bad luck or negative energy for their day. Though it’s uncertain exactly where this particular idea or tradition began, negative superstitions have swirled around the number 13 for centuries. Considered LUCKY by many Witches, very little is actuall...y known for certain about the origins of this day's notoriety. Some historians believe that the superstitions surrounding Friday 13th arose in the late 19th century. The first documented mention of the day can be found in a biography of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, who died on a Friday 13th. A 1907 book, Friday the Thirteenth, by American businessman Thomas Lawson, may have further perpetuated the superstition. Others believe that the myth has Biblical origins. Jesus was crucified on a Friday and there were 13 guests at the Last Supper the night before his crucifixion. And yet another account suggests that the day has been associated with misfortune since 1307, when on a Friday the 13th, the French king gave the orders to arrest hundreds of Knights Templar. Whatever the reason for this superstitious day, the fear of the bad luck generated on this day is so real that one scientific name wasn't enough! The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia. The fear of the number 13 has earned its own term as well - triskaidekaphobia. On a positive note, there is actually very little evidence to show Friday the 13th being an unlucky day, as many studies done have shown that Friday the 13th has little or no effect on events like accidents, hospital visits, and natural disasters. For most Witches 13 is actually a very powerful number and has a lot to do with fertility and the Goddess. For ancient Pagans Friday was also a day where you could receive blessings and gifts from the Gods. It is a day sacred to the Goddess Freya, a Goddess of love and fertility. This makes it a very spiritual and lucky day. It is nice to know that all years have at least one Friday the 13th, but there is never more than three Friday the 13ths in any one calendar year. 13.01.2022 Summer Solstice, also known as Midsummer or Litha, occurs this month on December 21 in the Southern Hemisphere (or Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere). Litha celebrates our season of Summer and literally honors the Sun which brings us light and warmth so that the Earth may continue to be reborn and we may continue to exist. I love to use this time of year to do rituals of gratitude and take time to reflect over the year that was. It is a great time to eat summer fruit...s, salad and walk on the beach appreciating the Sun above the water or taking time to watch the Sun in transition, at sunrise or sunset. My guides have also been talking about this solstice being a very high energy healing portal. I know we have a special planetary alignment occurring at this time too. So energy is very intense at present especially for healing, releasing and unblocking anything that has been holding you back. We always have the energy building up in the lead up to such events, so you are likely already feeling some of the healing effects going on in your life. Solar activity plus schuuman resonance super spikes and blackouts have all been occurring and I am guessing will continue to occur in the lead up to solstice as it brings through lots of energy to support our healing shifts. Due to this you may well be feeling exhaustion, having headaches or migraines, ear buzzing, third eye pressure, heart palpitations, insomnia and changes in eating preferences. You may also find yourself feeling in the flow, synchronicities and intuitive insights coming through on a stronger level. Remember to drink plenty of water, ground yourself when needed, carry the crystals selenite and golden tigerseye (or others you feel called to), burn lavender oil and rest during this time. It is also the perfect time to do conscious healing work to help shift what no longer serves you. Perhaps go to a healer, or do a burning ritual for releasement, walk on the beach asking Universe to cleanse you or call on Archangel Michael to help you dissolve energy cords.
