Here is one of their posts *************************************** Has the rapid nature in which SA went from no local Covid cases for a long stretch to complete lockdown thrown you? It seems that people are either significantly overloaded (think working and kids at home) or unsure how to fill their time with optio...ns outside the house closed. Get up at the same time each day, avoid naps and go to bed around the same time each night *Exercise. You may not be able to leave the house but can focus on high Intensity workouts in your lounge, strengthening or stretching muscles you wouldn't usually use *Focus on something fun each day - this will lift your mood and reduce stress Here's some ideas from the staff at Pear Tree: Physical Activity: # Turn on your favourite music and start dancing #Yoga with Adrienne or PE with Joe on YouTube #Cosmic yoga for kids on YouTube #Fit On - free app with different levels of intensity, ages and health conditions #7 minute a day workout app #Exercises at Home from the Heart Foundation https://www.heartfoundation.org.au//exercises-to-do-at-home Feeling isolated? #Phone or facetime a friend #Contact a loved one Need time alone or with family #Baking #Reading ^Free online books from the local library network ^Free audiobooks #De-Cluttering #Podcasts #Puzzles #Board and Card Games Kids need entertaining #Tag team if there is another adult in the house #ABC listen app - free stories and auditory activities #Make Christmas cards #Hide soft toys in the garden/house and go on a jungle tour #Make puppets #String obstacle course #Hide and Seek #Treasure hunt #Board Games #Story Reading/drawing #Cubby house inside #Lego/Duplo #Family movie in the afternoon #Obstacle course #Craft from the recycling bin #Chalk art on the driveway #Disco #Musical statues Share your ideas on our Facebook page. 08.01.2022 Something for all of us to remember...

08.01.2022 Great reminder!

07.01.2022 What a month June was! We have been very busy seeing clients and maintaining all our COVID-19 response processes and procedures as well as preparing for our Level 1 ASES (Australian Service Excellence Standards) and NDIS Audit which was completed today. Thanks to the wonderful team at My Therapy House and our consultants for helping us with the reams and reams of paperwork that needed reviewing and updating. A BIG THANK YOU to Christie, Alyssa and Kerry - you guys are amazing! Without you My Therapy House would not run as smoothly as it does. Truly blessed to have you all in my life! Dana xxx

07.01.2022 SA Premier, Steven Marshall, has announced a roadmap for easing restrictions in South Australia, in response to the Federal Cabinet meeting this morning. At My Therapy House we are continuing to provide Telehealth services to support you and your children at this time, and ask that you please continue to practice social distancing and strict hygiene as you go about your daily activities!

07.01.2022 And its done....

06.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there! Know you are loved and treasured. Here are some photos of my dad as a new immigrant to Australia where he worked on the railway, as a taxi driver, oversaw the building of our family home (in which mum still lives with support), raised a family and adored my mum, my sister and I. He is no longer with us but will always be remembered. A day to celebrate our fathers and look back on who they were and what they gave us.

06.01.2022 Clinical Psychologist Mona Delahooke writes about the 'Expectation Gap'. Sometimes the children we live and work with are emotionally not capable to control their behaviours because developmentally they do not have the capacity to do this yet. Although Mona specifically refers to toddlers, many of the children we see are at this level in their social emotional development. A great read. https://monadelahooke.com/1210-2/

05.01.2022 Independent Assessments by NDIS are coming in 2021. It will be interesting to see how people who do not know the clients well assess the clients to determine what they need. It will be very important for participants to give feedback to the NDIS to get this process right. I wonder how sensory processing, regulation and communication will be determined.

05.01.2022 What a day for hayfever sufferers it was today! Here is an interesting read about Hayfever and Covid 19 - apt for the current weather conditions in Adelaide. If in doubt, please go and get tested for Covid 19 just to be sure! https://www.abc.net.au//hay-fever-or-covid-19-cor/12623060

04.01.2022 Happy 5th. Birthday to My Therapy House. What a journey its been. We have learnt and grown so much! Thanks to all the staff, families and children for helping us become who we are! Heres to the next 5 years and more....

04.01.2022 Peppa and George can finally sit on their new toy box. Thanks Craig!

03.01.2022 A friend, Feliks mum, just shared this with me - The Speed Cubers - a 45 minute documentary on Netflix. Its about a special friendship and rivalry between two young men and a gift in cubing and the amazing opportunities this passion has brought into their lives. One of the young men is Max Park who lives with Autism, the other is Feliks Zemdegs. Here is the trailer. Looking forward to seeing it - although how does one see it without Netflix? :) https://youtu.be/J5Z7G_0U_8Q

03.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mums in our lives past and present. Thank you for all that you are and all that you do. This is a picture of my beautiful mum, Elena, with flowers from her garden! May you all live a long, happy and healthy life. Dana x

03.01.2022 Dear Families An esteemed colleague directed me to this beautiful website celebrating neurodiversity. The trend in best practice now is leaning towards understanding our individual profiles and working to our strengths. This website reminds us to celebrate everyone's individual differences, especially those who are living with Autism and not to try and change or suppress people by using interventions that can be punitive or even emotionally and psychologically harmful. DIR Fl...oortime is a developmental relationships based approach which helps parents understand their own and their child's profile and how to best support the child's development based on what is meaningful for the child within a loving relationship. Enjoy the website! https://www.reframingautism.com.au/

02.01.2022 This is an interesting article by DSC on their website today about NDIS Planning Meetings and Independent Assessments in the future https://teamdsc.com.au/resources/planning-consultation

02.01.2022 According to SAHealth, it seems like public playgrounds will be reopening this week in South Australia. People will still need to follow social distancing and hygiene guidelines. It seems councils will be making announcements. Check out your local councils webpage.
