20.01.2022 Shrove Tuesday. Not sure whether the Nutella counters the ‘better for you’ in this recipe. Maybe I’ll make Jo Whittons hazelnut spread next time. It tastes much better than Nutella and is definitely better for you!!

19.01.2022 Be prepared- Quick 20 min meals: I Always make a large quantity of meatballs as the Varoma can steam about 40 of them at once. I’ll make one lot fresh then freeze the other half. ( I feed 5: 2 teens, hubby 10 year old and me) This makes for a very quick week night dinner. Put in your blade cover add meatballs (or place meatballs in the rice basket) add a bottle of sugo or passata/ pasta sauce, and a touch of oregano. Reheat 15 min 100 degrees speed 1.5 reverse. Boil pasta in a pot or let it cook in boiling water in the thermoserver. Your spaghetti with meatballs is only 20 minutes away. Not into pasta? It’s great with spiralised veg or a salad too. Earn a blade cover this month by hosting a virtual or in person cooking experience.

17.01.2022 ‘Bimby Jack’ did a great job on Inner West Thermomixers Facebook page turning lemons into lemonade today. It went so well with the orange lemon bunt.

16.01.2022 An apple may not fall far from the tree but when it does, wouldn’t you like to use it? As you know, the plums in my neighbours yard ripened all at once so luckily, despite the heat, I could use them to make cakes, pastes, jams, stewed fruit, and chutney. Every week I use my Thermomix to give food a second ( and first) life. Whether it’s bread to breadcrumbs, brown bananas to bread , limp vegetables to stock or fruit to ice creams. It not only saves me money, as I don’t need to but these items, but stops me throwing money away in wasted food. With Cookidoo ingredient selector all I need to do is type in the ingredient to find a recipe. Select the recipe and follow along on the screen of your Thermomix!

16.01.2022 I had a Nigella moment last night as I went to the fridge and served myself some of this delicious vegetarian won ton soup for supper. Today was my first ‘in person’ demo since lock down. We had it at a public venue, taking care to adhere to COVID guidelines. 5 local parents shared the cooking with their primary aged children, whipping up delicious mango/ lime fruity dream, the always popular beetroot salad, and won ton soup. As bowls were slurped clean I heard one of the parents ask, who paid the children to love the food so much?’ . Fresh ingredients, No preservatives, an abundance of flavours and new skills. The children made the beetroot salad in a blink, and all learned to make wontons, intuitively following the instructions and sharing the tasks. So much fun!

07.01.2022 The Apple cake recipe in the basic cook book is amazing, and works with almost any stewed fruit. We had some lovely quinces the other day, so I peeled, sliced and stewed them with 250 gm water and 200 of sugar for 30 mins 105 speed 1.5 reverse. We placed the stew on top of the cake and topped with crumble. Took a little longer to cook but Soo good!

01.01.2022 I’ve been so busy on our Inner West Thermomixers team face book page so sorry to have abandoned you all. I’ll start posting more regularly now as have so many photos of lockdown meals to share with you. Like many I’m finding ways to keep myself amused. My 10, 14 & 15 year olds looked at me as though I was mad when I served this up last night- but all claimed it’s one of their favourite meals. Even hubby enjoyed it! Thermomix mash, steamed zucchini, peas and snap peas served with local sausages. Simply delicious!
