14.01.2022 Happy International Day for People with Disability! This year’s theme is 'Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World' a message that motivates so much of our work, before, during and after COVID-19. For 13 years, MyTime has supported parents and carers of children with a disability, developmental delay or chronic medical condition by offering opportunities to meet in a supporting and understanding environment. Traditi...onally, we met in person and away from the home. But COVID changed all that. Moving the majority of our groups to a temporary virtual space in response to COVID has allowed us to explore options for digital delivery that continue to achieve great outcomes for parents. Exciting things are coming for the next phase of MyTime but we are truly ‘Building Back Better’. Read more about our successful transition to digital delivery: https://bit.ly/3mFjxoM

02.01.2022 Research tells us that self-compassion the practice of being kind to yourself when things don’t go well plays a role in our mental health and wellbeing. Being kind to yourself is good for you and good for your child. Pause and notice your thoughts. Try to spot when you’re being hard on yourself. Remind yourself that raising children is a big and important job, which all parents learn as they go. Say something kind to yourself. ... A recent survey of Victorian parents found 24% of parents don't practice self-care or self-compassion. If you relate to this, try being aware of your feelings and treating yourself with the same warmth, care and understanding you’d give to someone you care about. For more about self-compassion, take a look at this fact sheet by raisingchildren.net.au: https://bit.ly/3o3H04c For more about the Parenting Today in Victoria survey, visit https://bit.ly/3erAD8j
