23.01.2022 Oska unfortunately got his leg caught in the fence trying to escape the storms last night. Luckily he has no broken bones, just lots of bruising and a small laceration. A perfect time to remind our pet-parents that there are things we can do to manage your pets during storms, including medications. We are likely to have lots of storms this season, so best to be prepared. To make an appointment call us or book online at https://www.myvets.vet/make-an-appointment. 16.01.2022 COVID19 update: over the next coming days and weeks, you may notice we are acting a little bit weird (well, more than usual ). We may not only ask you about your pets health, but also yours. We will be requesting that only one family member attend the appointment. We will be asking you to pay by card, rather than cash (vetpay and Zippay still available). ... You will see us frequently washing our hands, and disinfecting surfaces. We are attempting to keep our staff and clients safe, and prevent the closure of our clinics. We will keep our clients updated of any changes to clinic routines, as we endeavour to continue to provide veterinary services to all of our treasured pet clients.

05.01.2022 It's tick season again, and the cases of tick paralysis in dogs and cats we have treated so far have been quite severe. There are a number of really effective tick prevention products available so we urge pet owners to call us to discuss the best preventative treatment for your pet. Symptoms of tick paralysis include: ... - a change in bark or meow (it could sound raspy or quiet) - gagging, (or grunting), coughing, salivating, or vomiting - weakness , or wobbly, especially in the hind legs, this could be reluctance to walk or stopping to sit regularly. This gets progressively worse until full hind limb paralysis occurs. - difficulty breathing, panting, or open-mouth breathing - advanced paralysis and collapse The earlier we start treatment and supportive care the more successful the outcome, so it's important to call us if you see any of these symptoms in your pet. And ensure they are on a current veterinary recommended preventative. The picture shows the distribution of paralysis ticks along the east coast of Australia.
