19.01.2022 Elder abuse is a human rights issue that can prevent seniors from ageing positively. MYVISTA is proud to be part of the Purple Road project which will see thousands of hand made purple flowers joined together as a road to symbolise the journey seniors have made in each of their lives. Judy from the Older People’s Rights Service in Mirrabooka brought a small section of the purple road to MYVISTA to show our residents and speak to them as a peer about the issue of elder abuse.... She then presented Emer our Mirrabooka Residential Aged Care Manager with fabric to start our own purple road. From now until June MYVISTA Staff and residents are knitting and crocheting purple flowers which will be added to a purple road presented to politicians at Parliament House on 15 June. Residents at Balcatta have already completed their section, shown here with residents Mrs Santelli and Mrs Valvasori and MYVISTA care staff. Isn’t it gorgeous? 10.01.2022 Our Employee of the Month at Balcatta is Alice. Alice was nominated by a colleague who was very impressed with the way Alice went to the aid of a resident who required urgent first aid in the dining room. I was impressed how quick and efficient she was providing help especially considering her size and that she also had a sore arm from having had a vaccination the day before. She did not think about her own pain while she saved someone’s life. We are very proud of Alice who was presented with her award this week by our CEO Irene and Director of Nursing Mya, and we grateful for her vigilance, first aid skills and care of our residents. Thank you to the sponsors of our Employee of the Month program, Bresland Insurance Group, Bendigo Bank North Perth Branch and Hesta.

05.01.2022 Residents at MYVISTA Mirrabooka enjoyed some pampering and spoiling for Mother's Day. Fancy drinks, home made gifts and hand massages where all on the menu at the MYVISTA ‘day spa’ for our residents. Our Lifestyle Coordinator Zulli and her team made sure everyone was feeling loved and appreciated this Mother’s Day.

02.01.2022 Did you know the T in MYVISTA stands for Tuscany? The Tuscany Association WA was one of six forward thinking ethnic community clubs who formed MYVISTA over 25 years ago to support the elderly within the community. Today MYVISTA warmly welcomes people of all cultural backgrounds to experience the special care we can provide. And of course we are delighted to see the Tuscany Association continue to thrive in 2021!

01.01.2022 Early intervention and care when someone is in the early stages of dementia is very important. That's why MYVISTA was pleased to support this project that has seen three short films for Italian speakers made to help them identify early signs and how to help their loved one. The films are now ready for final evaluation before being distributed and we encourage our Italian speaking Facebook friends to follow the links and take part in this important project.
