25.01.2022 N E W R U L E S . . . In the measures announced by the Prime Minister last night which will take effect from midnight tonight, the solemnisation of a marriage is to occur with a maximum attendance of no more than five people, being the two parties, the authorised marriage celebrant, and the two witnesses. Social distancing of 1 person per 4 square metres is to be enforced. This applies to marriages both indoors and outdoors. So what does that mean? That means your wedding c...an still go ahead but you can only have two extra people. They can be your photographer, your videographer, or any two special people over 18 who understand what is going on to witness your love for each other. Your ceremony can be just as beautiful but there will just be less loved ones surrounding you - and less hugs and kisses in general. The other option is to postpone and simply have the wedding you want on another date. 18.01.2022 I got to do a wedding this weekend. The couple chose to do the legally required wording which had them married in two minutes. They'll have something bigger later and say a bit more to each other then but the most important thing to them is they are now married. It doesn't matter how you do it. If being married is super important then find two witnesses and let's get you married.

03.01.2022 N E W Y E A R . . . I thought I was finished weddings for the year until I received an emergency call from a celebrant friend yesterday. The wedding she was officiating had been cancelled just before the bride arrived due to bushfires. The wedding was moved to today and my friend was unable to help out as her family was being evacuated from a fire risk area. I was more than happy to step in and I am so lucky to part of a great celebrant community. ... So now I truly am finished for the year. Until next weekend when 2020 season kicks off. I am going to spend the night having a glow stick party with my kids and family. Happy New Year!

Perhaps that will be true, but it doesn't mean your wedding has to be cancelled. Technically you need a couple who want to marry each other, a couple of witnesses and your celebrant. And why not keep the booking with your photographer and anyone else you can still use to make your wedding amazing. A wedding is about love. You can still be ma...rried and save the party for a time when everyone is healthy and it's safe to do so.
