13.01.2022 MONDAY MINDFULNESS . Reposting as I accidentally deleted it!! . Mindfulness benefits the body, mind and soul. So does KINDFULNESS.... . This month I am re-sharing some simple, short and effective mindfulness exercises that you may like to incorporate into your daily routine. . This week let's practice mindfulness AND kindfulness with hugs ... both real and imaginary . . 1-MINUTE EXERCISE (1-Minute Mindfulness Exercises, Leonie Stewart-Weeks) . Three hugs, three breaths. Hug someone (a person or a pet) tight and take three big breaths together. Even if they don't breathe with you, your breathing will ground them. . IMAGINARY HUGS EXERCISE (Mindful Games, Susan Kaiser Greenland) . We picture our family, our friends and ourselves in a peaceful place where we are happy, healthy and having fun. . 1 Sit with your back straight and your body relaxed. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. 2 Imagine a peaceful place that you would like to visit with family and friends. 3 Imagine that you can feel, see, touch, hear, taste or smell something in your peaceful place. 4 Now, send friendly wishes to yourself. Give yourself a big hug and imagine you're having fun in your peaceful place. Silently say to yourself something like, "I hope I have a great day. I am happy here." 5 Next, give someone you love an imaginary hug. Make your arms into a circle in front of your chest and think of someone you'd like to hug. Imagine he or she is with you in your peaceful place and picture them smiling as you hug each other. Silently say something like, "I hope you are happy and have a great day. I hope you have what you need." 6 Now, open your eyes. Reach your hands high up to the sky as you take a deep breath in, and as you breath out lower your hands to your knees. . Consider diffusing essential oils such as Rose, Geranium, Pink Pepper, Manuka, Grapefruit or Ginger to help invoke thoughts of kindness, love and gratitude. . We can let ourselves become overwhelmed, or we can choose to breathe deep and teach ourselves to be more mindful and focused. . Mindfulness benefits the body, mind and soul.... . This month I am re-sharing some simple, short and effective mindfulness exercises that you may like to incorporate into your daily routine. . Let’s complete the series with some mindfulness exercises that can be enjoyed in the fresh air (either in your own backyard or out and about at the park, on a bush walk or at the beach) . . GO ON A MINDFUL STROLL . Find a time and place that you can go for a short walk undisturbed and unhurried. Take a few deep breaths and set your intention for a mindful walk. While you walk, bring your awareness to all the sensations you can notice. Is there a breeze or is it still? What colours and textures do you see? What sounds can you hear? . STACK ROCKS . Find yourself some rocks of different shapes and sizes. Stack and balance them in different ways. Focus on the shape, size and texture of each rock and enjoy seeing your creations. . WATCH THE CLOUDS . Snuggle into the grass, lay on your beach towel or get comfy on the trampoline and watch the clouds. Take a deep breath, be quiet and still ... and watch. Notice how they build and move, and let your mind make pictures and shapes out of them. . Whenever you get distracted by other thoughts, return to one of your senses and notice whatever you can about the present moment. Inhale. Smile. Exhale. Repeat. . Try one of these exercises alone or with your kids. Before you begin, you could select an essential oil with intention to use as your aromatic anchor, smelling it throughout the day whenever you need to bring yourself back to that lovely moment of mindfulness. .
