24.01.2022 Food can be seen as an essential part of a holistic health plan. Create your own diet around organic, fresh, local and seasonal food where possible to reduce metabolic damage.

23.01.2022 If that isn't enough inspiration to keep going to the gym. Not sure what is......

21.01.2022 Interesting possibilities for use in lots of different health conditions. The key point is making sure the essential oil are 100% pure and extracted using appropriate solvents or methods. Not all essential oils are created equal...

21.01.2022 I will definitely be prescribing some for myself soon....

19.01.2022 Recently I have had a few patients who have been experiencing significant knee and back pain. As most people who have experienced this type of pain know, it can be extremely debilitating both physically, mentally and emotionally. While there are effective pharmaceutical anti inflammatory options, like NSAIDS. They do come with some potentially serious side effects, such as injury to the digestive system, such as an increased risk of developing ulcers, nausea, vomiting, heart...burn to name the main ones. Research investigating both Tumeric and Ginger as treatment alternatives to drugs like Ibuprofen have shown that they are as effective as Ibuprofen yet without the risk of injury to your digestion.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24672232, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11710709 Next time you or a loved one reaches for a bottle of ibuprofen, whether its period, muscle or joint pain. Is it maybe time to try something different?

14.01.2022 Interesting that 'other' medications are contributing to changes in antibiotic resistance. What else are we using that may be impacting our environment internally and externally?

14.01.2022 Winter is here, are you getting some aches and pains or stiffness in the morning?? Age can play a part of joint wear and tear creating osteoarthirtis, along with work or sporting pursuits. Glucosamine and Chondrointin have both been well researched, looking their ability to improve the signs and symptoms of osteo and rheumatoid arthirits. While there are tablets aplenty on the retail shelves. It is important to understand that not all products are using the researched forms ...of ingredients (Glucosamine sulphate (good evidence) vs Glucosamine Hydrochloride (poor clinic evidence)). Recent research looked at the comparison in benefit between glucosamine and ibuprofen. This study showed the nutrient to be of comparative benefit to patients as the ibuprofen. Glucosamine also provides these benefits without the list of potential side effects like increased risk of heart attack, stroke, as well as the risk of ulceration or bleeding of the stomach and intestines. Ideally NSAIDS like ibuprofen should only be used short course medications (less than 10 days) and they longer you are taking ibuprofen the greater the risk of developing a side effect. Check the product you might be using! It may not be the best you could be having. For me using 'Practitioner only' quality products is very important. So I can ensure my clients are using products that are produced to the highest standard with the most appropriate clinically researched ingredients. Supplements are not the only answer but having the most appropriate ones can make a huge difference to improving your health!

09.01.2022 Hi Everyone! I'm really excited to share the news that I have an Amazing new herbal tea range now available at both clinic's by Audrey and the Teacup! The first two teas in her range are Sleepy Head and the second is a called Daily Cleanse. You might ask what makes these different from most other teas around. The first thing for me, is that in these tea blends are some of the herbs I myself, would put together for someone as a part of a treatment program. If I had room for d...ried herbs in my clinic of course! The range has been developed by a really good friend, awesome Naturopath and all round fantastic woman! Where possible she endeavours to use local Victorian farmers! The Sleepy Head blend does not contain Chamomile for those of you who are not fans! While the daily cleanse is sans Green tea again for some people who are trying to avoid caffeine! I have samples available so if your in the area, feel free to drop in and grab one! Belinda

08.01.2022 Great article to encourage all of is to reframe our ideas about addiction. We as a society can definitely look at how we can support people dealing with addiction differently.

03.01.2022 Can anyone one believe it's February already! As the year is gearing up already, I know a few people who are training for different events in the next few months. Muscle soreness/strains or tendonitis can be an annoying or even restricting the way you can complete your training. In saying this, almost everyone including Weekend warriors, Mum's, Dad's and most workers who have repetitive movements as a part of their job have the potential to develop these issues too. Simple ch...anges can be made to your diet for example increasing herbs which reduce inflammation, like Tumeric, chillies, ginger, cinnamon, basil.Or even just reducing the amount inflammation producing foods from wheat products, sugar, white rice or vegetable from the nightshade family, like tomatoes, capsicums, eggplants. These dietary changes can complement physical therapies like massage, yoga or regular stretching to maintain muscle strength and reduce tension.
