01.01.2022 What colour do you feel like today? The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas is a beautiful book for children that explores emotions through colour. ... In class we read the book, and share the colour we feel like and then come up with yoga poses/sequences that suit each of the emotions. For e.g. star pose or sun salutations for happy, volcano/chair pose with a jump for anger. Then discuss ways to feel better if we are angry, sad or afraid. Just before savasana, we use a glitter calm down jar. When you shake up the jar and the glitter is swirling all around it can represent when your emotions are feeling all over the place, like the confused colour monster. If we mindfully breathe, we can allow our emotions to settle just like the glitter settling down; it naturally calms your mind and body. Glitter jars are an absolute game changer, children LOVE them! I mean... look how mesmerised these two mini yogis are! I love them too and find them so soothing and relaxing to look at. Have you made one before?
